What Insiders Are Saying
American Cut is a reminder that all steakhouses are big, but not all steakhouses are boring. Hit it up for the next time you have a big night with your boss on the books.
The service was simply impeccable!! My food came out hot and timely. We went for our anniversary and it was the perfect choice.
The experience was incredible, first of all the thick cut bacon was on point, then we ordered a 12 OZ filet mignon and a 20 Oz ribeye, everything was delicious and cook perfectly, but it was my girlfriend birthday and at the dessert time we did order something and for my surprise it was in my bill 12 dollars. I don’t really care about paying for it is just the fact that is her birthday and I explicitly mentioned on my reservation. I didn’t like that to be honest I know the industry and free dessert on special occasion is the least you guys can do. Cheers
Excellent service, fantastic food.
I’ve had many great meals here but this time the air conditioning was broken and it was extremely hot which made for a sub par dining experience. They should’ve let me know or closed for repairs. It was not enjoyable for my clients which was disappointing
Forgot our spoons
Great restaurant. New York Strip was one of the finest I have had. Air conditioning was out so a bit warm inside but they provided fans and did the best they could. Always a go-to place for me while in NYC for business.
AC was busted in the restaurant and my steak was overdone...
Steak just ok!
This restaurant is beautiful, and the food is great. I took my boyfriend and his mother out for his birthday last Saturday night. I requested a booth for the occasion, but got a three person table instead. Not the end of the world, but we were placed right outside the kitchen, and every few minutes we had the staff pass by us which was distracting. The noise level where we were sitting was also very loud. You could hear the mumbles of every table's conversation in the room. That made it very difficult for the three of us to hear each other speak. Overall, the restaurant seems great for large groups, but I wouldn't recommend for intimate/special occasions.
Food was outstanding as well as service. When we left I forgot credit card on table and was contacted by staff that they had my credit card and would hold it for me to pick up. Super Service. Thanks
Restaurant was hot. Steak was not a good cut - Tough and fatty. They were not attentive to the needs one of my guests with a food allergy- they actually served them a dish with the food they are allergic to. I will not be back.
We had 10 people there last week. Service was fantastic from the Bar through the Dessert. Food was as you would expect from a higher end Steak house. Will definitely go again.
Food and service was excellent!!
Lovely service from the staff and amazing meals. The other half definitely loved the waiter and his attentive service
We came for the steak and it was terrible, so tough we could barely chew it. I am sorry we didn't exchange the steak for something else but we didn't have the time as we had tickets for a show. We left much of the meat on the plate.
The filet mignon was very tough. The dessert was very good.
Fantastic dining experience all the way around. We had read the recent reviews and were a little concerned but no reason to be. The AC was working again, the drinks were amazing. We had raspberry mules and smoky old fashioned. We were never left waiting for drinks. The food was exceptional as always. Steak was cooked perfect. Appetizer suggestions from the waiter were on point. We had the beef tartar, crab cocktail and the chili lobster. The lobster was spicy and the sauce was great with the steak too. Our waiter, Jared, was out of this world. He made sure the whole evening flowed seamlessly and we were able to sit back and enjoy the company we were with.
A very friendly staff with a smile give us me and my wife a nice table that we choose, The food was excellent, from the appetizers to the perfectly cook mignon. The desserts were out of this world! A memorable experience that will love to repeat! We are impress of the finesse of Chef Marc Forgione, we will highly recommend what we consider one if not the best Steak House in NYC!
Would not visit again. Food was average (steaks arrived cold and were impossible to cut through even with a steak knife). Service was chaotic.
The way a steak should be.
Cramped and a couple of very overly intoxicated people that really ruined the ambience .
Overall everything was impressive. Minus the fact that we had a 9:45pm reservation and the fourth person was running late. We asked the host if we could sit down at 9:55pm and she said no, then we asked what time the kitchen was closing and she said 10pm but that we still had to wait for our friend who would arrive around 10:10pm. So we were a little annoyed at her misinformation. I do not understand how she expected to seat us at 10:10pm if the kitchen closed at 10pm? Meanwhile there was still 10:30pm reservation available on OpenTable app? ANYWAYS. We finally persuaded her to let us sit at the table by telling her we would pre-order for our guests who was running late. From the moment we sat at the table the experience quickly turned into a good one. The server was fantastic, attentive but not intrusive. Although we did not order from the regular menu, we went for the restaurant week menu, he was very helpful. We did order in addition a few cocktails to start, followed by 2 bottles of wine, and then dessert drinks. The food was amazing, hats off to the kitchen. Steak and Scallops were cooked to perfection, dessert was my favorite part! Will come again for a 3rd time soon!
Air conditioning was broken
Very noisy and too dark. Food was ok.
AC must not have been working well...perspired through dinner. Asked for medium rare. .Undercooked the 8oz fillet and slightly over cooked the strip (although still to my liking). Understand they are very different cuts, but not our first steakhouse. I also can’t understand why they can’t quote a price on the half Japanese/ half American special steak for 2. Restaurant seemed pack with either young Wall St traders not paying their own way or millennial trust kids spending on mom and dads dime.
