Christmas music in the background and the food was questionable at best, will never go back.
Small menu, food was ok, servers were nice. Prices low for CA
Not great staff/management, food and wines are low quality. The red sausage of my pasta was burned. Not going back ever.
Hello, I am very sorry you had a poor experience at our restaurant. So we can become better, I would greatly appreciate if I could have more details about your poor service and management experience, as well as the issues with your food and wine. If you would not like to respond I understand, but I hope you do. We are always trying to get better and I would like to know where we went wrong. Thank you for your time. -Dan Kaiser Owner
Always excellent food and service!
They have done a great job of converting a former adjacent parking area into a charming dining terrace
We made same day reservations and we were delightfully impressed . We sat near the window which was a quiet lil nook. Service was very good, responsive and attentive. Food was delicious, I ordered the eggplant with ricotta & marinera sauce, it was fulfilling and tasty.
Everyone was very friendly and attentive. Food was great
The food was very good. I had the spaghetti and meatballs. My wife had anti-pasta. Service was excellent and friendly. We sat outside in the courtyard, and it was not the best atmosphere.
I would come back again when dining indoors is an option.
All the dishes were nicely prepared with excellent flavors. I'd suggest they keep their menu more up to date. They listed a braised Italian meat that varied nightly. When asked for the evenings offering, they stated not doing that tonight. I was happy to see a number of Italian wines on the list. After careful consideration, I ordered one of the listed wines and when the server returned he immediately started to open the wine and I noticed it was not what I ordered. He informed me they were out and the manager gave him this one. The wine was very good however there should have been some communication.
We each had a starter and each had a main. All four were excellent. Very thoughtful and well priced wine list. Great service. The only not so-good thing was the panne cotta dessert. But overall an excellent experience.
Another great meal at Amaro. You can tell they are trying their best with these challenging times
I ordered the special which was supposed to be lamb shank. When my meal came and it wasn’t lamb shank the waiter told me the chef called an “audible”. It was basically uneatable. Same with one of my guests meal.
It took 50 minutes to get our appetizer and they didn’t serve any bread on their own. When we asked for bread it took over 10 minutes to arrive. Our appetizer plates were not cleared in a timely manner. The melon and prosciutto with burrata and olive oil was very good though a little lite on the prosciutto. Our pasta dish was excellent
Sorry but this place was very disappointing, the waiter seemed to be inconvenienced when we asked about items on the menu, , he said he was bringing place mats etc and never did, we had to ask for everything, salt & pepper, waster. ice tea etc: Not once checked on how things were and they we not busy only 2 other couples there and 1 of them left without ordering. And the food left a lot to be desired in seasoning. Would not recommend to anyone
It was the third time we have been there and the food was even better this time than the last time. When we think about Italian in Calistoga we go to Amaro
We ordered Calamari, Caesar Salad, Fava Bean Risotto & Carbonara. The calamari & salad was good but the main dishes were not. We sent back the risotto & they kindly exchanged it with beet salad but was not much better. The Carbonara was dry. The server was great! The food just missed the mark! I miss Jole!
The service was not good, we think because it was understaffed. My chicken was not fully cooked.
Below average food. This is not authentic Italian food. The service was below average as well. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant or come back.
We sat outside in the shade which was nice, but there were a lot of flies which we did not experience at other restaurants. The service was fine, but the food was just not good. The bread was very dry. Although we love bread, we did not eat what was served. The scampi was tasteless and the angel hair pasta was extremely overcooked. It was "mush-like". Very disappointed.
Food was ok and waiter was ok too. I wouldn’t come back.
Food was excellent. The service was kind of unprofessional. It felt like a lot of young people doing the best they could, but without much training. This would be a great place if the staff were better trained
Just not good food, overcooked pasta, mystery meat served with too much fat. Way too much.
I would give this place 3.5 stars at best.
Work on your menu and quality.
We ordered the Rigatoni Ragu and it was very bland, no flavor, and we were disappointed. The calamari and bruschetta were good. No bread on the table. What Italian restaurant doesn’t have bread? Our waitress was great.
Great food, ambiance, value. Loved it. Great house wine as well.
Overall a very solid Italian experience with some shining moments. The battered and fried Calamari aparizer was outstanding, something I've had so many times in my life but this was one of the best, beautifully tender calamari rings in a perfectly seasoned light batter, delicious. The rigatoni with beef cheek ragu was outstanding as well, very tender,, well balanced and again, perfectly seasoned. And finally top marks to our server Carlos who was welcoming, personable and professional to the max. If you find yourself in Calistoga craving Italian, you can't go wrong.
Cute restaurant with good food. Make sure not to have Ricky O as your waiter, worst service I’ve ever experienced. All other staff was lovely.
This restaurant is a hidden gem. Lovely patio and good food. We had no trouble finding parking.
The service was the worst we have had so far in Napa Valley. We asked for some substitutions for our sides and the server made a very big deal about how much the chef didn’t want to accommodate us but he was going to anyways. We were happy that he accommodated us nonetheless. The food was subpar compared to other places nearby.
Food was poor they were kind enough to remove wife’s meal which what not edible (shrimp scampi with prob Costco frozen shrimp)
My fettuccini Alfredo had zero cream, too much pepper (and I like pepper) and the pancetta was more like overcooked spam.
Ordered roasted garlic- not served with any bread or olive oil. Had to request bread??
Everything was great- only - minor - complaint would be feeling a bit rushed.
Our party of 4 was not impressed with the food, but may give it another try. Food service was slow, but that may have been intensional for a more relaxed atmosphere.
Great new restaurant in Calistoga. The service was first class and the staff very professional. The food was good but lacked Italian flare...No grated fresh Parmesan on the pasta and or good olive oil/balsamic on the table to dip some focaccia .
I must say that the meat ball and polenta was 5 starts. The espresso was very good.
I will return.
Overall good experience, once they dial it in, will be very compelling.
This place has promise... attention to details would be great. No one at our table enjoyed their entree and I think that the food issues could be resolved with a little more attention.
Great service, food and ambiance. We will definitely be back.
Slow service and mediocre food except the pasta and salads which were great. Expensive for the quality. Lovely outdoor seating and great ambiance.
Had the Aglio e Olio and it was excellent t! Good Caesar salad too!
We were made to feel very welcome and enjoyed the food and the service...Highly Recommend
The well managed Amaro restaurant was everything we expected from a high end foodery. The eclectic wine by the glass offers matched well with the various pasta dishes, and the wild boar sugo was superb.
Fabulous food and outstanding service. The manager, Mitchell, was pulling triple duty - seating guests, waiting tables, and working his managerial duties, yet he never missed a beat. Service was outstanding - especially considering these difficult days - and the food was delicious, expertly prepared, as well as fairy priced. Highly recommended - and if you read my reviews, you know I don't say this often.
Great meal and wine selection.
