The food took a little long and one of my plates came cold
Everything at Amatista is wonderful: the food, the waitstaff, the chefs, the atmosphere--everything. We loved it and will certainly go back!
Amatista is a beautiful restaurant. The theme of the food is Jamaican, but the décor is more Sapphire Falls (it is located in the Sapphire Falls Hotel). The menu looks great with lots of wonderful choices. But first impressions can be misleading. The service was fair. The design of the room makes it loud (lots of hard surfaces). But the worst thing was the food. I'm not a fan of really spicy food, but this food was totally bland. Who makes empanadas and curries with no flavor? The paella the second-worst I've every had. To top it all off, being a hotel restaurant it was also very expensive. Skip this one.
Beautiful restaurant but the food is mediocre. Too bad the food didn't match the decor.
Had New Year’s Eve buffet very expensive with not too many choices to eat. Then a service charge of nearly $34 US added for what. We got up and got our own meals and the waiter forgot the cocktail I ordered and had to come back and ask and then we only had two sodas.
This was the second time my family and I have eaten at the Amatista Cookhouse. The first time was for Thanksgiving dinner in November of 2016 and it was delicious which was why we expected a great arrangement for New Years Eve 2017. We were, unfortunately, very disappointed with the food. There was very little variety and the price point for the buffet, based on what was offered, was way too high. Each person in our party ate very little because the offerings were so limited and frankly what was offered was not great either and then to conclude the night, we paid over $300 for barely one plate per person of subpar food. There was a better selection for desserts than there was food which is disappointing. We will definitely have to think twice about eating at this restaurant again for a special occasion. Hotel is amazing tho! Don’t know what went wrong...
The food was decent, but our server got our order wrong and seemed visibly frazzled in between tables. When we first walked down from the lobby, we were told it would be an hour wait without a reservation, and were able to look at OpenTable and see that we could book a reservation within 10 minutes of checking their site. When we sat down, there were several open tables around us that remained open during our dinner, even with multiple parties waiting in the lounge area. Overall, it was not the intimate dining experience we were looking for to kick off our vacation and did not live up to the hype.
This restaurant was very disappointing. Sapphire Falls is a beautiful Universal Studios on-site hotel and the walk down to Amatista was very nice. However, that’s where it stops. First the hostess could not locate our OpenTable reservation. I had to show her the email confirmation so she can see that we do have a reservation. Food quality was on par with cafeteria food. Do not get the jerk chicken pot pie and the fajita flatbread; both were unappetizing and came out lukewarm. Also, three of our entrees came out together while the last one showed up 5-10 minutes later. I have to sit and watched my family eating their dinner while waiting for that last entree to show up.
We had a table of 5 and our dinner order got lost in the shuffle and had an hour time in between ordering and receiving our meals. Two of our meals were undercooked. Our waiter made it right by reducing the total bill and comping two desert items.
This was an awful experience. We waited over an hour to get our entrees, and none of the steaks were cooked right or given to the correct people. No flavor! It was a good cut of meat, but no flavor! When you order filet with beranaise and they bring you A1 just in case not a good sign. We all got surf and turf, and it came with shrimp....again not seasoning...no flavor. For the price this food should be perfection. My 4 year old nephew wouldnt even eat the kids mac and cheese.....no flavor! The wait staff was very attentive and nice and did discount our bill. We were just very disappointed.
