Best tasting menu I've had in the Bay Area. The portions were appropriately sized so that we weren't stuffed and the food itself was exquisite and inventive. The presentations, as you'd expect, were eye-catching and the dishes themselves were interesting as well.
We appreciated that the chef recommending how each dish should be eaten to maximize the flavor.
The lobster and the scallops were spectacular as was the wild boar and the elk.
And the French wine pairings were the best. Often pairings don't seem to be, well, pairings. Ambience's pairings truly complemented the food. And it worked both ways - the food made the wine better too. There are not many pairings better than the ones we had.

Multiple courses, beautifully presented, creatively executed, and without the temptation to throw in too many off-the-wall ingredients, just to prove that they can— a malady that too Many Contemporary chefs fall prey to.
It’s a pricey nearly three hour event, but the parade of colors and tastes keep Coming, so the time was well spent.
Dehydrated cod on sage risotto and wild Boar in black currant reduction were probably the best courses in the 7 course chefs tasting menu, but all were wonderful.

Having enjoyed many, many, exceptional dining experiences with them, our most recent visit delivered on every level. The scallops, the lobster, the wild boar, the elk......superb! Food was very good. Some dishes were truly standout. As good or better than some Michelan Star restaurants we have been to. My wife said they provided one of the best wine pairings she has ever had.
This restaurant is a hidden gem. I found it as I was searching for a dinner place in Los Altos, and I discovered it on Yelp. I went there for a celebration dinner with my friend, and we had a wonderful dinner experience. Service was excellent. The Servers were very attentive and knowledgeable. We had fun experiencing the chef's unique dishes on his Tasting Menu. Each dish was nicely plated, and I felt sometimes I didn't want to eat just so I could stare at my dish longer.
Overall, the experience was nice. I would recommend others giving it a try. It's definitely a special place to enjoy a very intimate dinner tasting unique delicate dishes. Will try again.
The chef is a culinary artist who has created a beautiful dining experience of precision and intentionality within a very specific aesthetic. We frequented his same-named restaurant when it was in Sacramento. He works as the auteur and the physical decor, plates, bathrooms reflect his sensibility, his desire to bring the diner through a very tailored experience. I think it works very well and he is certainly masterful. I hope people appreciate what he is doing and offering. I wish his restaurant was in a busier location where people expect and seek out this level of cuisine. Not to be missed and the wait staff was absolutely superb!
This is a place for a nice quiet dining experience. Food presentation was great, taste was good, great service. I hope this place will do well as it's a local establishment.

Valentine day Special prefix menu for $195.00 ++ the was good the portions was small especially the entree was really small. It was size of one bite if you can imagine it.
Service from Mack was excellent. Very knowledgeable about the food served as well as the various wines with the wine pairings. For the most part, the food was solid. The lobster dish was my favorite savory course, but my favorite course overall was probably the chocolate dessert. I will admit I was not a huge fan of the ostrich. Given the unusual nature of the fowl Course, I admit I would’ve preferred a more mainstream subsequent meat course rather than elk, perhaps beef or lamb. The series of amuse bouches were all quite nice. One thing that I missed was some element of textural contrast. Everything served was a bit soft, with no crunch to any dish as a contrast. The plating and presentation was outstanding, among the best I have seen.
We went there for a romantic evening and a special night out. The experience was phenomenal. There were 10 or more different dishes, and paired with wine. The dishes were beautifully and thoughtfully constructed. We started with 3-4 fish/seafood dishes paired with white wines, and went on to 2-3 meat dishes paired with red, and ended with desserts (a choice between passion fruit or chocolate). Each dish had a richness of different flavors that complemented each other perfectly. My favorite was the lobster bisque - buttery, fresh and succulent. The dishes displayed flavors of the east (bonito, yuzu and vinegar) and flavors of the west (red wine reduction, bone marrow). Every dish was amazing, demonstrating the chef's understanding of how to utilize each ingredient flawlessly. The service was excellent. Our sommelier was very knowledgeable about each wine and gave spot-on descriptions, and the reason for the pairing. We would highly recommend this place, and would go back in a heart beat.
This has become our splurge restaurant of choice because of the outstanding tasting menu and great wine pairing in a quiet peaceful environment. Our combination maitre d', sommelier, and waiter, was very knowledgeable about each course and the wines paired with each course. It was well worth the price for a leisurely, tasty and beautiful meal.

