We felt that while the food we did get was delicious, the portion size were a bit small.
Food and service was wonderful! Loved the presentation, and they let you enjoy your experience as we never felt rushed. The CIA is a beautiful campus, it was really worth the trip for us coming from NJ.
The taste of the food was outstanding however I was very disappointed by the portions of the appetizer and main course. Extremely too small and made you want more.
I hadn't been back too the CIA since 1978. Oh my what a change. More restaurants to eat in. The food was excellent. Service was great. The ambiance was a nice touch. Hopefully it won't another 40 years to go beck.
For those who have never treated themselves to a meal at the CIA, it's time to do so. American Bounty epitomizes outstanding everything! It's the students who run the show and they set the bar so high, that's it's almost impossible for another establishment to outperform them. The service is impeccable; the food is perfection and it's every bit worth the somewhat pricey lunch menu prices.
The restaurant, the staff and food far exceeded my expectations. The ambiance was wonderful and very relaxing. Our server Isabella was sweet and accommodating and did not rush us. We walked around the main building, enjoyed watching the chefs cook and looked into the classrooms, as well as the shops. Overall our experience was wonderful.
The greens soup was not good. It basically tasted like grass and dirt. The portion of rainbow trout for $28 was small but it was flavorful. The catfish combination of flavors was mediocre. $11 for a bowl of sweet potato soup seems a bit steep especially when you can buy at least 8 organic sweet potatoes for that price. Overall it was a pleasant experience.
The setting and the presentation were very good. The service and the actual preparation of the food was at a level that one might expect in a school, rather than in a commercial restaurant. When the main courses were served, one of our party never got her dish and we finally had to cancel the order. The servers were very pleasant, but clearly overwhelmed. The manager did make it up to us by comping dessert and coffee, but I just can't recommend at this time. May try it again but perhaps on a less busy day as this was Mother's Day Weekend.
The best restaurant at the CIA. We love that the students are the waitstaff. They try so hard to please since they are being graded.
I would recommend but only beacause of the nice outside Location and the Food ecperience
We made a reservation and expect to have an extraordinary Dinner but we have been located at a table in front of the Kitchen Exit and next to the aircondition.
It was one of the worst seating I have ever been seated although there have free Spaces along the Windows in the Main dining room. Felt totally uncomfortable and the Main course cool down in 2 minutes to due aircondition
Wonderful experience! Highly recommend.
Awesome food but service was in training and rough. Noise levels were low and it was easy to talk and be heard, we had a great family celebration overall.
The staff are learning, be patient. 20% is added for the staff. Don't expect much fruit in the fruit salad, one blackberry cut in half...
Best Lunch on the East Coast! Everyone was great thank you so much Chef Lavender!
Really enjoyed the atmosphere and service. The food was lovely to look at but, lacked enough seasoning and exceptional flavor. The portions were too small.
Might recommend to a friend but, mention the above shortcomings if they would like the experience at CIA.
The food and service was excellent. I would definitely give it more than five stars on here if it allowed me to.
Very enjoyable experience at CIA's American Bounty. We enjoyed talking with our server about his career plans in the culinary industry. The food was delicious. My entree (lamb) was slightly delayed. The restaurant manager made a point to come over and explain that the student had initially overcooked it, and the head chef insisted on a re-do. The final product was delicious. How refreshing to be a guest at a place that wants to get things right! We loved our evening here and would return in a heartbeat.
It was a wonderful experience. Food is phenomenal. We loved everything from drinks to dessert. Service was exceptional and everyone acknowledged our Anniversary which was a nice touch. Can’t wait to try other CIA restaurants.
Beautiful surroundings.. Everyone we met was very friendly and informative. Food presentation was top notch and tasted as good as it looked. Can't wait to go back.
We really enjoyed lunch at American Bounty and would have rated the ambiance higher had we been seated in the room overlooking the courtyard.
We were fortunate to have been there the last night of special three courses for $39. One course more delicious than the other. Lamb melted in my mouth. Presentation excellent. Beautiful atmosphere
This was my first visit to the CIA and it was wonderful. The food was delicious and service was prompt. It was super quiet when we arrived but then a nice volume was the dining room filled up. I’ll definitely be returning.
Thank you American Bounty for an amazing dining experience. As an educational institution you should be proud of your students for they really did shine today. We were treated like royalty from start to finish and our meal was absolutely amazing. We are still reminiscing about our breathtaking desserts. We're telling everyone we know you're restaurant is a can't miss.
We were their for birthday celebration and staff were aware thought they would sing happy birthday with desert. It was a milestone birthday.
