After eating here for the first time I came back two days later to try the flatbread pizza and it was wonderful, everything was good on the menu. The kids meals are so much that I ordered only one chicken quesadilla and my 2yr old twins split it with food left over. I’m definitely returning.
Food was delicious and the breakfast buffet had a good variety of items. I LOVE coffee but theirs was so strong it was undrinkable, at least to my taste. Servers were friendly but slow to refill beverages and when paying the check it seemed to take forever. Not sure why it took so long to process payments but it took WAY too long. We enjoyed the visits from Gru and Kevin.
Francheska was excellent! She was extremely personable and we loved her recommendations.
Excellent service, good food
Very few people there at what i would consider a usually busy time. Food was bland and mediocre. Atmosphere, while intended to be Caribbean, was nondescript. Price for a meager meal was overblown for what you received.
My mother and I dined here during our vacation to universal. We stayed at another hotel but wanted to try this place after seeing the menu online. The wings were excellent. The jerk chicken pot pie was incredible as well. Very beautiful place and good service. The only downside was a large group behind us with two screaming kids. Probably around age 3-5. Their parents barely tried to quiet them and my head was pounding from a headache earlier. Not the restaurants fault obviously but it was a little annoying.
Food was very fresh and service was amazing!
We had a reservation for 10am breakfast. We were seated promptly on the patio but then waited 10 minutes for our server to come and bring coffee. Even though we had asked for cream it took another 10 minutes to get that and water. Our water was never refilled. We ordered Eggs Benedict and an Omelet @ 10: 15am which arrived @ 10:45am. The Eggs Benedict was served with hardboiled, not poached eggs. The omelet was overcooked until it was brown on the outside and both dishes were luke warm and had sat under a heat lamp for a long, long, long time. When this was brought to the attention of the restaurant manager he did not understand what the issue was! He had no concept that Eggs Benedict are supposed to be served with poached eggs. We had to call the chef out and explain to him why the breakfast was inedible. It was a disappointing end to a lackluster experience at the Loews Sapphire Falls Resort.
We were surpised by this hotel restaurant. Had cool mix of flavors and plates. The rice & beans were a little dry but the platanos were delicious.
Chef made sure that we were set with Gluten free options.
Conch Chowder was great.
Our favorite breakfast buffet in Orlando! The atmosphere is a perfect, relaxed, upscale, island feel. . .you feel like you can sit and eat breakfast, talk, and drink your coffee without a care in the world for as long as you like! We usually don't choose buffets but this one is the exception! The buffet includes lox, yogurt, many different kinds of fruit and berries, scrambled eggs, bagels, bacon, sausage, home fries, pancakes, waffles, biscuits, gravy, grits, warm pastries, and a separate table of danish, croissant, donuts, breads, etc as well as an omelette stations and cereal, juice, coffee, milk. We always feel relaxed and happy while eating here as the food, atmosphere and staff are wonderful and we leave feeling relaxed and full! I Definitely recommend Amatista on your next visit to Orlando!
Have to say that overall the food at Sapphire Falls wasn’t anything to write home about. Service was great throughout but food not all that .
If you are staying at the hotel, this place is a fine option for a meal. The restaurant looks lovely and the staff was very friendly. However, the food is comparable to what you'd find at The Cheesecake Factory - our dinner portions were huge and our paella was way over-salted. On the plus side, they were very accommodating about splitting dishes. We did not return since there are other options in the hotel and surrounding area.
Went for Easter brunch made reservation for 4:30. I got there at 4:25 food look great but the meat was cold and had to eat in a rush since I didn't realized brunch is over at 5pm.
Excellent restaurant. Fairly priced, quick service and great food.
Adam our server was great. The food was very tasty
This is my new favorite restaurant at Universal Orlando Hollywood. Nice wine list. The most unique pot pie I’ve ever tasted and best salad I’ve had in awhile.
Great food. Great service. I would recommend this restaurant to visitors and locals.
Sasa was great!
food was blah. we ate there because we had long drive was late and was restaurant at hotel
Had very good food, particularly the appetizers. Ambiance was OK.
We had a table of 7 for breakfast. It took 15 minutes to get menus and 15 minutes for someone to take our drink order. The buffet seems to be a strong point for them if you order off the menu expect to wait a long time for your food and expect it to be cold. The waitress was nice but had too many tables to wait on. Overall it took 3 hours for breakfast and it was just totally unacceptable.
Our server Adam was awesome! He made our dinner a wonderful experience. The food was very good.
Relaxing and friendly atmosphere at Amatista Cookhouse. A varied menu with high quality food offered delicious food. Service was very good but the food took a long time to arrive. We ordered off the menu but I’d guess most folks were getting the breakfast buffet.
