Everything was wonderful, but it was too loud for us old farts. They claim they are going to address the noise issue.
Great new neighborhood restaurant. Food was tasty and prepared as we requested. Prices were fare for the quality of the dishes. We will definitely return.
Disappointingly ordinary but well intentioned service.
I liked everything about Ambrosia except the noise. We had trouble having a conversation.
Excited for a new place in the neighborhood. Did not disappoint! Food was delicious. Service very good and friendly. My husband and I will be regulars!
Excellent food with generous portions, excellent service with thoughtful, knowledgeable people, BYO, and a menu with good variety of options are the pros. The negatives are the noise level, the cramped space bc, in my opinion, there's 1 or 2 more tables than should be there, and a slightly higher price point than I think is right for this location style and menu are the cons. That said, I'll definitely go back and definitely recommend it to friends.
What a gem! This place opened 3 weeks ago and I cannot wait to go back. I went with a group of 5 other people. We shared a couple different appetizers (salmon belly, octopus and burrata) and everything was absolutely delicious. For entrees, we had monkfish, scallops, NY strip, crispy gnocchi and ravioli. Again, everyone devoured their food so I’d say it was tasty! The service was incredible as well. My only negative is that the restaurant became quite loud once all the tables were occupied. I think this could be improved by incorporating some kind of fabric into the decorations. But overall, I highly recommend checking out this new BYOB!!
After reading reviews we were expecting a tight, loud, mediocre neighborhood restaurant. We were so impressed with the food and service, and they made quite a nice restaurant out of the old Sandy’s diner. The noise level was energetic but no more than any other similar establishments. The grilled artichoke was an excellent dish, much like a bruschetta w artichoke. The BAKED gnocchi were light and tasty, the monkfish was good, and the pistachio panna cotta was the highlight. We will definitely return
Amazing food! We love every dish we tried.
Wonderful- but noise level just got to loud!!
Our 3rd time. Food and service are fantastic. Great job.
Good service, delicious food. A very gourmet experience.
They are still working out the kinks of a new restaurant and were overwhelmed easily. We will not be dining here again. Res Ispa is significantly better, around the corner, and at the same price point.
- Seated 30mins late: 830 reservation for 2 and seated at 900 after a couple with an 845 reservation
- Allowed people to drink outside while waiting
- Hostess was rude and did not answer any questions
- Octopus was slimy and no texture, sauce was uninspired, char was bitter due to too high of heat, probably due to rushing
- Fried gnocchi was undercooked, essentially one glob. Mushy and no crisp from fry pan
- Squid pasta was overcooked and lacked flavor
- Service was good
- Super loud when busy, inconvenient layout
It is without a doubt an amazing restaurant, absolutely delicious food, beautiful ambiance, great service top notch Italian cuisine, would recommend to everyone.
A must try restaurant
Just returned home from the most enjoyable meal out with my girlfriends. From the moment we arrived the staff was attentive, and the space perfect for our girls night out. We started the meal with three appetizers, and omg they were spectacular. The main course didn’t disappoint either; I had the salmon and my friend the gnocchi. We finished off the night with dessert, and the remainder of our bottle of wine. Bonus being a BYOB. Can’t wait to return.
Great new addition to the area. The Papardelle and Monkfish were delicious and reasonably priced. The "Grilled Artichokes" starter was more like a bruschetta topped with roasted red peppers and marinated artichokes, and was tasty but somewhat small for the price.
Overall, the food was great and the service was very attentive. The biggest negative was the noise level as the restaurant got more crowded throughout the night. I'm excited for them to add outdoor seating in the future. Will definitely be back!
We went back for a 2nd time and again, the food was amazing. However, the noise level is almost unbearable, so much so that it’s virtually impossible to have a conversation.
I will admit, I didn’t have high expectations about this replacement of Sandy’s diner, but we are desperate for more neighborhood spots down near 25th and Locust, so had my fingers crossed it would be half way decent. I was pleasantly surprised! The quality and level of sophistication of the food that we had after just 2 weeks open was remarkably high. Frisée salad was delicious and perfectly dressed. Both our fish dishes were beautifully prepared with seasonal treats like fava beans. We were there on the early side and the place was quiet, so service was friendly and timely. Room filled up for the most part by the time we left at 7 pm, so that’s a good sign. The room however, has some issues.... I spent my meal staring at a fire extinguisher and thermostat behind my friend’s head and the pathway to the restroom was so narrow I had to sidestep past a server trying to get food from kitchen.
Definitely will be back and am hopeful it will be a keeper! Love that it is byob!
We are so thrilled Ambrosia is finally open and we hope that their creativity of meals and freshness of ingredients will stay the way we experienced it the other night. Absolutely fabulous. We’ll be back soon.
Way way to noisy to entertain conversation to person sitting right next to me. Service is spotty at best. Would not recommend this to anyone who likes to just have a good dinner with friends
Small neighbourhood venue, just opened. Very personable staff. Brick walls and hard floor combined with chatter and kitchen noise create a loud convivial buzz, which may be overwhelming if hearing challenged. Co-owners are working on resolution. Mains and desserts all extremely well paired, cooked, presented and flavorsome. Coffee was on the HOT side. Room for outdoor tables on sidewalk when weather permits. Will definitely return!
I am thrilled that this lovely restaurant has opened in my neighborhood. I only hope that it doesn't get too popular, so that there always is a table open for me...
Highs included the buratta, grilled octopus, and tiramisu. A low was the crispy gnocchi; it was under-seasoned, dry, bland, lacked any sort of sauce, and was simply gnocchi with pan roasted oyster mushrooms and beans. Definitely skip it. The scallops were a neutral in my book.
Ambrosia has been opened less than a week and I’ve already been there twice. Food is excellent and staff is very friendly and attentive. Our table really enjoyed the mussels, octopus, scallops, papardelle, monk fish and the short ribs. Can’t wait to be back and taste the rest of the menu.
lovely neighborhood place - so happy it finally has opened.
Excellent service and the food was really good.
New venue in Fitler Square area. Very Friendly staff. Sitting in tight. Menu is interesting but could expand for more variety.
Cute little neighborhood restaurant. Atmosphere was very charming, and the food was exquisite. Not the cheapest night out, but certainly worth every penny.
Thrilled to see this open up a couple blocks away from me, can't wait to come back for more.
