FIRST TIME HERE AND PLEASANTLY SUPRISED. SERVICE AND FOOD WAS VERY GOOD.
Been to Amorone at least 4 times. Always very satisfied. First time on a Saturday evening and during 9th Ave Festival. Place was packed and very noisey obviously on the street but waiters and staff were calm and courteous and food excellent. I was pleased to bring friend to celebrate a special anniversary for him,
Charming, food is wonderful, service attentive. Very good value
Francesco from Avellino is an outstanding waiter. Food is authentic italian . Come in Italia!! Except for wine prices!! :O
Food was great as was service but tables too close together
Personale molto accogliente e disponibile! Buona cucina italiana!
Have dined here many times. Still love it.
Delicious hearty dishes. Wait staff is accommodating and friendly. We have been here more than once and are always satisfied.
When we lived in this neighborhood, we dined here often, but having moved far uptown, we were not in the 'hood for quite some time. Tonight we came back and OMG so good; better than we recalled. The grilled calamari is amazing and the veal chop special was beyond. The pasta puttanesca was perfect for my husband, and we shared a Lovely tiramisu afterwards. Service was perfect. Go here and and be happy. NOTE: we were going to a 7:00 show and were quite early (4:30) for our 5:00 reservation (which was no problem - it was nearly empty.) When we left at 6:15 the place was packed! so: RESERVE!
The cherry on the top of Our day in NYC was our Dinner at Anarone! The food was outstanding and only topped by the hospitality and ambience!
My wife and I went for our anniversary. The food was excellent. Atmosphere perfect. Really the staff makes the location stand out. Polite, professional, and a pleasure. Real gem of a local restaurant.
Francesco was the best service we could’ve asked for! Request him because he made our night!
Amarone is a great go-to on 9th Avenue. The food is always very good and the wine list is excellent. It has a very comfortable and welcoming atmosphere.
I have been going there for 21 years and i have always been treated very well. They have friendly good service and excellent food. Highly recomended.
A great Italian restaurant if you are a tourist looking to overpay for bland tasting food. We sat in the smaller of the two rooms at a 2-top affording us plenty of space, untypical for a NY City restaurant. The noise level was low and permitted conversation. The service was friendly and efficient but not totally knowledgeable. What type of Chardonnay...i don't know. Enough of the positives! To me the bread foreshadows what is to come, in this case cold, sliced bread with a soft chewy crust. Very disappointed. We began with the smallest arrugula/pear salad I have ever seen, the dressing was light and lacked any descernable flavor. My wife had the special raviolis which she rated a solid B, tasted good but not great. My spinach pasta with Bolognese sauce was a big disappointed, the pasta was fresh a d cooked properly but the sauce tasted bland, like chunky ketchup. With that said we would NOT return to pay almost $100 for 2. (including tip). There are too many other/good options on 9th avenue!
A real find in NYC. Good food and really convenient to theater.
Outstanding food and service. Everyone there is friendly and we had an amazing time. We celebrated my birthday there and the staff was so incredibly kind. A truly great place.
Pre-theater dinner. Extraordinarily meh. Salad ok but not enough vinegar in dressing. Chicken scarpiella had no peppers, minimal flavor, and was dry. Seafood with squid ink pasta pretty flavorless. Wine and drinks fine. Lame beer selection. Not poison but not going back either.
Very crowded tight seating. Food was just Ok. Waiter was trying but forgot drinks. Charged for half a serving of pasta to substitute for mashed potatoes. Pasta was cold. Biggest problem- double billed for coffee and dessert. Complimentary drink as we were leaving didn't help.
This has been our fourth time enjoying this restaurant, twice with different sets of friends. We have not been disappointed. They have such an assortment of meals and each are made of great quality. This Saturday I had the Fusilli “Norcia”, our friend had the Linguine Alla Vongole which she loved and my wife had the Bucatini All’Amatriciana which is her favorite and has had it multiple times. Plus they have the advantage of a small outside seating area which if you are lucky enough to get is a great way to people watch the folks in NYC. You will not be disappointed when you come here. Staff here is amazing too. They all work so fast to make sure your meal is great and you are enjoying yourself. Please make sure you make this restaurant one of the places you stop when in NYC.
