Really cool vibe and decor, our waiter was really nice but somehow our order came out wrong - and service seemed to take forever. The cornbread was really good- so were the fries. My brisket sandwich was ok. Worth a first try but not sure I’d go back for seconds.

We had a delicious dinner with help from manager Shea and our waiter Ameir. It was our first time here and they helped us with the menu. Great service , very attentive!! We loved the broccoli sprouts and the pulled pork was delicious!!

Mediocre food and much worse quality and selection compared to when this restaurant was at Ritz Carlton McLean. Worst Jose Andres venture, which is unfortunate

Great spot, fantastic food. Waitress/bar tender was super friendly however the staff that sat us didn’t really give us enough room for our table of 7.

The half chicken was cooked perfectly! I know it’s just chicken but the flavor was amazing. My boyfriend had the ribs. Said they were amazing. The perfect tavern!

My girlfriend and I enjoyed a belated Valentines Day dinner and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It's a bit noisy, but fun atmosphere, friendly staff, and unique offerings that included several truffle dishes since we came during truffles week.

The food was mediocre and the service was terrible. Not up to the standards we expected.
The restaurant was also supposed to place a birthday candle on my husband's dessert which was not done.

Great food at a great price. The best hush puppies I've ever had and I'm from the south. It was truffle month and the trufle mac and cheese and the truffle mushroom soup was outstanding and worth the money. The barbecue was plentiful and also excellent. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone. The server was also friendly and helpful.

First time eating at AET and it was the best bbq I’ve had in along time. Service was excellent.

Chose this restaurant because I had a Puerto Rican friend in town, to whom I had sent Jose Andrés’ book We Fed an Island. She had, of course, lived through the disaster, and her organization was involved in small business recovery.

We were catching up on past business and lots of mutual concerns. Very pleased with the food but the service was a bit too pushy..... I felt like we were being rushed. The restaurant was not full at all, so I was wondering if this was just the “American Way” of being overly solicitous (which I hate, I am there to dine and enjoy company, not to reassure waiters and staff) in which case it may have been a cultural misunderstanding on my part.

This was the worst Jose Andres concept we've experienced. Interesting concept but poorly executed. The service was friendly but SLOW. The atmosphere was dumpy and looked like it needed a good scrubbing. With the exception of the truffle fries, we didn't care for the food. I ordered the western omelet, which had a great menu description but was not good at all. They served an omelet on a sizzling skillet which totally burned the eggs and made me smell like I'd been working the fryer. My husband had the brisket hash dish and it was just a strange combination of flavors. We paid our bill and left.

The size of our group kept changing and the hostess and staff were very accommodating. We really appreciated that! Thanks for a fun brunch!

Brunch was great. Cornbread and Mac as and cheee were fantastic.

Overall great experience. One dish came out a little cold, but when we informed the waitress the manager came over with a replacement dish that was perfect. So I plan on returning and highly recommend. Food was fantastic as was our server.

We were there at around 11 for breakfast. There are lots of good options. Over the course of our time there the place filled up. It can be very noisy once that happens.

Would not recommend. The food was lackluster to say the least BUT what really did it in for me was the horrible, horrible service. Ruined my evening.

super unsteady service and I am not sure if it was a kitchen issue or a server issue. OUr drinks came after one of our starters arrived and then we waited another 15 minutes for the next starter to show up. The food was good but I am not sure I would make a bee line to eat there again after this experience. Props on the pear cobbler.....it was great.

The fried chicken and fish & chips are excellent, as is the cornbread. We also had a burger (meh) and caesar salad (tasted like a bagged salad kit). The beer & wine selection is mediocre, at best, but the two cocktails we tried were delicious (Blood & Sand, Cropping Rope). The service is friendly enough, but so laid back it's almost comical. Bottom line - I can't figure the place out. Not sure why I'd go back or why I'd avoid. It's just ... there.

I love the relaxed feel of this place. The food reminded me of my southern roots and their hush puppies are INCREDIBLE!

