Amber India - Mountain View Ratings and Reviews
I️ was disappointed. Amber was a favorite. It was my “Go to” for delicious Indian food. This was my first time in their new location. I️ feel the menu was not what it used to be. The food —paneer, cherry bread and samosa was ok. Sadly,
I️ will not be returning. It was quite expensive—I️ want it to be a treat for that price. I️ prefer other Indian Restaurants.
The food was OK but the service was way too fast! We barely had time to swallow our last bite of appetizer that the meal was on the table. We were there for a birthday party and wanted to enjoy the evening. We ended up ordering, eating and paying within 55 minutes for 4 people. Food was OK, way too much cilantro in some dishes (for my taste) but the low rating is really due to the speed of the service NOT the quality of it. Quality of service was great.
Good place for Indian food. We have dined here several times. Each time, service needs improvement. Servers are not the most personable. Our glasses of water were served lukewarm (it was a warm day). I asked for ice only to request it a second time from a second server after waiting 15 minutes.
We have been here 3 times and think the setting and food very enjoyable. We were very surprised this time at how few people were dining when we arrived as before it has been quite crowded. We also noticed the the staff at check in was much friendlier which had been a criticism. In fact two or three came around to ask how things were and urged us to come again!
We studied the menus before we came so knew exactly what we wanted to order. One can order too much easily. It was a nice sojourn and we do hope they stay open.
It continues to be our family's go to Indian restaurant. They have so many fresh and varied choices on their lunch buffet and even more on the weekends. They refill the buffet table constantly with freshly prepared items and also bring you as many fresh hot naan to your table through out your meal. The service is efficient and non-intrusive also.
The food is very flavorsome and authentic Indian. A few of the dishes were very hot to a point that you cannot taste the flavors of the dish. It would have been nice if our server had guided us on the portion size as well as the hot /spiciness when ordering. The portions on the Tandoori mix grill platter were quite small and inadequate for sharing /tasting for 4 persons. For 1-2 persons, it would be great to have a sampling / tasting menu so that one could experience the variety and savory tastes that the kitchen offers.