Such a good meal! I had the Caesar salad which was fresh and delicious and gnocchi which was outstanding and the perfect amount!! Also highly recommend the chocolate cake with hazelnut gelato which was amazing and homemade! Service was excellent and so nice! Perfect place for a meal for the whole family!!
Wonderful food, ambiance and service. The servers were friendly and accommodating.
My hotel recommended Amarone as a nice local trattoria and they were right. Menu options were excellent. I had a top quality pasta dish and a delicious dessert. Wines by the glass were reasonable if unexciting. Service by Jose was excellent - personable and helpful. Nice atmosphere, cozy but comfortable. I enjoyed it so much I went back the next night and had something different. The pasta with leeks, prosciutto and smoked mozzarella was terrific! Would love to eat there again on another trip to NY. Definitely recommend!
If only I had seen the dessert menu at the beginning of my visit! I would have ordered differently so there was still room for dessert.
The different (lower) prices on the to-go/delivery menu offered on the sidewalk creates confusion.
Loved our waiter and the food was delicious!
We got there a little early for our reservation so we sat at bar for a drink and enjoyed conversation with very pleasant bartender. Food was excellent, they seated us when we wanted. Waiter was very nice and attentive. Absolutely will recommend to friends who will be visiting the city.
Lovely quiet spot for Saturday pre-theater lunch. Would go there again.
The food was wonderful, the service attentive, and the location very convenient.
Could be better. Seating is very tight when crowded. Had a Caesar salad with anchovies. Not bad needed more salad dressing. Spouse had the salad with pears and there was hardly any dressing on it. We both had a special with fettuccine with squid ink, mussels, clams, shrimp, and calamari. Too much calamari, weak on shrimp, mussels were good but only about 4, and mini clams that were flavorless. Finished with the tiramisu which was very good. With so many Italian restaurants to chose from we won’t be back.
First, after we declined to purchase a $120 bottle of wine they were pushing the service declined. Then they were very rude in asking us to leave only 90 minutes after our reservation time and while we all had half glasses of wine left to drink.
The food was amazing. Cooked to perfection
Honest Italian cooking in a bustling atmosphere. All dishes were enjoyed by the four at our table. Service was top notch throughout.
Great food and superb service, wine and good friends, what can I ask for more?
Delicious food - awesome service!!!! Will definitely be back!
Service and food very good
We ate here at the request of my Italian boyfriend. Since he lives in Italy I really didn't want to eat at an Italian restaurant in the U.S. but I'm glad we did. It was outstanding and authentic (disclaimer: I am not Italian). However it was better than any meal I had in the 3 months I spent in Italy recently.
First was the smell. The woman next to us just received her dish when we arrived. It was a tomato-based pasta dish (bucatini). The smell was amazing. She loved it. It says something that she is from Italy, living in London, and missing authentic Italian food. Our grilled calamari appetizer was fresh, tender, and tasty. My boyfriend's dish of linguine with vongole (clams) was topped with the perfect amount of fresh parsley. It was delicious. My dish of seafood - red snapper fillet in a tomato broth with buttery scallops, shrimp, clams, and mussels - was divine. The best of fresh seafood and broth/sauce that complemented but did not overwhelm. Cheers to the chef.
Also, in world full of disappointing tiramisu, this tiramisu did not disappoint.
Our service was outstanding. Our waiter from Italy never missed a beat. He was kind, funny and helpful.
I highly recommend Amarone and I would return!
We have dined at Amarone at least 6 times, it is one of our favorites when visiting New York City. Having grown up in the New York city area, we have eaten at many Italian restaurants. This is still one of our favorites. The food is always good, the staff are great and highly recommend this restaurant.
This restaurant is wonderful! We ate here twice on our trip and loved it! The food is amazing and delicious and the service is wonderful! Would highly recommend it!
Ristorante adatto a chi cerca la VERA cucina italiana a New York! Cibo, servizio e atmosfera eccellenti.
Il tiramisù alla fine era uno spettacolo.
Visiting from Buffalo, NY we asked out hotel where to get great Italian food. Amarone did not disappoint! I did not see Alfredo on the menu, but that was not an issue they made it for me!! It was clearly homemade and delicious! We made reservations & arrived late which thankfully was not an issue. The seating was a little snug, but I am not too curvy so I was fine. Great price, portion, and great service. The waiter was professional, fast, and accomidating!