Service is simply fabulous and couldn’t be better. The food was good, it is a pretty old room. The jalapeño margarita is outstanding.
The food took a little long and one of my plates came cold
Felt it was too pricey, the service was just ok, and I was surprised that the French fries were the worst I ever had.
Everything at Amatista is wonderful: the food, the waitstaff, the chefs, the atmosphere--everything. We loved it and will certainly go back!
Amatista is a beautiful restaurant. The theme of the food is Jamaican, but the décor is more Sapphire Falls (it is located in the Sapphire Falls Hotel). The menu looks great with lots of wonderful choices. But first impressions can be misleading. The service was fair. The design of the room makes it loud (lots of hard surfaces). But the worst thing was the food. I'm not a fan of really spicy food, but this food was totally bland. Who makes empanadas and curries with no flavor? The paella the second-worst I've ever had. To top it all off, being a hotel restaurant it was also very expensive. Skip this one.
Beautiful restaurant but the food is mediocre. Too bad the food didn't match the decor.
Had New Year’s Eve buffet very expensive with not too many choices to eat. Then a service charge of nearly $34 US added for what. We got up and got our own meals and the waiter forgot the cocktail I ordered and had to come back and ask and then we only had two sodas.
This was the second time my family and I have eaten at the Amatista Cookhouse. The first time was for Thanksgiving dinner in November of 2016 and it was delicious which was why we expected a great arrangement for New Years Eve 2017. We were, unfortunately, very disappointed with the food. There was very little variety and the price point for the buffet, based on what was offered, was way too high. Each person in our party ate very little because the offerings were so limited and frankly what was offered was not great either and then to conclude the night, we paid over $300 for barely one plate per person of subpar food. There was a better selection for desserts than there was food which is disappointing. We will definitely have to think twice about eating at this restaurant again for a special occasion. Hotel is amazing tho! Don’t know what went wrong...
The food was decent, but our server got our order wrong and seemed visibly frazzled in between tables. When we first walked down from the lobby, we were told it would be an hour wait without a reservation, and were able to look at OpenTable and see that we could book a reservation within 10 minutes of checking their site. When we sat down, there were several open tables around us that remained open during our dinner, even with multiple parties waiting in the lounge area. Overall, it was not the intimate dining experience we were looking for to kick off our vacation and did not live up to the hype.
This restaurant was very disappointing. Sapphire Falls is a beautiful Universal Studios on-site hotel and the walk down to Amatista was very nice. However, that’s where it stops. First the hostess could not locate our OpenTable reservation. I had to show her the email confirmation so she can see that we do have a reservation. Food quality was on par with cafeteria food. Do not get the jerk chicken pot pie and the fajita flatbread; both were unappetizing and came out lukewarm. Also, three of our entrees came out together while the last one showed up 5-10 minutes later. I have to sit and watched my family eating their dinner while waiting for that last entree to show up.
We had a table of 5 and our dinner order got lost in the shuffle and had an hour time in between ordering and receiving our meals. Two of our meals were undercooked. Our waiter made it right by reducing the total bill and comping two desert items.
This was an awful experience. We waited over an hour to get our entrees, and none of the steaks were cooked right or given to the correct people. No flavor! It was a good cut of meat, but no flavor! When you order filet with beranaise and they bring you A1 just in case not a good sign. We all got surf and turf, and it came with shrimp....again not seasoning...no flavor. For the price this food should be perfection. My 4 year old nephew wouldnt even eat the kids mac and cheese.....no flavor! The wait staff was very attentive and nice and did discount our bill. We were just very disappointed.
We were staying at Loews Sapphire Falls resort for Christmas. Amatista put on a wonderful buffet-style dinner with so many options. Our kids loved it and so did my wife and I. Great service from the moment we walked in the door.
Christmas buffet was highly overpriced. Very low value for family of 5. The turkey was delicious but that’s all that stood out. They offered lobster but no one in our party wanted cold lobster. Definitely not worth $350. That was the basic price- no alcoholic beverages, no extra anything. It was very disappointing because we were forced to use buffet as there were no other meal options offered. When I booked this on OpenTable, it was not clear that we would have no other options. I thought we were getting traditional Christmas dinner, but the food ( mostly side dishes) was not up to par for my family. As a result, one of my college aged kids ended up eating chicken fingers off the kiddie menu selection but paid the full price. We walked away shaking our heads saying that was just not worth it.
Some awesome waiters (Miguel in particular but also Arturo and others). Food was very good especially the Paella and the Christmas Buffet.