Not my first visit at ambience but just as amazing. The chef knows what he is doing and executes everytime. Being a local at the Silicon Valley area it is nice to know that there is a restaurant that really knows how to feature key ingredients and beautiful presentations. It is difficult to say what my favorite course is, each are unique in its own way. Try Ambience for yourself and you won't be disappointed.
Everything was absolutely wonderful and special. Chef’s Mrs was the most delightful hostess who also served us with our gracious other server Ed. They both made our special date (me and my son) most treasured and very personal. Thank you so much for a most memorable evening we will forever cherish!

An absolutely delightful dining experience. The pacing and portions were spot on, the staff was attentive and knowledgeable, and the decor was elegant and tasteful. Each dish was beautifully constructed in both presentation and flavor, with the premium wine pairings adding an entirely new dimension.
The evening as a whole was one whimsical journey of the palate -- we meandered between bites of scallops three-ways, contemplated the fusion of new-old/east-west in the sea urchin jelly, experienced guilty bliss from the Maine lobster tail, and had our taste buds elevated by the elk tenderloin cooked to perfection. Our adventure culminated with hand-crafted, gravity-defying desserts.
Highly recommended place to celebrate -- or create -- a special occasion.

Went here for our anniversary, excellent food, every course of tasting menu were interesting and had full of flavors. We specially enjoyed their hydrated Mount Lassen trout with citrus heirloom tomato consume.
Dinner was paced in perfect timing. The premium wine pairings were impeccable, the wait staff was very knowledgeable and attentive.

Enjoyed my recent visit to this lovely restaurant located in the heart of Los Altos. They serve an exquisite tasting menu that includes seared ostrich, scallops that is prepared and served three different ways. With each bite it exemplifies the creativity of the chef who in my opinion should be rated as michelin star chef. The restaurant itself is lovely, with an ambience to it that is truly welcoming and enchanted. The experience is truly unimaginable from the way each dish is prepared and served and to the remarkable staff that explains what each dish represents and the ingredients that come along with. Furthermore, the wine list is wonderful and a definite must try when it comes pairing it with each dish. Ambience, to me is one of the best restaurants that I have visited and will continue to do so.

We were celebrating our 12th wedding anniversary at Ambience .
The service and food were exceptional. We had been recommended to Ambience from our friend. Now definitely our favorite restaurant. It is simply fabulous!
Made a reservation to celebrate my wife's birthday on a Saturday night. We arrived 10 minutes early and there were plenty of parking across the street. We had the tasting menu without wine pairing, and the meal took roughly an hour and a half for 12 courses.
If there's one takeaway from this review, it's that overall, the food was really good. The first 3 or so courses (amuse bouche) lacked flavor, but everything that came after was delicious. Ingredients were fresh and had nice presentation. Some items on our menu were sea urchin, lobster, ostrich, elk, oyster, and black cod.
Overall the service was good. Staff were friendly and helpful in explaining what each dish was, and the best order to experience courses that had multiple components.
I do want to note that we were the only ones in the restaurant during our meal, which didn't bother us at all, but for those that likes crowds and livelier environments may want to look elsewhere.
I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you are mainly looking to try some good food.

One more time Ambience tasting menu and service exceeded our expectations. From the starting amuse bouche through out our savory course we experienced a delightful, delicate and flavorful combination of seasonal and local ingredients. The unique and impressive presentation of every dish is a plus.

I dined for a weeknight dinner last night, and truly experienced dining at its finest. What a treat to be able to experience multiple courses highlighting a variety of culinary delights! Will be back for more hopefully sooner rather than later!
