Awesome food. Attentive service. Great mix of veggie, seafood, and meat options. Fun space on north ave, even just for a cocktail (they were awesome).
The food was sooo good! I had the skirt steak while my friend had the chicken skewers. The steak was full of flavor & perfectly cooked (medium) & the chicken was soo tender! They have 2 salsas, habanero and a green one which taste so freshly made. The yuca fries perfectly cooked through AND was a compliment from the chef, thanks! Omg I would so come back. I cant wait to try the salmon w/lentils next time !
Have yet to be disappointed by Amaru. Consistent quality every time I’ve had the opportunity to dine here. Wait staff being fantastic is the cherry on top.
Really enjoyed our dinner here. Great food & service.
Excellent food and even better service! Would recommend!
Josh was an excellent server! The empanada was our favorite. We’ll be back!
I would definitely go back!!! Great food and a fun place
Our experience was very positive, We enjoyed most of our dishes and the staff was wonderful. The decor was unique and beautiful. Definitely a place you must try if you enjoy trying new flavors.
Had a wonderful experience at Amaru! Food was amazing and service was great. Highly recommend!
Great food. Great service. One of my new favorite places to dine.
This was my 3rd visit to Amaru and I am never disappointed. The food is delicious!!! The small shared plates allows you to try different dishes. Every dish is unique and the very tasty! I highly recommend this restaurant and I will be back.
Arguably the best meal in Chicago
Our small party arrived quite a bit early in advance of a 7:30 reservation, but we were greeted, seated, and served promptly. The staff were spot on with recommendations, everything was delicious. Exceeded expectations. I only wish they had a slightly more extensive draft beer list.
Service was great, good was delicious.
Fantastic food - braised beef & polenta to die for, awesome specialty drinks and our waitress was really great too! Ni doubt will be going back!!!
The food was amazing and the service was even better! We were given several drink recommendations right off the bat which were all very unique and crafty. Our waiter was so nice, he explained every dish and really catered to our favorites. The chickpea/lentil cakes and bacon wrapped plantain and chorizo dishes were so unique and packed with flavor. Couldn’t speak more highly of this restaurant. Everything was great from when we arrived to leaving. Highly recommend to anyone willing to try something fun and different from your everyday cuisine.
Great food and drinks, server was helpful
Absolutely Love this place! Amazing service and phenomenal food. Unique and flavorful Latin Fusion dishes, with ingredients you’re probably not familiar with but will absolutely enjoy. Price is very reasonable for the quality of food you get. Chef brings out many dishes himself to tables very cozy yet modern feel.
Amazing food and service. Atmosphere great, too!
Everything about the meal was great. I've also learned about the Happy Hour menu - my 5 y.o. son and I crushed a wide range of options - plantains, Yuca Frites, ceviche, pulpo, chicken skewers, dessert, I had 2 drinks and we were out for under $50.
I've already made my reservation to come back with the full family.
Food was phenomenal. Can’t wait to come back and try new things
Outstanding meal! And great service, all you can ask for in a restaurant!
A great energy and great food. We loved everything we ordered
We had an amazing experience at Amaru. The people working there were exceptionally nice and the food exceeded our expectations. We will definitely return.
We were celebrating friends’ engagement. Meal was great as was the service. Manager brought a champagne toast at the end of the meal. Superb.
The octopus was amazing, and all of the sauces paired very well with its dish.
Restaurant week menu is superb. Will go back to try other menus😍
Would definitely go again! Great food and experience!
Wonderful food - a small menu but the food was excellent; very creative menu and very well executed. The service was great, very personable and our server really cared that we enjoyed the food and had a great experience. The chef cam and explained each of the dishes. All around a great restaurant; we will definitely be back.
Great food. Staff was great and attentive. A noisy place, but the dining area is very accommodative to those looking for a little less noisy corner or nook. Drinks were tasty! Great stop in Wicker Park. Go!
We really enjoyed this restaurant. Imaginative options on the menu, outstanding flavors Excellent service. Waiter was very friendly and helpful.
We were there during restaurant week, although we elected to select from the regular menu.
My only criticism is the music. They offered a wide variety of background music. I think it would have been better if they had focused more on the Latin theme, and not played any of the louder rap selections. Latin Fusion food and rap doesn't seem to mix.
Amazing service and food
We came here for restaurant week and LOVED the menu! Each course was a pleasant surprise. Can’t wait to come back and try more things on the menu. The bacon wrapped plantains, pulpos (octopus), oxtail ravioli, guava cheesecake were all must-try items!
A total gem of a restaurant in Bucktown, which I found "accidentally", on the Chicago Restaurant Week list and I'm so glad I did! My family had dinner there this past weekend and we all loved our experience and the contemporary presentation of Latin America by chef Rodolfo Cuadros (who is not only very talented, but also super down to earth and fun to talk to). We tried their special Chicago Restaurant Week menu and also several items from their regular menu and we loved every single dish (even coffee, which can be a let down at some places after a great meal, was very good). Do try the lamb empanadas (currently a special, but I hope they put it on their regular menu), the piononos (bacon wrapped plantains), pollo al carbon (the chicken dish) and pastel de elote (corn cake)... which is amazing, best desert I had in a long time! Oh, and most definitely the Holy Water cocktail... not just delish, but you will also enjoy the mini show (you'll understand what I mean when you order it). In addition to great food, the service by everybody on the team was outstanding, friendly and attentive (a special shout out to our great server, Josh). I'm already looking forward to going back and perhaps trying their brunch menu as well.
From the vibe to the food, you can’t miss here. Will be back.
Yummy yummy food. Amazing service and the chef is so talented and creative and Is very interactive. The best.
Highly recommend, food and service were perfect. Very knowledgeable about drinks and food. Feels homey in a trendy spot
The food, the drinks, the service...it was wonderful. It was my 2nd time here and it didn't disappoint either time. The first time was Christmas Eve and the staff was fabulous in accommodating our large group. THe servers are super knowledgable about the menu and barstaff is awesome. The other night we took our servers recommendation of the ceviche app and we just about licked the plate. We were able to share everything. We ordered the skirt steak and pork shoulder dishes and split both. We were in heaven. The Holy Water drink is indeed a religious experience and the sangria was awesome. HIGHLY recommend Amaru!
Great food, poor service. Our server would go missing for long periods of time. Ceviche and pernil were the highlights
