Food was disappointing. I should have known when we walked in on a Saturday night and hardly anyone was there. One waiter for the entire restaurant. Steaks chewy and unevenly cooked. Their version of “wild mushrooms” is a bunch of cut up watery portobellos. Mashed potatoes didn’t even taste like potato. Mussels cooked in white wine and garlic had no flavor. Best part of meal was the cheese plate - probably because you don’t need to cook that.
Late Tuesday evening dinner with client. Ended up choosing to sit at corner of bar instead of sitting in dining room (which alas is a bit of a windowless cave versus bar area which is much cheerier). Service was great even though pretty much everyone else finished up and went home. Bar staff remained attentive and made us feel welcome until we finally left. Dinner was, as always, delicious!
This is a first class establishment from every aspect but the price. Very reasonable for a great experience!!!
Great meal, reasonably priced. We will be back. The only complaint was that the garnishes on the beef carppacio were a bit fresh out of the kitchen and still had some dirt on the roots.
Great opportunity to explore this venue, hidden in a office part during Resturant week. Greeted by a fine ”young fentleman” named Drew. His type if attention and politness is not found in many people his age. His recommendation on the Prime RIB was spot on, and his Dad the cheft should be proud onhow he is raising a future resturant gentelman. Try this gem out and if you are lucky, Drew will be there before his bedtime.
Lovely evening with good service, loved the Crab and Shrimp Poppers, and the steak was delicious...perfect service also!
Second time at this restaurant and it was even better than the outstanding 1st time. Already planning our next visit for my birthday.
We went for summer restaurant week. It was excellent. Our service and food were both outstanding. We'll be returning soon.
We went for restaurant week and had the filet mignon. Our 2 family members had good steaks but ours
were underdone so we sent them back to be cooked a little more. Big mistake-they
came back well done, dry and charred which we had requested to be avoided. But by that time, we felt it was too late to send back so we trimmed the blackened and ate what we could. To their credit, the manager had come back when our steaks were returned and had asked if they were OK and we said they were OK which we should not of done but our company was finished we just did not want to hold things up.

It took almost a half hour to have our order taken. The restaurant week menu had a salad first course and three entree salads. Why would I want two salads? The server kept getting distracted and looking at our table but walked away without asking if we were ok. The food was basic and burned. We never got our second round of drinks and the entire lunch took almost two hours for a burger and two sandwiches. I will never go back there.
First time visit during Restaurant Week and loved it. Food was delicious and we could actually talk to our friends. We will come back.

I have been using the restaurant weeks to find new good restaurants. For most participating restaurants, if you don't ask for the menu of restaurant weeks, they won't show you the specific menu. However, I noted our waitress, Melissa, always mentioned to all the customers she served. (it didn't matter whether they came because of the restaurant week or not!) This was the first time I saw a waitress do something like this. I believe she deserves high praise!
I had a strawberry spritz from the cocktail menu, which super-refreshing on a summer night. The carpaccio was so tender, it practically melted on my tongue. The filet mignon was perfectly seasoned and cooked. The only meh part of my meal that I can't rave about was the bread pudding - it could have benefitted from soaking a bit longer more egg and milk.
Website indicates happy hour 4-7 but doesn't say it's only M-F. Also they didn't have our open table reservation. Veal chop was delicious but not worth $48. Crispy chicken parmesan was not crispy and nothing special.
Amazing food all around and the service made us feel right at home. We had a wonderful time!
Another delicious meal at American Prime. Took my parents here for their anniversary, they enjoyed every course on the summer menu. Would highly recommend!