Went on a Wednesday for Restaurant Week dinner. The place was packed and the loudest restaurant I can ever remember being in. Original table assignment was next to the server station in the dining room. We did not accept that so they offered us a 2-top in the bar, which we also weren't taking due to the noise level. To their credit, they bought us each a drink to wait at the bar for a nice corner table, which would have been very good were it not for the fact that their air conditioning was not working properly.
We will go back because we have had great experiences there in the past but this one had issues. Recommend staying away from Happy Hour unless you are OK with a lot of noise.
Service was exemplary. Staff went above and beyond to ensure a pleasant experience in spite of temperature issues, and a private party downstairs.
This was my second time at American Cut. The food was exceptional, as was the staff. 10/10 recommend.
Went for restaraunt week! The food was great and the place was nice inside. Would definitely go again!
What a sad sad steakhouse. With some many other options in NYC, don't waste your time here. And if you do feel compelled to go, call first and make sure that their AC has been repaired.
Great way to celebrate a birthday - exceptional service. First time trying washugyu beef - which was a tomahawk cut that evening. Was without a doubt the best beef we've ever had - the entire table agreed.
Thanks for a great night!
from beginning to end this was an absolutely wonderful dining experience. the maitre d was responsive when we asked for a different table. the wait staff was phenomenal and attentive. the manager stopped by to make sure everything was good. i would highly recommend this restaurant
There was no air conditioning upstairs so we were seated downstairs in the bar area. Not a good start but it worked out. It was far from cool - but tolerable. It was interesting to be in a steakhouse with bar music in the background. Table seating downstairs was comfortable. Service was great. Filet was good but not amazing. Sides were also good but dessert was excellent.
I made a reservation during restaurant week. American Cut went above and beyond. Not only was their Restaurant Week menu selection fantastic, they also still served their a la carte menu as well. (Huge surprise since most restaurants do not during restaurant week!) Our waiter, Jared made the dining experience so great! It was my first time there and his recommendations were on point! I can't recommend American Cut enough! I'm looking forward to going again! Thank you for a wonderful dining experience. It was the perfect end to such a hectic work week!
Where do you go when it's "Restaurant Week", you live in NJ, you and the wife are on "stay-cation" and neither of you eats red meat? Well, the natural, no-brainer answer to that dilemma is "American Cut" in Tribeca baby!
Yes, when it comes to having all your fine dining needs met, and you're in the tri-state area, whether your palate calls for steak, fish or chicken, American Cut Steakhouse is like a day spa for your palate. We are foodies and love to treat ourselves to the best cuisine within a certain radius, and American Cut has become our new "go to" restaurant when we want to be pampered. First off, from the door, we will call ahead to see if our favorite waiter, Jared, is working that day. The entire waitstaff is professional, courteous, and as attentive as can be, but Jared adds a whole "nuther" layer to the experience. His down-to-earth, humorous, knowledgeable approach to your needs is just another topping on a well-seasoned adventure in fine dining.
The food, which is the star of the evening, never disappoints. The plating is done with such precise elegance and appeal that I am tempted to pull out my iPhone and just go paparazzi, posting to Twitter and IG, but I don't do it for fear of looking touristy. If it weren't for my desire to get these taste bombs into my mouth as soon as possible, I would probably be riddled with guilt as my knife and fork cut into these gorgeous pieces of plated art - likened to impaling a Picasso. Two bites and that guilt is gone with the wind.
The portions are well suited for a full-grown guy like me, with a price commensurate with the experience. If you become inundated with choices of places to go eat in NY, take the advice of this non-red meat eater who (if I ever decided to eat red again after 30 plus years) would go here to do so - all the other menu options are so amazing - go to American Cut Steakhouse. You will not be disappointed.
And if you get "our server" Jared, please tip him well. He deserves it.
Unfortunately the A/C was not working during the heat wave week. There were fans setting up in dining area but that really discounted the whole experience. Overall, food was good; we ordered one prix fixe from Restaurant Week menu and one entré - pastrami ribeye. The steak was very tender and juicy inside while crusty outside. Malbec was the highlight of the night.
One thing I do want to note; it's a steak house and it was Thursday night when half of the restaurant was empty. Our plates, however, were collected at a VERY rushing pace, not rude at all though. It just feels we were forced to speed up with the last few bites ...
Amazing food, ambiance and service!
Was surprised that they had a 4.3+ rating for all three categories in Zagat. You don't see it often.
Not too loud, perfect food, great service, and also a beautiful dining space. Waiter was very friendly. Had the pre-fixe for NY Restaurant Week. Did not disappoint. You get more than you bang for your buck.
Went for restaurant week dinner-- was very pleased with quality and quantity and service. Would recommend better lighting on stairs for descending to restrooms. Very dark and hard to see.
