Homemade Key Lime Pie

The service was phenomenal so I have absolutely no complaints about that. Our waiter was very nice and attentive and all of the other staff was incredibly friendly. The food however was VERY salty. I’ve been to many steakhouses and it was almost unbearable to eat. The chips that came with the artichoke dip were extremely salty, same thing with the fries. And then the sauce they poured on the prime rib as well. My friend also got the filet and she couldn’t even finish it from how salty it was. Not worth the nearly $100-$130/per person dinner in my opinion.
Smoked Prime Rib is to die for
This review is purely for the dry aged NY strip. The dry aged flavor was perfectly on target for what I was expecting. Cooked perfectly as well. Price was on par with dry aged steaks at other steakhouses.
Our server was fantastic! We should have looked at menu more closely as smoked meat as a steak frite was not a desirable option - we had to send it back as our requested medium rare was far closer to medium. Manager insisted because it was smoked.
Meat was way too rare when brought out. Took back and cooked more. Would have expected more for how much we paid.
Fantastic food, great service.
Wow, insane food and service. One of a kind cooking that will not disappoint
Dinner was fabulous but the place smelled really bad of cigar or cigarette smoke
The ingredients for the food are excellent. They are prepared well. But OMG. There us an excessive amount of salt on everything! Even the bread is salted. The meat (prime rib and filet) are excessive. The vegetables are excessive. Even the salads have salt on them!
The service is friendly and efficient. The atmosphere is spartan but clean. Not too noisy.
We won't be back.
We ate at the bar and our server was Chris who did an incredible job with our meal. We split the Tomahawk Steak which I highly recommend for a really unique date night dinner.
Our server was entertaining and attentive. We enjoyed our night. Even offered a complimentary dessert to celebrate a recent achievement in our group.
Excellent Steak-House! Prime Rib is their specialty!
We had never been to American Prime before and was looking for a higher end restaurant near the Capitol One Hall as we were going to see a show at 8:00 pm. Our server was great and offered excellent feedback on beverage and food options when we asked about specific drinks and entrees. He also timed the meal perfectly to get us on the road in time for the show.
We chose outdoor seating with patio style heaters. The space inside snd out was clean and beautiful.
We started with lump crabmeat dip and a couple of cocktails. The pours were generous and the dip was so good we considered ordering more. I had the speakeasy which had a nice subtle hint of fruitiness and my wife had the ruby red. The boys had non alcoholic blackberry lemonade that I’ll try next time but with the bourbon added.
Our high schoolers had the brisket with fries and creamed spinach. I’m not always big on spinach, but theirs was fantastic. Sides are served in their own dishes which means they’re easy to share.
My wife had the crusted trout snd it’s a tricky dish to prepare well. She loved it and would order it again.
I went with the Prime Rib and it had a delightful smokey flavor and was incredibly tender. It’s served medium rare and was spot on.
My sides were wild mushrooms in a red wine reduction and I shared them with the family - keeping a slightly larger share for my 12 oz prime rib.
The last side was a deconstructed loaded potato. They potato had been cut into pieces and roasted. They add in cheese, scallions, and sour cream. It was fantastic and again portion wise it was enough for three of us.
Many of the more expensive restaurants in the area leave you walking away thinking that you paid more for ambiance than quality of the food. American prime offers both. We all felt it was a good value for the high level of service and fantastic food.
The food was not as expected for a top steak house!! New York steak was tough and not tender as expected
My wife and I were looking for something new to get out of the COVID dinner delivery blues; a special date night out! We found this little gem on OpenTable. It's about five minutes off of our normal beaten path. The food was excellent!
My fillet was juicy and well cooked! The staff, e.g., hostess, waitress, and assistant manager, were all wonderful. I've never had a chocolate flourless cake that was so moist!
We'll be back!
Arrived around 5pm for family occasion Service was excellent. However the food was alright to just fair. Brisket was dry and partially uneatable. venison was dry. Prime rib was chewy. Mushroom crusted ribeye was good
Great patio and great food! They have a great outdoor area to enjoy an intimate meal or to have drinks with friends.
We went out to dinner to celebrate my husband’s graduation. When I made the reservation, I put that it was a special occasion and they brought us each a complementary glass of champagne. I thought this was very generous and thoughtful. They had a special for a Tomahawk steak which we split, and it was amazing! Their bourbon butter cake for dessert was also so delicious. Our server was friendly and helpful. Can’t wait to go back.
As locals, we've not dined at this restaurant, but have always been curious to try. We were pleasantly surprised at the outstanding tasty steaks and sides. The service was very good to outstanding. The ambiance is excellent at your outside seating and bar area. However, we were seated in your indoor dining area which is in dire need of a renovation and lightening up. It is very drab and uninviting, dark, windowless dining room, with no consistency or theme on décor?? We will gladly dine again at your restaurant, but will insist on outdoor seating or seating in/at the bar area.
I highly recommend this place. Great staff, amazing food and great value. Went for a date night and will definitely be going back!
