America Eats Tavern
Service was slow, we waited a long time for apps and then had entrees show up pretty shortly after appetizers. I waited so long for my drink I canceled the order. Our server was nice and was working hard, I think they were just overwhelmed and had too many tables in the same stage at the same time.
Really good food. Love the historical aspect
The food was not as great as I would have expected being the restaurant from a renowned chef. Service was fast but our waiter was sloppy
Was nervous because it's a jose Andres place but loved it. It's great for a friend group.
Great menu and the food met our expectations. 'Amelia' cocktail, brisket dinner and chocolate cookie dessert all excellent. Kudos to chefs. It was REALLY LOUD and the booths are not very comfortable.
Amazing experience from start to finish. Food was superb and tasty. our server was professional and very knowledgeable. The restaurant is very charming and clean. Can't wait to go back. Highly recommend.
Hostess was friendly and seated us quickly. Was nice to sit in the window and people watch. Server took awhile to come to the table and drinks and food arrived slowly. Noisy overall, but tolerable in the window seat. Food was disappointing for the price.
The food was excellent. They had too few waitstaff for a Saturday night and the kitchen got backed up. It took forever to place a drink order and even longer to get our main course, one of which was missing (although they comped it when it finally came 15 minutes later). The restaurant needs to do a better job staffing weekends so that dinner doesn't take almost 3 hours. The food was good enough that I would be willing to give the restaurant another try but certainly not when I have anywhere that I needed to be. The restaurant is very noisy.
Amazing food! The BBQ , the corn bread, Hotdog and Hamburger, all amazing!
We read about the restaurant in a newspaper article so we made a res for a late lunch. We were greeted immediately by a friendly person & seated at a table for 2 in the back of the restaurant which was quiet. The menu was so interesting because of the history of the food as far back as 1775. We ordered the Cornbread w/butter & honey which was incredible. The butter had a Smokey flavor & the Cornbread had pieces of corn for added crunch. My husband had the Burger & Fries which he said was excellent & I had the Mushroom Soup which also had a smokey flavor with Goat cheese to add creaminess with large pieces of Mushrooms. Wonderful flavors & can’t wait to visit again for dinner next time
Pulled pork was exceptional. Drink service was bad—this is an issue that needs to be fixed. It takes way too long for drink orders to be delivered and it has been this way for months.
Great menu and low key ambiance, we enjoyed the meal. Unfortunately our server was in need of much, much more training. Could not explain the menu. Our entrees were brought out before appetizers were finished so the table was crowded and we felt very rushed (not the intent for sure because we had an early reservation). She seemed to be very introverted so maybe this is not her thing. Another server working this section did a great job with the other tables so this seems to be a one-off issue.
The service was incredible. It’s clear that everyone shares a passion for their food and it is evident in how they conduct business. The food was also top notch. While a bit on the pricey side (which is average in Georgetown), it was definitely high quality. It’s also nice to see intent with a menu; many restaurants in Georgetown are just a copy/paste menu with little character. It was neat to see how they drew on old recipes for inspiration, yet adapted them for a more modern feel.
Copperwood is a great spot for groups as well as intimate dinners. The food options are delicious and there is a wide variety of drink options of beers and wines, cocktails and mocktails!
Best food (mind-blowing mushroom burger with a side of life-changing Brussels sprouts) paired with phenomenal service (hostess Mia and server par excellence Will) made this a great meal and night out (love Bkuegrass band!) with my 20-something nephew.
Staff was very nice. Food was average. They were very generous and brought us over a desert for birthday we were celebrating. Best part of the meal the cheese cake!
Great location in Georgetown. Good city vibe. Seems like our server was new. He was slow, didn't know the wine list well. Food was fine: beet salad was good/presentation was poor, pulled pork sandwich was uninspired but the french fries were first-rate. Was a bit noisy.
Food is what you would expect. Good ol BBQ. Not too loud. So nice to be able to talk.
