Venture into the relaxed ambiance of Amazonia, our inviting upstairs bar, dining room and rooftop hideaway. As one of the first Amazonian restaurants in the U.S., discover the exotic flavors and ingredients from Peru's rainforest, as well as favorite Peruvian staples. Here you can explore a thoughtfully curated selection of pisco and imaginative cocktails. The dishes you'll enjoy in Amazonia are meant for sharing, and are expertly prepared by the very same Michelin awarded kitchen team from Causa downstairs.

We offer our Sour Hour happy hour at are bar and bar tables Monday thru Friday from open till 7 pm. Bar seating is available first come, first served. Reservations are not available for Sour Hour.

Amazonia was amazing in every way. The food was fresh and imaginative. I’ve never had octopus as tasty and originally prepared. The service was first rate: knowledgeable without being pushy, flexible and accommodating! An experience not to be missed!

Awesome event & loved the menu. The slow-roasted short rib is the best food award. The purple non-alcoholic drink was awesome. Next year I recommend adding Causa Chef meeting first so the diner will not have gorged on Amazonia's food previously.

We went to the party celebrating Peruvian Independence Day at Amazonia and Causa. We had a great time. The food was plentiful and delicious. It is very authentic Peruvian, and I can make that call because I live mostly in Miami and have been to Peru. The service was enthusiastic and amazing. We got our faces painted! Based on this experience, we are going to Causa for an omicase dinner in August for sure!

Excellent food and cocktails! My favorite dishes were the scallops and the chaufa putamayo.

Truly exceptional meal and service, both in the cocktail area beforehand and at the table. You can't really go wrong with the menu, but our Lomo Saltado, Cebiche, grilled salmon skewers, and Pisco Sours were excellent. The only drawback in the summer is that it's pretty humid outside in DC in the summer, so the outside bar and tables are less pleasant than the ones inside. But if you can snag a table in the cocktail area, you'll be set.

Food was just ok, I wouldn’t consider it a one Michelin Star restaurant. Waiter was strange, completely refusing to make even the smallest alterations to the food, such as putting the chorizo on the side instead of mixing it up in the fried rice, so that I (pescatarian) can also share the dish with my husband, who doesn’t mind the chorizo. We also wanted to order a 13oz fish (listed as $95 on the menu) served as a hot dish, and the strange waiter steered us away from grilling a small size fish because he said after you grill the fish it will become smaller. First of all we own a binchotan grill at home and we grill whole fish all the time, we know what we are doing and we know what we are ordering. Secondly what was even more weird was instead of recommending a different fish to grill he completely steered us away from ordering a grilled fish all together. So we ended up not order a fish item. What kind of restaurant not want to make $$$ in an expensive high marked-up and perishable item? Don’t know who they think they are, it’s just a one Michelin Star restaurant in Washington DC. Ironically I was just in Central Lima and MIL Cusco two weeks ago, and they accommodated all my dietary restrictions. And was in Mirazur in Menton in May; Alchemist and Geranium in 2024. I’ve never experienced world’s best restaurants not accommodating my preference, and here we are a not well known restaurant in DC acting like it’s World’s Best. Whatever I spend my money elsewhere. It wasn’t a busy night, we’ll see how much longer this restaurant stays open, when about 40% of restaurants in DC cannot stay afloat and have been closing.

Very nice place. The food was a bit too spicy for me, but otherwise it a fun place. It was a bit too noisy and hard to hear people.

Love the ambiance but I was a little frustrated when I tried calling several times to add an additional person to my reservation. They said they couldn’t make it happen and when I got there there were two empty tables that could’ve been modified to fit an extra guest to our table.