The customer service was excellent! The staff acknowledged our wedding anniversary and served a complimentary glass of Prosecco. Our server was attentive and explained the chef specials. We started with a great tasting creamy crab bisque with large lumps of crab meat. I had a tender smoky brisket with crispy brussel sprouts. My husband had Chilean Seabass in a miso broth and caesar salad. We noticed a grand selection of cigars .Unfortunately the cigar bar is reserved for members only. Nevertheless, our server informed us that we were welcome to buy and smoke them later. We ordered two from the AVO collection. I would recommend this restaurant. They had nice brightly lit outdoor seating with fire pits and spacious seating in the dining area with guards to ensure safety while eating inside.
Came here for an anniversary lunch. Terrible - the place has gone down big time. I had Fish and Chips - so greasy this was my second not so great experience, will not be back.
Excellent evening outside on the patio
We dined here today after seeing a movie. We arrived as soon as they opened and were seated promptly. The atmosphere was nice and inviting. Staff very friendly.
I ordered the blackberry lemonade, but it was very tart (almost to the point of being sour). The server was happy to have it made sweeter and it came back delicious.
Started with cheesesteak rolls and Caesar salad. Both were tasty. I ordered the smoked brisket that came with fries. My husband ordered prime rib with deconstructed potatoes. Dessert was the butter cake.
Cheesesteak rolls - really good
Brisket was kinda salty but tender and good
Prime rib - delicious
Potato - just ok
Buttercake came out hot, not warm like I was expecting. Some parts were moist and other parts hard and dry. It had good flavor though.
The best part of the restaurant is the service. It’s superb. I wouldn’t add it to my favorites, but I would dine here again.
excellent service. food was good. easy to reserve. meal was a bit fast paced. had not even finished cocktails when food was served. attentive server.
Great food and service! Off the beaten path but we were pleasantly surprised by this hidden gem!
Tasty food and great outdoor seating. Server was very friendly.
Beautiful outdoor dining great food super nice people working there. Amazing service
This was our second visit and because we had such a great first visit, this one was a bit disappointing. The staff is exceptionally nice and welcoming. And they really are accommodating and helpful. The food seems to be hit or miss. Our first visit our dishes were delicious, well prepared and food seemed freshly prepared. On this visit, the food didn’t taste as good. The crab cake had more filler than before, was almost mushy and for some reason, the greens they were on top were very salty. The key lime pie that I thought was one of the best I ever had on my first visit - fresh lime flavor and perfectly crispy crust - was pale in color and the crust soggy with a bit of runny goo under it. It had clearly been made days before and sat for a while. The decor of this place is a bit sterile and there is odd art and fake flowers everywhere. I think removing them and updating with cohesive decor could go a long way. The dining tables and seating is nice and the tables have white table cloths fir an elegant touch. I would still recommend this restaurant but just know you may have a disappointing meal or an amazing one. Hopefully the latter because food prices are very high these days and this restaurant is not cheap.
We have dined at American Prime frequently over the last 3 years and our experience has been great. We love the service we receive. Their signature prime rib is the centerpiece of the restaurant, as well as the smoked wings. Our entire family enjoys the restaurant and what they have to offer. We would recommend American Prime for anyone looking for a great local restaurant that has great service.
Great dinner with family and friends (adults only). Service was great, as was the food.
Great steak and efficient service
Best steak, appetizers,…literally the best everything we’ve had dining out for over two years! (#1 of @100+ restaurants we’ve eaten at locally, nationally & internationally-from take out to Michelin star.) This restaurant, it’s food, service, & ambience delivered above and beyond our expectations. Great mix of people, from shorts to suits & everyone was treated as members of the family. We’re grateful for the incredible and memorable experience they gave us. We will be back.
The food was super salty and the ambiance is lacking. Service was great though.
The decor and overall look of this restaurant is nothing special and almost sterile. They have a glass case where you can see meats aging but it doesn’t really look like that type of a case so it doesn’t have the intended impression. The outdoor area is charming with the string lights and it’s a nice experience to pull up to.
The cocktails were a nice surprise. One of the few places I’ve been where they knew what a dark and stormy was and the best ingredients. The food was very good; the crab cake was mostly crab meat and delicious. The deconstructed potato was an interesting twist on a potato and quite good. The desserts were outstanding. The key lime pie was authentic and fresh and you could taste it. The bourbon cake was amazing. The staff were welcoming, friendly and responsive. I recommend this hidden gem.
Went for restaurant week lunch and sat outside. Food was good and service was great!
My friend and I decided to go to American Prime for Restaurant Week. We both got the truffle arancini as the appetizer, prime rib for the main course, and bread pudding for dessert. All were delicious and we were very full afterwards.
Stella & Colleen provided outstanding service! Great food! Excellent wine selection! Must see in NoVA!!
Greta food !! Shelby who waited on us was great!!
Only minor complaint was that we made reservations outside and when we got there all that was left was a table in a full sun section with nobody seated there, boring!
Outside of that everything else was Great!!