Excellent food and ambiance in Georgetown
Love american eats great food great place n
Beef ribs were sickeningly fatty
Great spot for a meeting up with a friend or a group of friends to enjoy some southern cuisine.
Not worth the trip to Georgetown but worth a stop if in area. Good for small or large groups. Very different from the Tysons location. Much more casual
Wonderful casual restaurant with great food and drinks. Our server was outstanding as well. Highly recommend it.
Food was on the greasy side. Service was a little unprofessional, plates lifted over our heads to land on table. We like all the other José restaurants so were disappointed in this one.
Unfortunately, America Eats was having a bad night all around. Service was awful -- and was delivered by five different servers, the last one being the general manager. The original server kept blaming the kitchen for everything that went wrong. The food arrived separately, out of sequence, with the wrong side orders, and only lukewarm, which meant my dining partner and I were eating our entrees, sides and appetizers at different times. None of the servers offered to refresh our drinks, refill our water glasses, or ask if we wanted a second drink. We fled the restaurant before anything worse could happen, having turned down the general manager's offer of dessert, which was nice of him, but too late to salvage the evening. They did not charge us for the delayed appetizers. I think the food would have tasted good, if it had been served properly.
Distinctly average! Service was fine but food was nothing special. Expecting more from a Jose Andres restaurant. Wouldn't go out of our way to go back!
I highly recommend getting the pork rib and cornbread. The brisket was okay, not my favorite, but my friend loved it.
Great find in the heart of Georgetown! My wife and I enjoyed the great service from Shea, and the amazing fried chicken, grits, oysters and scallops. I highly recommend to anyone looking for a really good take on Southern cuisine in DC.
This is by Jose Andres, who created Oyamel, Jaleo and Zaytinia? It seems more like a Georgetown tourist trap than a special place. It seems like he said, ok, this is going to be American food, and American food is greasy and uninteresting. The menu wasn't very creative except for some truffle dishes on an insert. The shrimp and grits were doused in oil and grease, as was the spinach side. Unfortunately the service was very poor as well; I couldn't tell if they were short-staffed or if the servers were having trouble getting food to the second floor, but we were left alone for long stretches of time, like when the food came way before the wine and we had to wait to eat. Oysters came without utensils, then later they took my silverware but didn't bring me new silver with my entree so I had to flag down several people to help with that; and then they didn't bring me a sharp knife for my ribs (which also didn't come with any kind of towelette to wipe my fingers on). Bottom line, our server was a bit of a goof ball. The decor and atmosphere were nothing special either. It wasn't a nightmare, but for the price and the Jose Andres stamp, it was not what we expected. And I think this is the first negative review I've written here ...
Service was good! General manager was super nice! Food was good! BBQ chicken was amazing as was Mac n cheese and pulled pork sandwich. However, brisket was a bit tough .
Service was great. Food is still hit or miss. A few more healthy things would be great
Service was great, but deeply unsatisfied with my meal. I ordered the half smoked hot dog, which tasted way too much like mustard and the meat itself was plain.
This was my first time at this restaurant and didn't know what to expect. It was nice. We followed our waiter's recommendations and our food was really good. The service was excellent as well.
Pretty good restaurant, the seating was slightly awkward but was manageable. Food was delicious specifically the chicken wings and half chicken with Mac and Cheese.
Loved it. Shared a bunch of dishes (mac n cheese, cornbread, brisket and the ribs) and all were delicious!
Service was great. Had the shrimp & grits. Grits were bland, shrimp ok, sausage grissly & inedible. Not any spice at all. Probably made bad food choice. Others thought food good. Pricey for what u get. all sides extra.
Another winner for Jose Andres! Wonderful food! Wonderful time.
Friendly, welcoming place. We both had barbecue. The beef sandwich was a better value than the pork platter since the platter has no sides that come with and came with a large portion of fat. Service was somewhat slow given we were there early for dinner seating (but there was a big table there ahead of us). The meat tasted great, the chips seemed made inHouse and the sauce tasty and served warm. First time there, will try again and recommend to others.
