The Easter tasting menu was awesome! I also enjoyed the plate presentation. Really enjoyed our tasty meal, the service was awesome and I loved the atmosphere.

We went there are seeing it on a list of "Brunch Places" I think on Thrillist? It was good, but just good. Not anymore or less then average / good... not sure why this location made a list of brunches to hit. Also, the Mrs ordered the Avocado toast... Yes trendy silliness aside it was very tiny on a piece of what appears to be almost a slightly thicker crust cut off loaf white bread & the size of a single slice as a square also. Quite an expensive since slice of toast with a small smear of avocado. All in all, there want anything bad that happen, but nothing impressive or worth repeating. Just good enough.

The food and atmosphere of this place was excellent. The food portions is larger than advertised, we ordered an appetizer, two small plates and a whole fish for two people, and by the time the whole fish came out, we were stuffed. The noise level was great, I could still hear my friend against the buzz.
I would definitely come again.

I would recommend it for the ambience - particularly on a nice day when the window wall is raised to let in the outdoors. The coffee was great. I thought the food was incredibly bland and the croissant was doughy rather than airy.

Nice food. Server seemed somewhat stressed. Not mean or hateful, but not sharing happiness. Hopefully there is happiness that was there but was held back.

Terrible service. Waited 35 minutes for iced tea and for our order to be taken. And our server was abysmal - bad attitude, not interested in helping, etc.

Don't go here.

The food was pretty good, but not great or as we expected from reviews. Service was very good. The limited menu was possibly too limited. There were only 3 large dishes. They were out of one and one of the other choices, the steak, was $125. Expect the sharing plates to be small.

The story of American Son is something that really stuck out to me. The restaurant is an homage to immigrant parents and that’s fully displayed at the front of the menu. It made the food mean so much more to me because I came from a similar background. The pastries were outstanding: the monkey king bread was warm, flaky, and lightly sweetened like a cinnamon roll without all the overly sweet frosting. The venison blueberry sausage was also great as it didn’t taste at all gamey. The blueberry added a very subtle sweetness to the meat. The eggs Benedict was plated beautifully, but my only small complaint was the potatoes were a bit dry from over-baking. The Vietnamese coffee dessert was an outstanding mix of textures. Imagine deconstructing a Vietnamese coffee in solid parts, and adding some ice cream and brownies: instant magic.

Incredible empathetic staff, amazing selection of foods that would satisfy any range of dietary needs or restrictions, marvelous sparkling selection, ambiance is cozy, modern and chic, went in to celebrate my husband's birthday and they were so incredible, attentive and thoughtful. Would absolutely go back.

I had the chicken sandwich. It was boring and tasteless. I was surprised that it appeared to be a pressed, processed chicken patty rather than a real piece of chicken. The kale salad was better but over dressed. I liked the White Album dessert.

The service from Natasha was amazing, only to be outperformed by the incredible food. This fine and delicious restaurant doesn't miss a beat. We specifically asked for slow dining experience and got that. The small plates are meant for sharing, which is great since you get to taste more of the amazing creations. We ate the charred shishito peppers, the homemade ricotta, then had the tofu gnocchi and the duck breast. We followed it up with the White Album dessert. Honestly, the meal was so good I dreamt about it.

It was wonderful. The food is very good. Wishes the pork belly hash comes with rice to make it more filling. But the salmon blt with sour dough bread and avocado is just delicious. Definitely will visit again. Wondered if the hotel has some good rewards with the restaurant so we could do a staycation. That way, we can enjoy more meals.

American Son is simply outstanding — this was my first time here. It outperformed several Michelin starred restaurants in the city, particularly in terms of the food. I am a chef myself, and the beef cheek was one of the finest tasting dishes I’ve ever had! Additionally, Chef KC came out and was very accommodating of eating gluten-free; most of the dishes could be amended. Perhaps the only critique is that despite the elevated food, the ambiance was perhaps too casual (that being said, I’m sure they have to accommodate Eaton Hotel guests wanting to lounge). It’s truly the spot to be, so try it on a buzzing night for the best experience.

I really like this place. I think the food is creative, attractive and flavorful. It is pricey, but the quality of ingredients gives it value. Wine list is limited, but once you understand why its not as troubling, although some fine wines should still be available vs. the locally sustainable and small batch offerings. We were seating in the back basically in the kitchen. Some people think this is fun but I find it distracting and noisy. Ask for a table or booths away from that area and all should be fine. Be sure to visit the rooftop lounge and the speakeasy for atmosphere, cocktails and great people watching. Service is strong but basic; managers are buzzing about and keep things moving nicely.

Dined here with a group of 4 on Friday night. Was disappointed by the lack of crowd and the table we were given. We requested a change to a booth and that was the right call. The cocktail menu is a bit limited - but I enjoyed the ginger cocktail. We requested that our meal be coursed because we wanted to linger a bit over our dinner - and everything came out at once within 15 minutes of ordering - a bit disappointing. The quality of the food was good - I specifically enjoyed the shishito peppers and the scallops. A bit overpriced also

I brought my parents here for dinner on a night that they were visiting DC. We all loved it. Chef Tim even came by our table to greet us and ask us about the experience. Our waitress was delightful and gave us a full run-down of the menu's unique options. My mom is vegetarian and the waitress was able to accommodate her restrictions and point out the veg options, while also making modifications on some traditionally non-veg dishes. Some highlights included the house-made ricotta, potato croquettes, lamb rigatoni, spaghetti squash, and tofu gnocchi. The ambiance was lovely and because the tables are well spread out -- unlike some other restaurants in DC -- we could have a nice dinner conversation without needing to scream to be heard. I am totally behind this restaurant's food and unique story. I will be back!!
