The new manager is the only bad part about this restaurant. The food is great, the staff is phenomenal, but the manager makes me not want to eat here anymore.
Not a good price performer and the service was terrible. My husband ordered a drink and 20 minutes later went up to the bar and got his own beer, that's when our server put in my husbands cocktail order.
Had to call the following day to receive Open Table credit even though on my arrival I gave my name and clearly stated I made my reservation through Open Table.
It was it first time here, and we had heard many lovely things about Amber. The food definitely delivered on flavor, which is my number one criteria. It was a prix fixed menu for Valentine’s Day, and I wish we had known that ahead of time - this wasn’t clear when we made the reservation, and I would have liked to have tried some other dishes. The meal was meat heavy and could have used more vegetable options. The restaurant and art detail is beautiful, however I think the lighting needed to be more dim to heighten the ambiance. Music would be nice too! The service was, in fact, lovely, however, and we will return soon!
Great presentation of food ! Delicious and unique dishes!Servings were kind of small!
Our party was totally amazed by the flavors of the dishes we had. It was the best meal I've had in the South Bay in a long time. We had the Tandoori chicken, a shrimp dish, a chicken appetizer. Just lovely.
Outstanding tasty food with good service. A little noisy at times but worth it for the great food.
Always delicious and the service is good. Wins the approval of visiting Indians and local Indian food lovers.
Great ambiance and the servers were fantastic. The food was delicious, a bit spicy for me, but I ordering yogurt on the side and it was an amazing combination of flavors that came through.
I am inviting my friends to experience "customer service" and "great tasting food".
Amber is way past its glory days. The food was sub par. The table was completely stained and made the experience unappetizing. The paint was chipping at walls. Sadly not a fine dining place any more.
Lovely as always
When I booked I let the restaurant know it was a birthday celebration. It was never mentioned. That was disappointing.
This is an excellent Indian restaurant. The lunch buffet is terrific. The ambiance is very attractive. It is more expensive than most neighborhood Indian restaurants but, in my opinion, well worth the price. It is one of my favorite restaurants in the South Bay, and I am not Indian or Asian.
The sister restaurant, Amber India, is in Mountain View. Very good food. The ambiance is not quite as nice, but fine.
One of the best Indian I ever went. Butter chicken like !
Too much money for over salted food. Expense account only. $120 for dinner for 2 (2 drinks, three dishes, tax & 20% tip.) There are literally dozens of better Indian restaurants in the area.
Poor service, over priced food, marginal taste, limited menu, run down ambiance.
We ordered a vegetables dish, butter chicken and a paneer dish. All dishes seemed to be cooked in the same sauce. No one came by to refill water, and overall a very disappointing experience.
We were dissapointed with our experience. Arrived at 1:30 PM. Several of the items in the buffet menu was gone with no sight of any refill. Most of the food in the buffet was finished and we had scrape through to get a few bites. Same with dessert.
I will NOT recommend this place.
Delicious food and great service. We were promptly seated and best Indian buffet in town
Taste is not good. So won't suggest it to a person who is looking for authenticate Indian food.
The Saturday lunch buffet was excellent. Will definitely visit again
They added 20% gratuity even though we were only 4 adults n an infant. Very unfair. Not that Service was not good but 20% by default is not justified!
Food and ambiance are pretty good. Menu is limited.
We love Indian food, but often aren't happy with the service or how greasy some of the dishes are. Amber fixes all of that- the service is professional and friendly, the food is absolutely wonderful and we even had left-overs! A great place. Generous wine glass pours as well
My 2nd visit to Amber San Jose was disappointing - some of our dishes seemed to be warmed up - one was tepid at best - the food quality is good but its way over priced so OK if you are expensing your meal - probably 50% higher than restaurants just as good - entrees should at least include rice/nan at these high prices - not sure I can make a 3rd visit to be honest
The service was sub par. Palak panner taste like yesterday's food. The kofta and dal were excellent. When we ordered Naan again, the waiter didn't get it into the kitchen. Overall, the service and quality of food has certainly come down.
High score for tasty Indian food, prepared with high quality ingredients. The spice is toned down to serve a broader clientele, but the taste is retained. The buffet is well priced for what's on offer. The live dosa counter is a nice touch.
Pretty much everything on the buffet menu tastes good, though some of the non vegetarian stuff has a common taste - could do with some variety in flavor.
The restaurant is nice and quite, which i like however the food was not spicy enough for me. Ti understand that they can not keep spicy food on menu because most of their customers may not like it but at least they should ask for spice level which taking the order so that People like me can get authentic india food with indian spice level and not American Indian
Goat was chewy and tough. Chicken was dry. Had good flavors. Items like salad, and a few hot dishes were not refilled quickly. The price is high end for Indian Cuisine. There are better ones in See an Francisco. Won't want to return.
We've been going to Amber for years now. The quality of food has definitely gone down. Appetizers are good but the main course has been very disappointing lately, especially the vegetarian options.
I have been here many times and am never disappointed. As a plus, there are plenty of yummy and interesting options for vegetarians (several included among family and friends!) . It has become one of my favorite places to dine because the food is something that I wouldn't cook at home. That makes it a treat to go here.
Expensive yet tasteless food. The SF location has much better tasting food. Even the Daal Amber (which you expect they have nailed down) had no flavour other than heat.
Food was good as always however for the first time we felt brown rice were over cooked and it had that burnt flavor in it. Rest everything was awesome. I will come back to this place again.
Butter chicken is awesome, service quality and ambience is impeccable
It’s nice food and nice service. Will definitely go back again.
Love going to Amber in Santa Row. Their buffet is always great!
Seated our group of 12 with no problem and everyone loved their food.
Truly amazing. Hadn't eaten there for a while and forgot how amazing this place is. We ordered chicken tikka masala and lamb vindaloo neither of which are on the menu. They made it for us special. AMAZING.
After numerous visits, the service never gets better. Food arrives before appetizers and drinks. Getting their attention is an exercise in futility, especially when they never check in periodically.
Recommend that you skip this pricey place.
We have been here numerous times and enjoyed it. This visit was a let down. It appeared the waiter was overwhelmed attending to a large group celebrating the Birthday Party and we did not get the service we were expecting for a place like Amber ($$).
