Food was excellent. The service was kind of unprofessional. It felt like a lot of young people doing the best they could, but without much training. This would be a great place if the staff were better trained
Just not good food, overcooked pasta, mystery meat served with too much fat. Way too much.
I would give this place 3.5 stars at best.
Work on your menu and quality.
We ordered the Rigatoni Ragu and it was very bland, no flavor, and we were disappointed. The calamari and bruschetta were good. No bread on the table. What Italian restaurant doesn’t have bread? Our waitress was great.
Great food, ambiance, value. Loved it. Great house wine as well.
Overall a very solid Italian experience with some shining moments. The battered and fried Calamari aparizer was outstanding, something I've had so many times in my life but this was one of the best, beautifully tender calamari rings in a perfectly seasoned light batter, delicious. The rigatoni with beef cheek ragu was outstanding as well, very tender,, well balanced and again, perfectly seasoned. And finally top marks to our server Carlos who was welcoming, personable and professional to the max. If you find yourself in Calistoga craving Italian, you can't go wrong.
Cute restaurant with good food. Make sure not to have Ricky O as your waiter, worst service I’ve ever experienced. All other staff was lovely.
This restaurant is a hidden gem. Lovely patio and good food. We had no trouble finding parking.
The service was the worst we have had so far in Napa Valley. We asked for some substitutions for our sides and the server made a very big deal about how much the chef didn’t want to accommodate us but he was going to anyways. We were happy that he accommodated us nonetheless. The food was subpar compared to other places nearby.
Food was poor they were kind enough to remove wife’s meal which what not edible (shrimp scampi with prob Costco frozen shrimp)
My fettuccini Alfredo had zero cream, too much pepper (and I like pepper) and the pancetta was more like overcooked spam.
Ordered roasted garlic- not served with any bread or olive oil. Had to request bread??
Everything was great- only - minor - complaint would be feeling a bit rushed.
Our party of 4 was not impressed with the food, but may give it another try. Food service was slow, but that may have been intensional for a more relaxed atmosphere.
Great new restaurant in Calistoga. The service was first class and the staff very professional. The food was good but lacked Italian flare...No grated fresh Parmesan on the pasta and or good olive oil/balsamic on the table to dip some focaccia .
I must say that the meat ball and polenta was 5 starts. The espresso was very good.
I will return.
Overall good experience, once they dial it in, will be very compelling.
This place has promise... attention to details would be great. No one at our table enjoyed their entree and I think that the food issues could be resolved with a little more attention.
Great service, food and ambiance. We will definitely be back.
Slow service and mediocre food except the pasta and salads which were great. Expensive for the quality. Lovely outdoor seating and great ambiance.
Had the Aglio e Olio and it was excellent t! Good Caesar salad too!
We were made to feel very welcome and enjoyed the food and the service...Highly Recommend
The well managed Amaro restaurant was everything we expected from a high end foodery. The eclectic wine by the glass offers matched well with the various pasta dishes, and the wild boar sugo was superb.
Fabulous food and outstanding service. The manager, Mitchell, was pulling triple duty - seating guests, waiting tables, and working his managerial duties, yet he never missed a beat. Service was outstanding - especially considering these difficult days - and the food was delicious, expertly prepared, as well as fairy priced. Highly recommended - and if you read my reviews, you know I don't say this often.
Great meal and wine selection.
Something was up with the restaurant. It was very clear something was going down. Took 20 min to be seen when we arrived. Orders didn’t show up. It definitely was not our server’s fault. You could tell the whole place was upside down.
The food was fantastic. We had the wild boar and sausage and peppers and it was very good. The best so far in Calistoga
The service was very slow. The food was very good with the exception of a spaghetti dish that had way too much black pepper. The arugula salad was excellent and a very generous portion, the halibut was light with a nicely crisp outside & the polenta with marinara was excellent.
Mediocre and such a disappointment.
I love everything about this restaurant. The food was outstanding. Great wine. We will definitely return.
Good food as always. They (like so many others these days) seemed stretched a bit thin but they did a great job. Definitely going back (again).
We were very much looking forward to our dinner and the new menu. We could not have been more disappointed. Chicken pate was very bitter and ate only the one bite, my pasta with garlic & olive oil was bland and noodles seemed as if they had been sitting under the heat lamp too long. My dinner partner ordered the Vongole /Shrimp dinner and did not like it.
Special occasion was my wife’s birthday but the restaurant didn’t care to do anything for it. For the first half hour, no one gave us water or menus or even ask us what we want. May be because we were the only people of color and the staff didn’t even notice us until we complained to one of the staff. Horrible experience and decent food.
Staff was great from when we got there. The wine list had a nice balance of Italian and local and the pastas were delicious
First time here and on Mother's Day. We chose outdoor dining in the adjacent patio area, which was nicely set up with tables, umbrellas, spaced for COVID-19 restrictions. Menu, food, and wine are excellent Italian choices from different parts of Italy. (If you like Stanley Tucci's TV show, this is a good place to put some of that knowledge to the test.) Servers were polite, attentive, and efficient. Very welcoming staff, and the family that owns and runs it are a treasure as well.
Slow service. Bad screw up at next table over handled very badly. Guest ordered no gluten option and served gluten. Needed manager intervention. Server handled situation incompetently. No urge to return.
Love the outdoor space. Server was fair. Food was good. Music was terrible
They tried their best but they are obviously having some new business growing pains. We didn't get seated until 45 minutes after our reservation and were not comped anything for the trouble. We did receive a discount on a bottle which was appreciated. We had to ask for water etc. Food was tasty!
While we’re happy that restaurants are back open and doing good business our experience Saturday night would tell us that they were overwhelmed. We waited an hour after our reservation to be seated and although our appetizers were very good the main courses were under flavored and sauces watery. By the time our waiter came with the bill his shirt was untucked and they couldn’t wait for us to leave. We won’t be back
My wife and I enjoyed our meals and drinks.Staff very nice.A little short staffed which is common in the pandemic affected restaurant industry.Would definitely recommend and return next time we’re in Calistoga.
Beautiful garden. Owner was so nice in helping select the best wine. Nice food, beautiful ambiance.
The main course wasn’t great, but appetizers, wine and dessert were fab!
Pastas need more spice
