What Insiders Are Saying
American Cut is a reminder that all steakhouses are big, but not all steakhouses are boring. Hit it up for the next time you have a big night with your boss on the books.
A really great restaurant all around. We went as a special night out because we need to eat gluten free and they have GF fries (oil is not contaminated with wheat!) the servers were very knowledgeable and attentive to this allergy and we fully enjoyed the entire evening.
Was great. Waiter recommended some options for our 8 person group and it worked really well
It was a very nice experience, great decor. Amazing steaks and food. 100% recommended, great restaurant.
The food was good but the side dishes weren’t a good value. Sides were overpriced. Don’t waste the money on the dude dishes.
The steak wasn't seasoned enough. The seafood in the seafood tower wasn't as fresh as ideal.
With a reservation they made us wait at the bar and then after 20 mins sat us at a table that had been open the whole time and wasn’t even in the main dining room. We had no waiter and the hostess ended up taking our orders. I asked for the steak to be rare and it was at least medium. It wasn’t “bad” but it wasn’t good... for $160 / head with one glass of wine, I will not be going back
The service was outstanding, David really made us feel special. The steak was cooked to perfection and Chef Dan’s potatoes were excellent!
Came as a birthday dinner for my girlfriend. The ambiance of the place is great, it's a very cool interior. We order a tomahawk medium rare for the two of us, which was cooked to perfection. Took the first few bites and it...just wasn't good. It seemed like a bad cut of meat, it was chewy, lacking flavor, just overall very displeasing. The sides were delicious in the Dan's Potatoes and the carrot, and the dessert was good as well. Service was good when they paid attention but otherwise it was hard to get the server's eye.
We had a couple of drinks at the bar before dinner, bartenders are great, especially Jessa!
Dinner was amazing!! Chili lobster is an absolute MUST!!! Great restaurant!!!
Dessert was really bad :(
Andrew was amazing. My Fiancé and I enjoyed his service.
Enjoyable experience for downtown NY steakhouse. Nice vibe and ambience, attentive service, good martinis, flavorful steaks, potato tower was unique and delicious and the roasted lemon chicken. Great place to meet for drinks or dine.
Service very good but all the dishes were extremely salty
The meat was a little fattier than I expected for the price. The ambience was great and the cocktails were exceptional.
Only improvement could be serving pretzel in the dining room!
Great!! Would go again
The food was awful. Worst steak I ever had
Went to American Cut Steakhouse with my wife. We BOTH ordered and enjoyed the filet mignon, medium rare - hers plain and mine with a slab of bacon and blue cheese added as toppers. The steaks were fantastic, the drinks were very good, and the service was top shelf. when we arrived for our reservation, or table wasn't ready yet, so we were invited to grab a seat and a drink in the lounge, which we did. There, we waited a while to be served, and the seats were extremely low and difficult to get into and out of.
Great place to eat. Ambiance is outstanding and staff is very profesional and knowledgeable. Food was excelent and creative. Price was a bit steep and service was slow.
Food looked good but lacked flavor. We bought the tomahawk chop for 2 and didn’t think it was worth the cost.
Our steaks were great! Cooked to perfection. Sides not so much. Only the fries were exceptional.
We drank a good wine recommended by our waiter but wished that there were more choices in the $50-$85 range.
Made a request for a more private table in advance and the restaurant delivered. That was awesome, and really great service. I’ve eaten here several times and the food is always great. Love the atmosphere as it is not stuffy or pretentious. This is my favorite steak house in NYC.
Great looking restaurant. Food good but slightly underwhelmed by quality for price. Nice dinner though.
can measure up to any other steakhouse. Delish! dishes done just right.
would go again, for sure.
Had a great meal with family.
Great server as well as great entree’s.
See you soon!
Honestly one of my favorite restaurants ever. The service great, and the filet minon was outstanding. I would definitely come back again, but be careful because it is very pricey!
Had the valentines day pre fix. Lots of broken shells/sand in the oyster. The chilli lobster was extremely spicy. The dessert for two was horrible. Also requested a corner table Well in advance when I made the reservation and was not given it and there was no heads up when confirming the table.
I decided to take my girl to have a steak at a steakhouse for the first time ever... The experience started well enough. They welcomes us with some Mumms Rose champagne for valentines day. The server was energetic and seemed to really believe in the product. As we tried to order the server got distracted after just ordering the wine and ran off "to put in the wine order" and took roughly 10 minutes to come back. We ordered from the Prix fixe menu and were on our way. The incorrect started came out for me, and they just happened to deliver the only option which was $10 more on the prix fixe menu. They were happy to take it back and give me what i ordered but the extra charge was still on the bill when they delivered it. I had to ask to have it taken off. Her steak was undercooked and not evenly seasoned but, still good. My steak was cooked properly but had so much fat around the outside that it wasn't edible and took some effort to be cut with the steak knife (which they forgot to provide prior to the steaks arriving. I had to ask for them). The whipped potatoes were great. The Brussel Sprouts were bitter, we left half of the plate untouched. The macaron for two was phenomenal and easily the best part of the meal. The wine was nice and the somm was attentive and approachable.
For an almost $400 dinner, with tip, I expected more. I think I will stick to Benjamin's, as I know their steaks would have impressed.
Food and drinks were delicious!
It was an amazing dinner our server was nice and the food was good. I also like the style of this restaurant.
Great Staff, Wonderful Food
Disappointed to be sat in the basement. Really ruined my date. Do not sit down there, ruins the whole vibe. Also, no table side flambe.
We waited over 30 min. for our table and the maitre d never once checked in on us/there were many tables open that we could see! Once we were seated the food was delicious (despite cold béarnaise sauce) and the server was very kind.
Absolutely wonderful! Very special.
Had a really great time at American Cut
My only complaint was that my son wanted sliders and I felt like the waitress could not be bothered by asking the bar if we could have them in the dining area
But besides that the food, ambiance and quality of service was exceptional
I’m glad the front section near the bar is first come first serve. Perfect for a causal date or happy hour.
The service is poor. Waited long enough to get someone to order food. And it’s super noisy.
Lots of great steakhouses in NYC so why here? I’ve never - in my life - been so rushed that the dessert was put on the table whilst still eating the main courses. The entire meal was rushed. Horrible experience. I have also never written a review before, given time constraints. That’s just to emphasize my disappointment.
I chose this place for my friend and I during Restaurant Week and all of the food was great! Our filet mignons were cooked and seasoned perfectly. The staff was friendly and attentive. I really enjoyed the whole experience. I hope to be back soon!