OUTSTANDING! A wonderful dining experience from beginning to end.
Every step of our experience was exceptional. Ambience, service were great. The food and presentation were amazing. I really enjoyed being able to watch the kitchen through the big window. Highly recommended
The American Bounty is a hidden gem in the heart of the Hudson Valley. The ambience, service, decor, and food are top notch. We went mid week when it was a fine pleasant day. It was as if we stepped into Europe for a few hours. Blissful retreat from the hectic chaos of everyday life. A must see and do.
Well thought out combinations of flavors and textures with beautiful presentations and perfect portions.
The food and service was amazing.
Delightful and delicious lunch at the American Bounty. Couldn't say enough good things. The students who wait on you are just a pleasure - pleasant, professional and friendly. The host (I think one of the instructors) came to our table and shared some stories about the school and the kinds of work students do after graduation. Very welcoming and gracious. Nothing is rushed. Highly recommend!
Excellent! Excellent! Excellent! Food choices at lunch was very good. The wait staff was gracious. Ambiance fit the restaurant.
We were very impressed with the beautiful CIA campus. The grounds, ease of parking and helpful directions set the stage for a wonderful dining experience. All of the dining staff were very attentive and professional. As expected the food was wonderful. We had lunch at the Tavern (burger and duck tacos). Duck tacos is nothing we have ever been offered and they were delicious. We were back the next night to dine at the American Bounty. The Wagyu steak was unbelievably tender and delicious. Our server was Joe who did a wonderful job. We would love to be able to return at another time.
We had a very good lunch with the exception of inappropriate too loud music throughout the experience.
Our server did pass on complaint to manger but with no results. The server was apologetic and contiued to give excellent service.
It is a great dinner experience. Not only is the meal enjoyable but talking to the students is a great part of the atmosphere.Sharing their enthusiasm about food is all part of it.
We had 12:45 pm reservations for 3 of us on a Saturday, but got there quite early (it was a a long drive from central NJ and we didn't hit any traffic en-route). It was my adult son's birthday. He's autistic and loves to eat at nice restaurants. I've found that culinary schools allow us to eat quite well without getting all dressed up (which we don't normally do). I checked in shortly after 12 Noon and asked if they could seat us then or would prefer that we come back a bit later. They WERE able to seat us then. There were several empty tables, though some of them filled in after we had arrived.
The servers (mainly done by two students) were very good. Our salads and entrees were slow coming out, which wasn't a big deal for us since I knew we were early anyway. One of the servers mentioned that they were a bit short-handed in the kitchen, which may have contributed to the delay in our food, which again, wasn't an issue for us. They even offered us extra rolls while we were waiting, which we quickly accepted because they were very tasty.
My Charred Citrus salad and my son's Mixed Greens salad were very good. My wife, who tries to eat vegan, raved about her Winter Squash salad.
The entrees eventually arrived. My Pan-Roasted Chicken was great. My son enjoyed his Sake-Miso Duck Breast, and my wife liked her Grilled Cauliflower Steak, especially the wheat berry pilaf.
For desserts, my son had a Chocolate-Banana Tart and I had the Tres Leches Panna Cotta. Both were very good.
We only had water and one iced tea so I can't comment much on beverages.
This was our fourth trip to the CIA, and second year in a row that we'd eaten at American Bounty. I'm sure we'll be back again. I only wish it were closer to our house to we could get there more often.
One tip - if you're doing lunch and planning to visit the FDR site down the road, try to go there first to get tickets for an afternoon house tour. They may be "sold out" if you wait until after lunch.
Excellent food QUAL and service - looking forward to next trip.
Great service. We tried the prix-fixe offer and it allowed us to pick from quite a selection of choices.
We enjoyed our experience, and our server was excellent. But I thought the food was not as exceptional as I had expected, especially for the price. In particular, I had the only vegetarian entree on the menu, a polenta with mushrooms, and it had a strange consistency and bland flavor. I really hoped for more.
Let’s start with a bloody chicken leg and move through risotto with no risotto (but looked like poo), small portions, and bland, fishy pasta.
The cost vs. value, not worth the trip.
Need better quality assurance before the food leaves the kitchen.
Again, a bloody chicken leg. Yikes!
Very impressed with the food at American Bounty. Appetizers, Entrees, and Dessert were all excellent. The sweet potato-peanut soup was a standout. The soup was silky smooth with a wonderful peanut taste and a hint of chili pepper. Staff was well versed in the menu, so if you ask a question or a recommendation they will stear you in the right direction. Highly recommend.
