Best experience ever. Great food. The Gobi bezule (cauliflower) was excellent.

I didn’t enjoy the food here. I can’t recall ever having bad I dian food before. The rice had crunchy grains in it and the Butter Chicken has pieces of bone and cartilage in almost every piece. Who serves pieces of bone to customers? No, this wasn’t good at all. Especially since they charge Santana Row prices. The service was quite slow and inattentive as well. I waited longer for my check than it took me to eat my meal.

The Indian cuisine was lovely: the spices were an intrigue to our senses, the variety of texture and color infused the meal with interest and variety. And that is truly the description of India!

Good food, but overpriced for the serving size. My Butter Chicken should have cost $18, not $26. On the other hand, the bar serves an excellent Rye Manhattan, so it wasn’t too terrible. ;-)

Good Indian place for a casual dining or an office lunch out. Food is almost always good. This time a little extra salt had crept into a couple of dishes. Cutlery was not easily available for curries and desserts

Not nearly as good as the other locations. Not nearly the same menu. Skip this one and drive up to Mountain View.

We all enjoyed our lunch at Amber India. The food, as usual was very tasty. It's so easy, you sit down they take your drink order and then you go over to where the buffet is located and just choose what you want to eat. I especially love their version of rice pudding....delicious!

I went to the afternoon buffet on a Sunday. Santana row has a brand new parking (free for now) which improved the accessibility to that end of the street. The place was cozy and they had reserved seats for us as per our OpenTable reservation. The buffet was moderately priced given the location, menu prices and ambience but the positives ended there and food/service was generally average.

The buffet options were limited. Rajma and Chole mix was a weird dish which I saw for the first time in a fine dining restaurant. Sambhar was the only South Indian offering, and they were better off not having it at all. All dishes were very mild flavored and spices were much tempered and bland.

The buffet refills were slow and the salad wasn't refilled for the full 45 min we were there. Few buffet dishes were refilled after requesting a couple of times. Sakoon in south bay does a much better job at lunch buffets in pretty much every regard.

I have been to the restaurant before, and I felt that their menu orders are much better tasting than their buffet items. In this visit, we ordered Dahi Ke Kabab in addition to the buffet and were disappointed there too. The curd was sour and chutneys were brought much later.

In total I feel they are a good $$$ category restaurant for evenings/dates, but average $$ offering for lunch buffets. Their ambience and service politeness were high quality and I would still recommend the place but not for their buffets.

As I have just discussed with the manager, there is no reason to order sea bass anywhere else. The chef treats the sea bass with respect and properly prepares this delicate fish. The flavors from the marinade are divine, and the delicate texture is not lost in the clay oven.

The service is impeccable. Nothing more about that needs to be said.

Extremely loud place. No music. Worst service I ever received in a fine dining restaurant. Food was served without cutlery. And we had to ask for everything one by one - first silverware, then napkins and then water. We left after appetizers.

Very good overall
Only complaint is that the sea bass curry we used to enjoy had been changed to a mango / fish curry - still good but the fish not as delicate or enjoyable as before

Service was poor. I waited for the naan and never came. We had to wait for the cold water to arrive about 15 minutes. The goat korma was not tenderized and tough to eat. The fish pakora contain mostly dough and hardly any fish.

Amber India continues to disappoint with food quality, service and general value. Don’t plan to go back for a long time. They just seem to don’t care about the customer.

The quality of the food was mediocre. Over the years Amber has lost its edge. The food catered more to an American client base rather than for the Indians. The Alleppey sea bass curry was disappointing. The fish was previously frozen fish and the gray was too thick and creamy. The nans were also not freshly made as they were tough and dry.

Needs an upgrade on their ambience(some basic remodeling will help). Overall, it was a good dining experience. Good food and drinks. I'm wasn't a big fan of Egglant until a point I tried their Baingan Mussallam, highly recommend this dish for Veggie lovers. Also ended up ordering Murg Shahjehani (not sure if this is what it is called) but it a white meat chicken but it was tender and the curry had all the right spices and ingredients. This wasn't creamy at all, makes it a healthy choice. I highly recommend this place and being in the heart of Santana row makes it a perfect choice for someone craving for Indian food.

Over the years, Amber has lost a lot of its class. The food used to be exceptional but not anymore. The day we went the paneer was hard and dry, the spinach puffs were over before we could get to them, replaced by some samosas, the kachori was also dry and the dessert menu was extremely ho-hum. This is not good value for money by any stretch. I had treated my colleagues there last week for an event, and it didn’t impress at all!

Took my Boyfriend for his birthday here, it was his first time trying Indian cuisine and the waiter was very knowledgeable about explaining the dishes to him. We enjoyed the great drinks (try emerald mirage) the food was delicious and he and I left feeling like we had the most enjoyable dinner experience. Thank your the great service we will definitely let our friends know about this awesome spot.

1) The service was extremely slow and poor, but the business was even not that busy. 2) Naan breads were not allowed to have more as complimentary??? First time happened to me at Indian restaurants. Definitely we won’t go back again. Very disappointed.

The menu choice for vegetarians in the buffet was not upto expectations. There was this Sambar but interestingly the side dishes were North Indian gravies- how does one manage?

I have visited Amber in S-Row couple times over last 15 years, and I notice some changes. Previously the menu was more towards the fusion type meant for non-Indian audience. Now, I feel the menu has changed towards traditional to appeal to Indian audience. The food now has some kick because of enhanced spice levels. Liked it. had reached early and ambiance was wonderful.

The kandhari kofta was quite arrogant - took a while to break it down. Daal makhani was clearly on a diet and many of the ingredients seem to be on strike that day.
Chingari paneer tikka and stuffed aloo starters came in plates decorated with ketchup.
The staff did not provide half plates for starters. Then proceeded to remove them and put our used cutlery on the table surface which did not have table cloth or anything. Had to ask for new set of cutlery.
There was no attempt to ask for desert. We asked for a menu but no one wanted to know what we thought of it.
Eventually we got up to walk to the terminal to pay for our meal as it didn’t seem anyone was interested in taking our cheque.
It was extremely noisy - was not a pleasant or relaxing experience ar all.
I had expected a little more from a fine dining place.

Ordered gobhi manchurian and mixed tandoori platter for appetizers. They were okay. Ordered mixed bread, kofta, spinach in cottage cheese, lamb rogan josh and chicken biryani. Except for chicken biryani, rest of the dishes were average; certainly not to justify the $25 price for each dish. Serving size also small. There are several other Indian restaurants in Bay Area, whose food is perhaps tastier than Amber - Santa Row and they are much cheaper.

The food was exceptional. I have been a customer of the original Amber India location for many years. The level of quality and service at Santana Row matched that of the restaurant on El Camino.

The lamb curry was wonderful. The chicken biryani was mouth watering. The chicken was literally falling off the bone.

If you love Indian food, you'll love Amber India. I have been coming here since it opened, and it's always delicious. They took one of my fave dishes off the menu, but when I asked, they said they could still make it! Such great customer service.
