Ambassador Dining Room
We made a 7:15 reservation on a Friday night. Waited almost 10 minutes at the host stand before we were seated. Waited 25 minutes at the table, and nobody even came to take our drink order. We got up to leave, and told the manager on the way out that we never had a server come to the table. He argued that "he sent someone over to us." The restaurant was not busy (maybe 12 tables) and they could have been short staffed, but this was pretty unacceptable. I don't believe I've had such poor service anywhere else in Baltimore. We walked around the corner and had a lovely meal at Cypriana.
Service was good. I love the atmosphere - the Ambassador has a great outdoor dining area. There was an issue with the food which I have noted to the owners.
Gorgeous restaurant and food was great. Perfect for a reunion with friends as we ate on the patio.
Beautiful night @ a beautiful place. Very Tasty.
The ambiance is the most special part of dining at The Ambassador. While I would not say the service on the evening of our visit was exceptional(some attentativeness was lacking), it was very good. The food was outstanding. I enjoyed the squash soup immensely, and it was the perfect accompaniment to the first day of autumn. The chicken in my meal was only slightly dry, but everything else was delicious!
Excellent food with great service at very good prices
The attentive but not intrusive service, the delicious food and the wonderful atmosphere on the patio made for a memorable birthday celebration. It was nice to be back at The Ambassador.
Excellent food, service, and atmosphere!
Beautiful location and wonderful food
The usual. That is great food, friendly professional service at a very good price. Well done.
This is a wonderful place to have an outdoor meal in Baltimore.
We have been here several times before and were always very satisfied. This time, not so much.
First, we wanted to redeem a gift card that was a present to us, and the new owner said they do not accept them if purchased before the restaurant changed hands in December 2020. He explained that the previous owner received the money from those purchases and I should check with the prior owner (I did - Peerce's in the county. They say the funds went to the new owners with their purchase. Someone is not telling the truth!).
Anyway, the food. They no longer provide rice in bowls at the table so you can take the amount you want, they put a mound on each plate in the kitchen before bringing the plates (if you want some to take home don't eat it all). The portions for dinner meals such as chicken tikka masala are much less than before (too little for the price). My favorite dish, which was an apricot chicken (mish mishya?) is no longer on the menu. The kheer lacked pistachios, instead topped with some candied fruit pieces (it's much better with pistachios). The Kashmiri naan had the same candied fruit in it which turned the bread and slivered almonds pink.
Overall, we were disappointed.
Wonderful birthday dinner spot! Lovely atmosphere and the chef is very accommodating to prepare dishes made mild for families. Highly recommend. 👍🏻
We were running late, the staff went out of their way to still feed us. Really good customer service, and, as always, amazing food
Lovely place with excellent food!
Did not honor reservation for outside seating, even though outside seating was chosen as an option and written in the comments. Went elsewhere.
Wonderful! Beautiful setting.
We sat out in the beautiful garden and enjoyed a delicious dinner with excellent service. It made our special occasion truly special!
Servers were socially awkward and not super friendly. Food was not that great and we left before ordering an entree
Our go to place for graduations and Mother’s Day.
The food was very good, as was the table service. The ambience was lovely on the terrace albeit a bit chilly. The problem came when we paid the bill. We gave the server our credit card. She in turn gave it to the manager to process. He came back to us and said we had not left a credit card. He was very defensive. We looked all over the restaurant to no avail. Our dinner companions paid for dinner. No apologies or offer for any compensation was offered. We had to immediately cancel the card and go through the hassle of notifying all our automated payments. It left a very bad taste in our mouth. To top it off, the manager found the lost card two days later! Very bad service on the part of the manager.
Excellent food personable service at an outstanding price
Lovely experience, yummy food, great service as always
I am always excited to bring a first timer to the Ambassador as I know the diner will be awed by the food and the surroundings. Such was the case for this visit! The owner always makes the rounds to thank diners for coming without being intrusive
Lovely setting with authentic Indian cuisine.
Fresh ingredients with vivid spices.
Nice time as usual. It’s a favorite date spot. Cant wait for them to start brunch again.
The Ambassador Restaurant has always been one of my faves! Was sad to see that the Sunday Bruch buffet was not there, but during times of COVID, is understandable. The owner said that if he can, he will re-launch the Sunday buffet in June or July.
This was not our first visit to the Ambassador, but it was by far the best. The evening was a celebration for our son and his fiancee, and the wait staff took very good care of us. I have a pepper allergy, so eating Indian cuisine is usually risky. The kitchen prepared a shrimp dish that was not only free of pepper, but delicious. The food that the rest of our party enjoyed was outstanding. The evening was chilly, but the patio with the fireplaces kept us comfortable in a room that was open to the outside. This setting was not only romantic, but compliant with COVID guidelines. We will definitely be back soon.
I’ve always loved the Ambassador. The staff is always gracious, the ambiance peaceful and pretty, and the food delicious. It’s definitely the best outdoor dining setting in Baltimore. They could perhaps do a bit more with their wine list (more choices, perhaps recommend pairings?) but this is only a suggestion, not a complaint. Dinner, lunch, or brunch buffet, this place never disappoints!!
outstanding service excellent food and well priced!
This is our perfect night out for dinner, we’re beginning to make a weekly habit of it.
Delivers quality food in a lovely atmosphere with lots of air coming through the open garage doors. Would love an expanded beverage listing on the menu.
The Ambassador has always been one of my favorite restaurants. I had forgotten that it was sold by the original owner and my previous experience there after the new owner took over wasn’t great. But I figured they had worked out the kinks. They did not. The food was good but not as good as it once was. The service was TERRIBLE. Our appetizers came quickly but they changed the recipe of the meat samosa and it’s not as good anymore. Then, it took a long while for our main courses. No one checked on us after our meal was served and our empty plates sat in front of us for 30 min before I flagged down a waiter. When our waiter didn’t come back, I had to ask for the dessert menu. They didn’t have a dessert menu but told us what they offered. It took an unusually long time for us to get one cup of coffee and one dessert (rice pudding—not as good as I remembered from previous visits under former ownership). I didn’t even have to say anything and they comped our coffee and dessert. I am not likely to return. I’d rather go to Peerce’s (now owned by former owners of Ambassador) which is always a delicious meal with exceptional service, the way The Ambassador used to be.
They were very accommodating for the vegan in our party. Hopefully, they will consider adding more vegan choices.
Excellent food and great friendly professional service
This is a neighborhood gem within walking distance. The food and service never disappoint and the outdoor seating (especially by the fire cannot be beat).
I am vegan and there is something for everyone on the menu
Great service excellent food. Always pleasant atmosphere.
