Favorite restaurant in DC!
Brunch was so much fun! Great service, always food and drink on the table for the 2 hrs
It was delicious and the ambiance was fun. Looking forward to finding an occasion to go back
Charming old building...great tasting tapas dishes brought to our table as they kitchen had them ready. Only complaint was on the last chicken skewer dishes brought out. Some of the chicken wasn’t cooked through. The waiter had the kitchen check a couple of the pieces on our plate, and it was confirmed as not fully cooked. My kids had already eaten some of the chicken, so I was worried.
The unlimited menu for $35 each was a bargain. We bought our drinks a la carte but some were at happy hour prices because of the food package! The food was amazing. The portions were just right for 2 to share. They would have been too small to split more ways. Great, friendly, informative and attentive service.
A different and terrific experience. The menu is intriguing to read and the food produced is exceptional and unexpected. The various ways to combine meal items offer a unique experience for everyone. The service is both professional and engaging. The drinks start the meal off well--they are at the same time familiar but surprising. I am not a desert person but the deserts are a must.
The all you can eat lunch special is a fantastic deal!
Always a great Balkan experience, we sat outside on a fantastic Monday evening, we always enjoy the variety, the staff are lovely!
The food here was absolutely incredible! I’d recommend the all you can eat. It’s really good value for such high quality food
the food was ok, not great, just meh... ok. Especially when you lik at the price if things such as A single slider that wasn't even that tasty for $7. Most places give slider(s), as in 3 of them for this much.
We didnt drink, but if we did it would have helped with the price a bit, as their special I believe was $49 bottomless food and drink.
Awesome place to have dinner the $35 unlimited deal is amazing without being trashy and having the “all you can eat feel” the food is out of this world good and the service is impeccable it’s a regular spot for me
The all-you-can-eat/drink for $49 is a fantastic deal. We loved the brussels sprouts so much we got a second & then a third portion. Everything was delicious!
Food was easily 10/10 🙂. Excellent Serbian cuisine. Friendly servers as well. Only two complaints:
-Restaurant was a bit dark
-Bathroom was too small
Food is quite salty; service is slow though named ‘express lunch’; overall did not meet expectations.
Waitress was wonderful, bathroom cleanliness not up to par though. However, the food was amazing and would definitely go again!
100% recommend to visit, food top quality, great variety, excellent service, fun atmosphere, very clean, great memories made ,
Overall worth at least a visit. We did the "Balkan Experience" which is unlimited food and drink from a specific small-plate menu for about $60 a person, which is a very good deal. Service was top notch, and the waitress took time to explain each dish. Food was overall OK. I found the flavors to seem mild, perhaps a few of the dishes were dry? Mushroom crepes and Kajmak were tasty and balanced. Lamb Medallions and braised steak seemed to be one note, though not bad.
Overall at least worth a try, it is especially great for date nights.
The bathrooms leave a lot to be desired, but the food is great. I sat underneath a dripping air conditioning vent.
Had an amazing anniversary!
Good food, a variety of fun flavors. I visited both the Capitol Hill and the Arlington locations of Ambar. Arlington has more space and friendlier service. In Capitol Hill, even in the smaller space, it was really hard to get the server's attention and when you did, you got the feeling that there was somewhere else he would rather be.
Favorite place in D.C. Have celebrated many things with the Ambar team and will continue to support. (please open the rooftop soon!)
Lovely food and excellent service. Rufia ( I hope I am writing her name correctly ) took wonderful care of us and our two children. We will definitely be back
Everything was great!
Always amazing food, service, and value. Ambar is where I take visitors to show off the DC food scene and it never disappoints!
Fantastic food and exceptional service for as busy as it was on a Friday night.
All you can eat Balkan cuisine. Excellent tapas size dishes
Start to finish we had a wonderful experience. Food as usual was marvelous. Service was attentive. I had almond crusted chicken and cabbage consuello. My companion had mussels. We will be back.
Wow! This was a truly mágica culinary experience. We loved each of the plates we ordered, and the service was great. Ámbar is not to be missed among tue great DC food scene. We will definitely be back!
An experience our family will never forget.
The food is outstanding. Ambar is not just a restaurant, it's an experience.
It was absolutely amazing. The service was excellent and so was the food. $49 all you can eat and drink is the way to go.
Came here for dinner on my own during a recent business trip to DC. I had a reservation and was seated promptly upstairs, preferring a table to sitting at the very nice bar. My server, Nina, greeted me very warmly and provided me with some recommendations from the menu. Since it was just me, I chose to order a la carte instead of the all you care to enjoy option. I very much enjoyed the Ambar Fries (Nina's excellent recommendation), the leek croquettes, the spicy pork sausage, and the lamb medallions. All of it, yes, all of it was delicious! The fries were large, crispy on the outside yet hot and flaky on the inside, and perfectly seasoned. They came served on an aged cheese spread that was fabulous! The croquettes were deep fried goodness with oodles of onion-y filling within. The spicy pork sausage came sliced in a flavorful stew with diced carrots and green peas. And the lamb medallions were very juicy, lightly drizzled with a pomegranate sauce, and served with a sour cream sauce for dipping. It was all wonderful! I perused the dessert menu, but chose to skip it as I was happily fed and very content. However, Nina felt that I needed a little something, so she gave me a two piece order of deep fried sourdough covered in Nutella with a thinly sliced strawberry accompaniment. It was delicious and a very thoughtful and kind gesture. I was so pleased with my meal and overall experience that I messaged a colleague to come here for dinner the next evening. I really hope that she did. Thank you Ambar and thank you Nina!
There are other restaurants in DC that have the same $40 all you can eat/drink special but Ambar’s food and service surpasses all of them. Nicely done!
Bottomless brunch is delicious!!! Highly recommend it!
Brunch was what I was expecting. The food was decent for a bottomless brunch, but nothing amazing. The service was good, and overall a fun, relaxed atmosphere; so we had a good time.
Easily one of the best dining experiences we have had in DC!
Great food, great environment. A little expensive for what it is but if you do the unlimited it is well worth it. We had a great time! I especially LOVED the Brussels sprouts! They were amazing!
Great food and service
Really enjoyed this dining experience. Definitely better to go with more than one other person, I've found 4 to be the best group size because you can all taste each plate and get to try the most things. Great service!
Visiting dc with the family and wanted to try something near the Capitol. The tapa style food presentation was great for us as we are all adults and shared everything. We got there and were able to have happy hour drinks which helped with her bill. Great food, drinks, service. It seems noise level is always a problem no matter where we go in the city.
