Ambrosia Restaurant & Bar
The menu at Ambrosia Restaurant & Bar changes with the seasons and the seafood offerings depend on what local fishermen were able to catch. However, wood-fired pizzas, handmade pastas and homemade desserts are always on the menu. The staff at Ambrosia Restaurant & Bar also includes a sommelier, so you'll have no problem getting a wine recommendation from the expansive list available. Local beers are also on tap and there are hand-crafted cocktails offered too.

the best eggs benedict in town! we loved it. the music was good but too loud.
We ordered food and they came back to tell us they were out . They had 100 wines and a full bar but I asked if they could make a sangria and they said no. From when we knew what we wanted till we received our food was an hour and a half hour!! Both our meals came with seasonal vegetables but his had way more variety then mine somehow. Small portions for price. Atmosphere was cute but antique.
Although the service and atmosphere were great, we have never been to an Italian restaurant where you weren’t given at least a soup or salad with your dinner. The food was overpriced for the portion sizes that are served and one member of our party had to wait for his food well after everyone else’s was served.
There weren’t many people in the restaurant— lots of empty tables—and they still seated us next to a table of six pretty loud people...no objection to loud conversationalists...but I’d prefer not to be sitting next to them...
We were greeted and seated immediately upon arriving. Our seats were in the front of the restaurant which made it rather drafty. Our server was either spread a bit thin or she was new in her position. She seemed to always be rushing back and forth between tables in a less than confident manner. We ordered the calamari which came out quickly but was under-seasoned and greasy. The entrees were delicious and filling with large portion sizes. I would recommend Ambrosia in spite of the couple of pitfalls because the food was delicious.
Ambrosia is a pretty restaurant with an interesting menu and some cool live music. We got the steamed clams as an appetizer and it was really tasty as well as the Minestone soup. However, my fiancé and I waited quite a while for our main entree we ended up having to take it to go as we did not feel like staying any longer because it was getting late. I think we waited over an hour. They were really sweet about it though and boxed it up quickly and offered a free dessert. So if you’re not in a rush this place would be okay.
The food was really good. We had the ravioli and the fettuccine and both were cooked perfectly, seasoned very well and the perfect temperature. The only negative was that the service was very slow. We were seated quickly and got our bread and drinks but waited over a half hour for our food.
The server was very attentive but never gave us the specials for the night.
Great restaurant, Love the building. Use to hang out there in the 70's when it was a cappuccino bar, but had forgotten the exact location. Nice to see it again.
We lived in Eugene about 30 years ago and in its first few years of existence, Ambrosia became our favoriate restaurant. This was a return visit as our son now attends UofO. It's good to see Ambrosia is still the high quality experience we remembered.
I visited there with my friends. It had a good atmosphere and I really enjoyed the meal.
A perfect meal.
The best breakfast calzone I've ever experienced in my entire life.
This is Eugene so you can't place your expectations too high. This is my second visit to Ambrosia and I always wait for the second visit before writing a review.
The food here has been good. I would definitely recommend the restaurant. Everything that I have had has been cooked well, and flavored properly. I like the menu options and the prices are very reasonable for the offerings. The restaurant itself is pleasant and clean.
The staff is very sweet but not highly professional. This is where they miss on moving to another level. You won't be too disappointed with the staff but they are a little unpolished. But again, this is Eugene Oregon, not New York City or the Napa Valley so this is okay.
I ordered their lamb ribs. I was asked how I would like them but personally I would like the chef to determine how they should be cooked, I asked for medium rare. They arrived cooked perfectly. I also tried the scallops and again cooked very well. All in all I have been very happy with the technical skill of the kitchen. The flavors get a solid 7 out of 10 and the cooking skill an 8.5 out of 10. In my opinion you will not go away unhappy if you visit Ambrosia for a meal.
Have been here twice. We love the food, atmosphere and service. We had 4 different meals and all were great. The dinner bread is yummy too. I enjoyed the appetizers better last time as the lamb seemed over cooked to me this time but the rest of the table disagreed.
Dessert was good also. Thought creme brûlée should be warm but I could be wrong. Drinks seemed expensive but good quality.
Overall, great restaurant , I'd recommend.
The ambiance was great. I liked the options on the menu but it was apparently not updated. The lavender cider was not available. I guest and I arrived around 7pm and they had ran out of the rabbit dish as well. If I go again I would like to try both of those things.
Unfriendly hostess immediately declared that we would be seated at the EXACT time of our reservation, even though our table was set and ready when we arrived ten minutes early.
