American Tap Room - Reston, VA Ratings and Reviews
We came in after running the Army 10 miler. My husband ordered the hangover burger without cheese and without ranch. The first burger that was brought out had ranch on it and he asked if he could get a new one to reflect the correct order. When the second burger was brought out it had cheese on it. We were never checked on once the second burger was brought out and it was incorrect again. Very disappointed.
There was a street fair, seating outside was too noisy as was seating inside. Great waiter but order not correct, they forgot fried onions & baked potato, brought mashed potatoes. Meat was good, second wine glass was delivered at the end of my meal, so I refused it.
Attended Sunday for Mother's Day Dinner with 4 adults and 3 kids (ages 13, 9 & 2). All 6+ parties were all shoved in the back of the restaurant in one space on top of each other. It was crowded and noisy, needlessly. They could have spread out the large parties. The special of the day, the bacon wrapped salmon arrived way too rare. Had to send back. Fish & Chips were too small of portion for adults and very bland. Also, they were out of milk and apple juice. Thankfully a manager went to another restaurant to buy more. For Kids desserts: out of gummy worms and then no whipped cream or cherries on top of Sundaes. Bread pudding was terrible. Won't be returning.
This is a good beer/ sports bar. The menu is varied if you want just appetizers, a salad or an entree. They have TV's throughout to watch sports. I had a salad with shrimp which was good, and my mom had the jambalaya which was also good and it had a spicy kick to it. I loved the pretzel appetizer with the three dipping sauces. The icing was was the best! We shared the bread pudding dessert. I would have liked a little sauce with it though, it was a little dry for my taste. The service was great. Anthony, our waiter, was always on top of things and couldn't have been nicer. I would recommend it if you want a nice casual meal.
We went there for Easter brunch. The entire staff was very friendly. Our server was awesome. Jesus was his name and I will ask for him by name next time. The food was excellent and very reasonably priced. My meal was $13.00 and I couldn't finish it. Very clean and nicely decorated. Five stars in my book!
Seems like this place needs to be managed alot better. Our appetizer plates were left on our table long after we finished eating, I ordered a beer and an entree and they were both out, music turned on and was SUPER loud until they turned it down to a normal level. Just not the best experience for a special occasion dinner.
Great Restaurant - food is excellent and the people are exceptional professionals. The only issue with ATR Reston is the new kabuki dance in the parking situation. Obviously, a MORON decide not only to charge for parking, but put a process in place that is most inconvenient to the patrons - this will be the end of Reston Town Center. I've already heard from a number of groups who will no longer go to Reston for their functions - including several of my business partners!...it's too bad!...maybe ATR will do us a favor and move out of RTC...
I've eaten here many times and enjoy the food. I was disappointed, however in that I notated on the reservation that it was my wife's birthday and was hoping they would do something special such as at the very least wish her a happy birthday or offer me some options. They said nothing.
The server had just started. The service was poor, but I do not think it was his fault, he obviously had no training. 1 man with 3 ladies at the table and he asks the man for his order before the ladies. Drinks were not delivered to the entire table. The dinner dishes were left on the table as he tried to place the desserts on the table. The food was barely OK, just an extremely poor experience. There are too many wonderful places within walking distance of this place.
The American Tap Room is a great place to have drinks with friends. I enjoy the drink selection, atmosphere, and appetizers. The Calamari is excellent. However, I'm not a fan of the entrees. I had salmon that came out tasting like the plank it sat on. I had Jambalaya that came out soupy and diluted. Sorry, I'm a big fan of New Orleans style Jambalaya and this was not it. Still, the atmosphere is great. The staff are courteous and attentive. I'm happy to come back, but probably just for drinks and light hors d'oeuvre.
My fiance and his family and I went to American Tap Room in Reston Town Center for lunch after the Holiday Parade. We expected to wait for a table because the town center was flooded with patrons. We were told 15-20 minutes. It was longer than that. By the time we were called, we were all starving. We were led to a high top table, even though we had said we couldn't be seated at one because we had children and a baby. We were taken the long way through a crowded restaurant to the wrong table. Back to waiting. Ten minutes later we were seated. We ordered drinks and wings all at the same time. It took FOREVER for the wings to come out. At this point, everyone is beyond cranky. The server kept coming by saying the wings were "coming out soon," but it was a seriously long wait for them to actually show up. In the amount of time it took them to bring the wings, we should have been served our entire meal. The entrees came out shortly after the wings. My fiance was served the wrong side. They resolved this quickly, but honestly the food did not meet our expectations. I got the chicken biscuit sliders (something that has become popular at restaurants) and the biscuits were hard and crumbly. My fiance said his sandwich was cold. We were profusely apologized to for the long wait, and compensated $15 off the bill for a long ticket time, but we were so hungry, the service was so bad, and the food so mediocre that there was no coming back from the experience. The kids got complimentary cotton candy, and Shirley Temple refills to go, so they were excited, but the adults were not. We will not be back.
Ordered drinks. Waiter didn't bring water or utensils for the table. Dropped off food. Never checked in. Came by at the end and gave us our check. It seemed like he had better things to do...
Food was ok. Wanted to split a kids meal for kids but was told we should get two. We got two. Kids didn't like the food. Bunch of food went to waste...
Outstanding Brunch! This is the lazy persons version of brunch--you never have to get up and wait in a buffet line, you order off the menu (all you can eat) and they bring the food to you! Under $30 and you get fabulous drink specials with the AYCE brunch as well. We sat outside on the patio in the beautiful Fall weather and it was great people watching. Laura was our server--she was attentive and informative. Going back very soon!
The steak I ordered was by far one of the worst I've ever had. I ordered the bourbon ribeye, medium well. What I received was a flavorless, fat slab. It was full of fatty meat. It's like they gave me the worst cut they had, hoping I wouldn't notice. My wife's shrimp had little to no seasoning as well. The drinks and the Tap Tap Shrimp appetizer were the highlights of our experience here. The rest is very, very forgettable. For a $34 entree, they've got to do better with that ribeye. It was shameful.
We had a lovely dining experience at The American Tap Room. We hadn't been there for a very long time since we moved out of the area several years ago. It was as delicious as we remembered. It was early on a Saturday evening, the noise level was moderate and service was very good. Highly recommend!
The veggies with the special strip steak - carrots and beets were not cooked at all, way too hard to bite into and chew, would have preferred them steamed and actually cooked. Brussel sprouts were great. filet steak meals were ok, have had better steak for 1/3 less the price in other places.
Tap Room is a nice place for a reasonably priced lunch here in the Reston Towne Center. I've been here a couple of times for lunch with larger groups and the service was pretty good. The manager appeared to be friendly and check on us to make sure that everything was fine. Over all it's a pretty decent place to eat.
After a movie, my wife and I had a wonderful meal in the American Tap Room. The waitress had excellent recommendations. The food was good and hot. The fireplace provided nice ambiance in the center of the dining room. Lots of booths which we like for quieter conversation. It was a great meal. The bar has nice sized screens and wide selection - we weren't there long though.
Celebrated a friends birthday with lunch here on Saturday. Great menu with brunch and regular items. I had egg scramble with spinach, mushrooms & tomatoes. Delicious. Friends had flatbread and Caesar and loved them. Shawn, our bartender, was awesome. Recommended some great beers. Especially enjoyed the Bells dark. Thank you. Great lunch!