We celebrated Father’s Day at American Prime. Our server Dory was amazing!! We all had their summer special - 3 course meal and everyone enjoyed. I asked dory her recommendation on the key lime pie or bread pudding and
She convinced me to try the bread pudding, I’m glad I listened to her as it was the best thing! All of us tried some and agreed their pastry chief has amazing talent!
Other nice aspects are easy parking and and quiet restaurant.
The charcuterie is excellent! Don’t miss the duck pate. Shrimp and grits are seriously delicious. Service is wonderful. Manager excellent. She stopped by the table a few times to see if everything was okay. I’ll be back often!
We dined on a Saturday night, with only four other tables occupied. We ordered a bottle of wine from their wine list (listed on a tabled) and after some time we were told that it was no longer available. We were encouraged to order a more expensive selection. My wife order the filet cooked medium (following the temperature guide on the menu) and it arrived well done. Rather than offering to cook a fresh steak, the waiter returned the steak to the kitchen and after some time returned the filet pieces clearly cooked well done. The other entree left on the table was now cold. The filet was completely dried out and tasteless. As we were paying and about to leave, the manager noticed the uneaten filet and offered to prepare a new steak. We told her that this should have been done when we first alerted our waiter to the problem. Overall the service was inattentive; the food mediocre as best and very expensive. Poor value for money and a very disappointing experience. We will not be coming back.
4 of us for a business lunch. Food was excellent and the service was spot on. Lunch started with the chef’s AWESOME Maryland crab soup for all. The special was a blackened cod and two of us enjoyed the special. I had the tuna salad and the fourth at the table enjoyed the salmon salad. Everyone commented on the quality of the food and the service. The ease of parking and great conversation made the lunch fabulous. Thanks American Prime team!!!
I really enjoy American Prime. I’ve been there a dozen times with friends for dinner but never for a special occasion. I took a friend for her birthday and was surprised that the only thing the restaurant did was to say happy birthday to her when we arrived. I was expecting the embarrassing cake with a candle or something with dinner but nothing. Other than that, the food was good and so was the service.
My husband and I had a very nice experience at this restaurant. We enjoyed our meal, especially the bread pudding we shared. The staff was friendly and professional. Highly recommend it.
While our experience on Mother's day was overall good, I thought the prices were very high for what we received. The service was excellent. Some steak entrees were overcooked. Not sure I would revisit because the price point was too high for the overall experience.
The ambiance and feel were good, but the meal did not wow, especially given the price points. Steak was quite dry, which is a very difficult way to have a $52 steak. The wine selection was modest by the glass, though priced reasonably for restaurant pricing. Service was adequate but not superior, as the waitress appeared to have a few too many tables. She was pleasant and happy, so it was an acceptable balance.
Liked the ambience of the dining room. It was very cozy and comfortable. Loved the bread and the mussels. Mushroom crusted ribeye was flavorful and the prime rib was very tender and juicy. Lobster ravioli was delicious. Service was attentive and staff were very friendly but as they got busy, we had to wait a whilebefore we could get someone’s attention. Will definitely be back.

I’ll start of saying the customer service and food was great ... the part that threw my off was that the whole restaurant was empty and it seem to be a party outside . I took my girl here for her b day and we usually hit Ruth Chris orMortons but I wanted to try something different .. I put in the reservation notes that it was a b day celebration but what we usually get . The cake at the end of something wasn’t done here .. they only knew because I said something.. don’t know if I was on a slow night or what ..,

The appetizer cheese board and the wedge salad were good. But the steak entrees were bad and in edible. I ordered the filet which was so hard to cut, was not tender and had a big vein in the middle I couldn’t chew. The seasoning was sour and I sent it back. My fiend ordered the ribeye which was a mess of fat and non-tender steak. She sent that back. The side of gnocchi had no flavor and the wild mushrooms had a sour taste. Their seasoning is not good overall. Desserts were great and the service was very good also. I’d stick to the bar area and appetizers.
Great place although hidden in an office complex. If in the Tyson’s Corner area it’s a must try for off the beaten path restaurants. You would not regret dinner here... and choices are plentiful.

Wonderful evening celebrating our anniversary at American Prime. The meal was delicious and our server was delightful. I have already decided we need to return for my birthday so I can try a different entree. I think I'll have the key lime pie again since it was perfect. I highly recommend you give this restaurant a try and enjoy!

The steak salad was excellent for lunch. We had a business lunch and were put in a corner where it was quiet where we could talk. Everything about the experience was really fabulous. Looking forward to going back again.
We went on a Sunday night. No one else was there. The vegetables that came with the meal were dried and shriveled potatoes and twice warmed zucchini. Otherwise, everything was fine. I guess that the weekday lunch hours are their peak hours.