The entire staff was very friendly and attentive. Our server, Kevin, was terrific, catering to a fussy three-year old. We could not have been more appreciative.

Delicious food on the restaurant week menu and generous portions.

We went for restaurant week, but decided to order off the menu because we wanted a different salad and a different dessert. Well, the wedge salad was absolutely delicious, so that was a great decision. We both had the fried chicken, we got corn bread and grits, and they were all delicious. We were too full for dessert, and there were still plenty of leftovers. The service was fine, and we sat for 4 hours chatting without feeling rushed. The place is loud, and the one bathroom has a sliding door that opens to tables, which was kind of awkward.

The restaurant was accomodating about our food restrictions, but the restaurant was a huge disappointment and we won't be going back anytime soon. The waiter took forever to take our order, food which should have been hot wasn't, and we had to ask for desserts multiple times. The manager came by and gave some reason for the delay but it took a half hour for the dessert to come out. He did comp a few of the drinks. It's not a restaurant for adults looking for a nice dining experience.

I enjoy Andres' tapas locations and was looking forward to this. Unfortunately, we had to stare 10 mins at our drinks sitting unpicked up at the bar so my BF went and got them. Ribs were average with uncharred sauce on top. My salad had just lemon juice and ranch dressing was forgotten. Polite but unacceptable slow and bad service w/maybe five tables occupied. Disappointing and $100 for a meal worth about half that.

I have eaten here about 15 times and have never been disappointed. Well maybe once when we had a green server, but the food is always excellent. I order things here I would not usually order elsewhere because they way they prepare it and the quality of the ingredients make it special. Example - fried okra - its terrific here and the smoked yogurt sauce! Oh my. Everything is good, but make sure you get the lemon merangue pie - its one of the best bites in town.

If you like good service this is not the place for you.

We went for brunch and the hash, eggs, grits, and parsnips/carrots were delicious. However, the veggie omelet had undercooked, crunchy, unseasoned veggies with eggs laying on top. The coffee was amazing and the service was mediocre. A 3 star Jose Andres restaurant, but probably a 4 star restaurant overall. A bit pricey for the quality.

I normally don’t write reviews but feel a moral obligation to do this. The service here is the worst I have experienced anywhere. I would rate a self serve cafeteria better. The waiter never offered us food or drinks. Just disappeared after taking the order for our children. I had to get up each time to hail down someone for anything we needed. The waiter didn’t mind or apologize ever. In addition the food is really underwhelming and tasteless. This place is for someone that has only eaten at Burger King or McDonald’s and thinks this is an upscale experience but is to ethnocentric to try anything that might have a “foreign flavor”. I don’t know what we were thinking going here, other than trusting the Chef’s general reputation with other restaurants of his that we like.

We went for New Years Eve! Everything was fantastic- the surprise was the pecans and pickle appetizer! Don’t pass on that!

America Eats was by far the most surprising Jose Andres restaurant I've visited, and for a good reason. Jose Andres has done many spectacular things for the DC restaurant scene, all among small plate cuisine. By contrast, America Eats gave me what I often desire in DC dining: large plates of food for a great price.

My fiance and I ordered hush puppies and the vermicelli mac and cheese for appetizers. The hush puppies were delightfully sweet and salty and the mac and cheese deliciously creamy. I ordered a slap of pork ribs for $19 and received a massive plate of ribs (end rib meat included!) with a fantastic savory, smoky flavor.

Even though that was more than enough given everything else we had, we ordered baked beans and fried okra as sides. The baked beans were fine but I didn't think I would enjoy okra as much as I did here. With Cracker Barrel fried okra being my go-to mental image, these were whole okra lightly fried with a smoked yogurt on the side. Everything worked perfectly and my taste buds were delighted.

The cookie we shared (think of a pizookie from BJ's Brewhouse) was admittedly not as impressive as I was hoping for, but still tasted great and the perfect end to a fantastic meal. 5 out of 5 stars for America Eats!
