Amarone Kitchen & Wine Ratings and Reviews
The restaurant is small but cozy. Staff are attentive and the owner is great. We started with the octopus appetizer, popilto scottato, that was tender, flavorful and beautifully presented. the Insalata di Pere e Gorgonzola was a tasty salad. The noodles in out entrees were made in house and authentic. Portions were the right size. I had the Strozzapreti ai Gamberi- a unique type of noodle that was enjoyed by both of us. Tagliatelle alla Bolognese was the other entree and equally great. The coffees were awesome.
We are very fond of Amarone and want to return there more often. Great food, attentive and extremely pleasant service, cozy atmosphere...Our kinda place. Unpretentious and yet superb.
It was my birthday and I wanted comfort food Italian style. The homemade rigatoni with veal ragu, the asparagus salad and the chocolate cake fit the bill perfectly.
Amarone is a very unassuming restaurant. The staff is warm and welcoming and the food is simple but very solid. Every course was fresh and prepared just right-it's not a foodie destination but it is a solid neighborhood restaurant that I think you could count on to satisfy time after time. It was a pleasure to dine there
The polipo (octopus) is to die for, oh-so-tender and so well accompanied by its citrus-y beans and greens. The burrata and prosciutto was also finger-licking good - not your supermarket prosciutto! It's dark and romantic upstairs, perfect to share glasses from their interesting wine list and whatever the pasta of the day is (we had prosciutto and lamb ragu). And, of course, exceptional service as usual from Sandro and his team. I can't wait to be back.
Food was quite expensive but was just okay. Nothing really to complain or rave about. Just mediocre. Service was very slow on an evening when the restaurant was not particularly busy. Took an hour from the time we ordered until our food arrived, during which time the waitress constistently attempted to push more wine. Seemed intentional. The quality of food and service was not in line with the price. I doubt we will go back.
My husband and I were in town for 3 nights and we ate at Amarone two of the three nights we were there. Super authentic Italian food. Amazing wine list. Would highly recommend . Sandro the owner is very personable and knows his food. We will definitely be back and will recommend to our LA friends.
We had a most spectacular evening! The ambiance, the food, the wine were all amazing!!
Sandro the owner made it more special with his gracious personality! So helpful in suggestions and very lovely and upbeat! It is wonderful, small and cozy! Can't say enough good.
Absolutely delicious! If you are looking for an authentic Italian dinner, look no further!!! Hands down, it has the best pomodoro sauce in L.A., and I'm picky! The owner is absolutely lovely and the overall experience is simply wonderful. It's a perfect spot for a date night.
I've been enjoying the culinary expertise of Santos for a number of years and NEVER have I been disappointed ! I've enjoyed dining upstairs with 15 friends and allowed him to surprise us with a combination of Italian seafood delicacies--and delight us with Italian comfort food prepared flawlessly. Other visits are just my son and myself, with fare that feeds the body and the soul.
The wine list is impressive as well-- not generic libation but finds from his visits ' home' to Italy.
You will not be disappointed, I promise.
Phenomenal food combined with friendly service. A lovely and familial atmosphere.
All the pasta are handmade in their ample kitchen and are paired with rustic yet edgy sauces.
My only wish would be to improve the ambiance with background music ( maybe Batisti or some other Italian jazz.)
Leaving the door open to the noise of Sunset Blvd. traffic is off putting and it doesn't allow the a/c to function efficiently.