Ill-timed bus girl asked to box up my food while I still had the fork in my hand.
Unsanitary and elusive waiter. I witnessed him repeatedly reach his hand into a stainless steel (condiment?) container in the kitchen to shove food in his mouth. He did not wash his hands between eating and serving customers.
Kitchen staff - Constant yelling. The pasta was dry and lukewarm.
We won’t be back.
Crab Benedict was incredible. Enjoyed our Brunch at Ambrosias very much. Service was excellent.
not particularly. was ok not exceptional. the service is exceptional. The atmosphere is lovely.
I live on the Oregon coast but have visited Eugene and almost always go to Ambrosia for dinner! I just love this place! Good food and good service and a beautiful setting.
Food and drinks were fantastic. It was a celebration dinner for my wife's birthday. It was our first time there and it was great.
We had an enjoyable evening!
The music was enjoyable and the service was good. The pizza was delicious.
Made a reservation for Valentines Day, the table was ready when we arrived and we enjoyed every minute of our long dinner listening to live music in the background, good wine and good food. We certainly recommend it.
It is our standby for celebrating family events. Only sad the halibut was not on the menu that night!
My wife and I absolutely love this place! We have visited on numerous occasions and I have never been dissatisfied! Highly recommend to all of our family and friends!
pretty disappointing. a large group apparently hijacked the kitchen. we were a party of 4. appetizers arrived after salads. 2 got entrees and 2 of us waited over 15 minutes. lamb was cooked well but had been sitting (go figure) so was just warm to the touch. the $38 halibut entree was overcooked and tough. there were other issues but i don't want to go any further. Oh and after dropping $200 on a pretty negative experience the server comped us desserts but never had a visit from the manager unless the guy serving water was the manager. that told me a lot.
Basically the Halibut was overcooked and dry and for how expensive it was, $37. for just Halibut with arugula on grain, it could have had more attention put into keeping the fish moist or adding more of the sauce. The sauce only covered about 1/4 of the fish and it was so dry, it needed more.
Great restaurant, great food, great service. Visitors from Tucson
Food was good but service was slow. We almost missed our curtain time. The problem was the kitchen not the wait staff.
They were out of a lot of food we ordered and get told they ran out and ordered something else and told they ran out of that. I don’t mind I just wish we were told before even ordering or even knew that before just in case we didn’t find anything else. But the service was great and the food and drinks that we got.
Overall, our experience was great! Service was excellent! The ambience of the restaurant was great...it was a little loud but it was a busy night. However, I feel the food is overpriced. My husband got the special of the night, Halibut on a bed of risotto and asparagus spears. The halibut did taste amazing but the portion was quite small.
I would still recommend this restaurant though.
Super accommodating staff, flexible and patient with changes and last minute needs. Great value and excellent cuisine!! The owner was engaging and attentive as was the staff.
Unfortunately they were out of the one thing we went there to eat on a Friday night, so we settled for other items. It was ok, but not anything I'll be touting to others. Probably won't be back.
The Hollandaise was crappy and the food was served cold despite the place being almost empty...
Fun evening with excellent service by staff and good food! I highly recommend the scallops they were delicious! There was a party upstairs which was pretty loud,we were downstairs eat!but we could still hear the music which was great. The only thing we were a bit disappointed in were the stuffed mushrooms- if there was any crab in them at all we sure couldn’t tell.
We really like Ambrosia. Service was great but the food was not up to their normal standard.
We had a wonderful meal with prompt service and tasty drinks.
Even on a busy New Years Eve, the food and service were fantastic.
This is one of my wife’s and I’s favorite restaurant so when we come to Eugene from California we always try to stop here but for the first time it was one of the worst meals we’ve had in a long time. I’m pretty sure both of our courses were premade and reheated when I got mine the food was cold and for how expensive is this place is this was a poorly made meal. We made reservations a couple days in advance but was never told that on New Year’s eve they were not going to be making their pizzas which are amazing so that also was a real letdown. I’ve taken my wife there since we dated in high school back in the early 90s so I won’t make this one bad experience stop us from going again but as expensive as this place is I sure hope it doesn’t happen next time because that might be a dealbreaker.
3 of us ordered Calzone. It was burnt. We tried to eat it. Our server was very nice and offered to talk to the manager about the burnt lunch. Management gave us an 18% discount. We weren’t happy. We are not the complaining type so we let it slide. We should have sent it back but we were hungry after a 35 min wait. I’m not sure we’ll go back.
