This is our 2nd year visiting Washington from Connecticut. Ambar Restaurant is by far the highlight of our visit, including monuments and museums. The taste, variety and value of the food on the unlimited menu is hard to believe. The staff took great care of us. We look forward to visiting Ambar again next year.

We went to Ambar for dinner and couldn’t have been happier with the experience. We chose the Balkan Experience and it was worth every penny. The dishes kept coming out and everything was delicious.

Excellent! $50 for all you can eat small plates and drinks or $35 for just all you can eat food. Great food and an excellent deal. We had a wonderful date night! I recommend the stuffed cabbage (:

Ambar is not only reliable food, but an excellent dining experience altogether. We always try something new and are never disappointed. Our service was wonderful. We love ambar and always chose it to take visitors from out of town. Tonight was no exception.

Four for dinner, so reservations were a good idea. We tried the tasting menu - one price, tried twice as many dishes as if we ordered separately. EVERY DISH WAS DIFFERENT AND DELICIOUS!!! My favorite was the sour cabbage. Something on the menu for every guest. We had great conversation and it was fun to share plates on try the variety offered. A really great value too. Our waiter was attentive, made great recommendations, and allowed us to have a vibrant dinner conversation. I will definitely return. Good for two people, great for four. I have many food allergies and the chef and waiter were able to accommodate me and alert me to possible allergens. My guests loved the experience as well.

Ambar serves a unique, high quality Serbian/Balkan menu, tappas-style which is a wonderful experience every time, particularly if you enjoy sampling food from a new world region. The wait staff are very friendly and provide terrific service. The atmosphere is festive and terrific for celebrations with friends and family. An interesting an array of wine, beer, liquor, and mixed drinks from around the world are fun to sample. All the way around a terrific experience!

Recommended by our server, the sour cabbage was probably the most memorable with the right amount of fat to tartness from the cabbage. The wine, I had the Bulgarian Gamze was fantastic. Exactly what our server had said it would be, full-bodied and it did not disappoint.

Unique & delicious food
Very accommodating service
That neon sign on the back wall that reads ‘slow food’ is NOT turned on, for good reason. Although the ingredients qualify as slow food quality, the dishes come fast.
If I find myself in DC again, I’ll definitely return to Ambar. [Went to Zaytinya the following night, which wasn’t as enjoyable as Ambar.]

Ambar is my favorite place to eat. I have been there many time for dinner but this was the first time I had been to Ambar for lunch. We did the Balkan Experience for $19 which you can share and it was delicious. The staff is excellent and give excellent recommendations. I plan to go back there many more times. It's such a fun and interesting restaurant.

I had never tried Balkan food and was eager to do so. I loved everything about the experience. The friendly staff, the cozy ambiance, and most definitely the food. It was all excellent and we could only debate about the degree of fantastic. Not a dud among the substantial number of plates we tried. Oh, the cabbage...the lamb. Go! It was wonderful

The Balkan experience (unlimited small plates and drinks) for $49 was an incredible deal. The food was flavorful and plentiful, so different, yet elevated versions of what you would see on so many foodie-adored menus. Marco, our waitstaff, was incredible...quick, informative, pleasant. I would literally plan another trip to DC JUST to go to this restaurant.

Unlimited brunch drinks and small plates. We always leave full and happy without breaking the bank. Give this place a try. You will be glad you did!

This is my second time coming here for the Balkan Experience and I feel it is well worth the money. The food is absolutely amazing and the wait staff is excellent at explaining each dish. The mojitos are by far some of the best I’ve ever had. This trip we came to celebrate my husband’s birthday and the staff gave him a special dessert making the night all the more memorable. I will definitely continue to come here for more special occasions.

Outstanding food and value with plenty of options to suit everyone's palate. The $49 bottomless menu and select cocktails is too good to be true. I can't wait to go back and share the experience with friends. Staff is friendly and efficient. Moldovan wines are excellent and it was a treat to find them here.

A very Good Brunch -

went here with group of 4 friends. What was great is that one friend has a food allergy and the other dairy and gluten free. Ambar has an allergy menu that they can then modify depending on the allergy. Plenty of food through the brunch balkan experience. Only small issue - wished would have filled our drinks faster. But the food is by far the best brunch food (especially for a bottomless place) I have had.

Ambar's small plates, Balkan-oriented food is always interesting and varied, and the service is consistently friendly and professional. It's a very good value at any time but for weekend "all you want to eat and drink" brunch it must be one of the very best deals in the Washington area. My wife and I will return again and again...

My husband and I ate at the bar and had the Balkan Experience for Saturday brunch. We had great service and suggestions from our server/bartender (who actually is from Serbia). Very generous with the re-fills on the delicious peach and berry mimosas, and all you want to eat of the great little small plates to share. Everything was delicious, but especially the roasted mushroom crepes, the cheese pie, and pork slider. We tried the spreads, charcuterie platter salad, pear waffle, and homemade sourdough donuts with jam. It was ALL great.
