Amazing! This is arguably the best restaurant in Washington DC!
Last meal service before the renovation so they were out of some of our favorite dishes. We go here often and enjoy ourselves every time.
I love Ambar! This was the last day they were open before closing for a renovation to double the size of the space. I can’t wait to go back in April 2020 and check out the new place and the additions to the menu. You won’t go wrong here it is amazing
Ambar was great. I look forward to trying it again when it reopens after renovations.
Bartender was our waitress too. She was fantastic. The food was wonderful and tasted and quick service. Love Ambar!
Went out with friends and we had a fantastic time! Everything we ordered was delicious and the service was solid.
Already planning my next trip!
I love their quick lunch menu. I think it is a great value to experience little bit of everything or more of what you love. Keep it coming. The service is friendly and punctual.
The food here was amazing. The Balkan experience is such a great value -- especially with how great the food and drinks are. I found the waitstaff to be incredibly helpful and they provided great recommendations for what food to try. I will definitely come back again and I've been telling my friends that this is a required restaurant in DC.
We went for restaurant week and thoroughly enjoyed it! The leek croquettes and the meat pie were our top favorites!
The foood was amazing and so were the drinks. The waffles are to die for- crisp and well done. Berry mimosa was my favourite
I've only ever done the balkan experience here but every dish I've ordered has been delicious. The mimosas are perfect. The peach mimosa has lavender in it that you can actually taste.
While I was very excited for this experience looking at the menu, the food was a hit and a miss. Since it was 3 of us dining, we were able to try 80% of the menu items. Of everything we tried, it seemed like something was missing or tasting really ordinary. Nothing on the menu really blew me away. What I also found strange was that the Ambar Experience while limited to small plates (which isn't an issue) had no dessert options.
It felt like an incomplete meal for that reason and overall not value for money.
Great food all you can eat was fantastic drinks were great too. Fav dc spot
Best place in DC, start here and look elsewhere. Best place to dine, hands down.
My three friends and I enjoyed our Restaurant Week experience at Ambar. Two of my friends are well versed in Serbian and Balkan cuisine, having spent extensive time in the reason for both study and work purposes, and so while the food isn’t the most authentic, I can say from my own experience and theirs that the interpretation is true to the spirit and also quite delicious. Not my first time dining, the small plate style portions are smaller than I remember, most notably the delicious cauliflower, which I ordered only to receive two or three florets on the plate. Were it not for the unlimited nature of the menu and my ability to triple order the side at no additional cost, this would have been a much larger issue. Other notable dishes include the Brussels sprouts (with bacon and a lemon garlic yogurt sauce), the bright red ajvar, savory chicken skewers, the stuffed pepper, lamb medallions, or beautifully presented shrimp skewers with asparagus and prosciutto. This marked down deal on their regular menu is really unbeatable for the value, and provides a delicious window into a cuisine infrequently experienced in DC and on this side of the Atlantic overall. Our server was fairly attentive and they were generous with the stated two hour time limit, allowing my group and I to stay fifteen minutes over our welcome on a Friday night before we parted ways. The drinks, while delicious, would have been appallingly weak to any true Eastern European who came to the restaurant on a visit to DC, I will say as an American that they indeed could have been stronger. Next time I will have to opt for wine over cocktails when enjoying the $14 unlimited drink add-on. All in all, I would recommend for any group looking for a high value, delicious, different experience with their friends or a date.
This place is awesome. I will be returning sooner than later.
Had lunch for the first time with another couple during winter restaurant week. It was AYCE with small plates. There were a lot of choices and the food was very good. The four of us were seated upstairs but was a tight squeeze and rather noisy. Everyone liked it and will definitely come back.
Súper experience during restaurant week. We will definitely be back.
Amazing food. Huge selection of meats and vegetables- so well rounded selection of vegetarian and carnivores offerings
Went for restaurant week and loved it. Food delivery was a bit slow and inconsistent but was great tasting when we got it. Will return when it’s not so busy.
They were extremely accomodating for a guest with dietary restrictions (gluten, dairy). Food was excellent, service friendly and very helpful with recommendations.
Wonderful experience, highly recommend for anyone looking for good Balkan cuisine.
Great place to try some awesome food. You never leave hungry and if you do, you did something wrong, lol.
All the food was amazing! And the unlimited drink specials?!! Can’t get a better deal
Amazing food and service. Loved AMBAR, will definitely dine here again!
I loved, loved, loved my unlimited dining experience at Ambar. I can count on one hand the number of small plates I did not enjoy. That says a lot with Ambar’s expansive menu. Also, the drinks were good. I will definitely be back in the future with friends.
The food is good I just didn’t like how long it took for dishes to come to your table. We were ordering our next dish before the first came out.
Great food, energy and service! Some day I will make it through ALL the small plates!
Very rude service. Waitress was not familiar with the menu and took it out on me.
We had a great time! We always come here. Definitely a favorite.
Great meal opted for the $49 all you can eat menu which was excellent value a good choice of drinks included. Wait staff really nice helped with food choices. We recommend and would return if in town.
I absolutely love Ambar's dinner menu, so I was enthusiastic about trying the all-you-can-eat brunch. However, I discovered that the menu selection was limited and every dish that my friends and I tried (and there were many) was served cold. The value was not nearly as good as it is for dinner, and we left feeling that the menu received short-shrift because many brunchers are mainly interested in bottomless drinks. It looked like the a la carte entrees were prepared with a lot more care.
I appreciate the call to confirm table reservations. It was a busy night and I enjoyed confirming that we still had a table.
Some friends and I went to Ambar for brunch on a Saturday afternoon. The restaurant was packed and we were seated upstairs at a high top table. Our table did the $39 balkan experience that allows you to order unlimited tapas and brunch drinks (different types of mimosas and bloody mary) during your 2 hr reservation. I think the price was worth it. The tapas were very small so it would not have made sense to order anything a la carte. Some of our favorites were the veggie omelet, potato hash, roasted mushroom crepe, and zucchini burger. I would definitely come back.
