   My wife and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary and were greeted with a complimentary glass of champagne. Both of our meals were delicious, and the portions were very generous.

   We have a mixed review here….two shrimp scampi dinners were pretty good, and they were nice enough to leave out the garlic on one at our request. The stuffed pepper was not to my liking, and they graciously deducted it from our bill. Otherwise, it was OK…but, they need to put some fresh flowers in the window boxes.

   A gem of Calistoga! Wonderful menu. Excellent plating. Attentive service. First time at the restaurant. We were there to celebrate our 30th anniversary. The experience made for a lovely evening.

    We had a great Sunday night dinner sharing the Caesar salad, polenta dish and meatballs. The food was delicious. It was very quiet that night,but I’m guessing it can be lively on the weekend.

    Although the servers were kind, they were clearly stretched too thin and didn’t do much to manage it. They let people sit all over the place and couldn’t service the restaurant as a result. The food was mediocre at best. The pappardelle was over cooked and the ragu had large bones that should have been removed by the chef. The waiter came after we finished eating (to say he was busy as if we weren’t as important as the other tables), left the check and never came back. We fully understand Covid times but this was just beyond. We come here annually and this may now be our last.

    Amaro has great ambience. It is cozy with a consistent Italian theme throughout. Our main courses were delicious - the ingredients fresh. The antipasti was only okay. Strange to have large chunks of parmesan, and only one other cheese that you could actually eat with the crostini and meat. Generally speaking, it was a good meal but not as good as I hoped based on the scene.

    Friendly staff. Entree took extremely long to arrive. Atmosphere was awesome but loud guests who had a bit too much to drink spoiled the enjoyment of our meal.

    Very disappointing. The gravy was not true Italian gravy, but more of a burnt gravy. The meatballs were bland, and had no flavoring. My wife and I did not even finish our meal.

    We had a magical time at Amaro last night. This quaint, down to earth bistro is a real gem! Brian was our bartender /server, and he alone rates five stars. His excellent recommendations, and personalized attention made for a wonderful experience. Our food was delicious; the cocktails and wines, perfect. We recommend you sit at the bar ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

    Food was really good. Issue was the service. 3 out of 4 items we had were delicious! But the service was not great. Min issue was as that no one was in charge of our table: instead it was a team effort that fell short. There were long delays between dishes, we had to ask many times about drinks and water, and different people would ask multiple times if we wanted something: dessert, another dish, etc. The space is nice but without positive energy of multiple diners loving it it will continue to only be “okay.”

    Swordfish was done perfectly the real Italian way, sliced thin and grilled hot. Clams and Mussels were in an awesome, spicy cannellini bean "stew". Great meal!

    The asparagus salad was the best item we had. The shrimp fettuccini entree unfortunately had lots of capers. Either we missed that or it was not disclosed on the menu. Kind of ruined the dish.

    Went there for Thanksgiving dinner so not the typical menu items. They had Turkey, mashed potatoes w/ gravy, green bean casserole and stuffing. Everything nicely prepared and delicious. The stuffing was amazing. Could use a little more seasoning in the Turkey but it was fresh and very delicious. Dessert was pecan pie and it was The server was incredibly friendly and professional. Nice atmosphere as well. Will go back to try the rest of their menu.

    We sat outside with a lovely heat lamp and white lights. We ordered the best salad, meatball appetizer, papperadelle and stuffed pepper. Everything was great. Service was great. Wine was great. It's nice when a menu has a great variety that makes you want to come back for more. Server was very attentive and positive too!

    Overall the food was good except the rabbit papardelle. The pasta was overcooked and there was four varieties of pasta on the plate (penne, macaroni, spaghetti, and papardelle). When I brought it to the server's attention, I got a shrug and a "sorry". The service felt as if we were an inconvenience to the waitstaff, felt very rushed.

    Severely understaffed and it showed. Lack of communication or flexibility … unprofessional response from owner when someone complained. Food was good, but not great. I understand they were short-staffed, but those there didn’t exactly make it a welcome experience. Sorry to say. Won’t be returning. 😓

    They had outside patio which was nice until it got dark. There was not sufficient lighting to read menu. The wait staff were slow and ignored outside guests. Food was mediocre - sent one plate back. Slow night overall so not due to being busy.

    Made reservations here as was tough finding a location with avl space. When we arrived (630) they were not very busy as other locations we passed. We were concerned we chose poorly, but were pleasantly surprised. The service was great, place was clean( sat outside) prices were reasonable and most importantly food and wine were excellent!

    I have been to Amaro once before and the food was excellent. Unfortunately, this was not the case on this visit. I was so disappointed. Not only was the food just okay, the presentation was sloppy, with obvious splatters on the plates and dripping down the sides of the plate. Only 1 of the 4 diners had food that was seasoned well and appetizing. I talked this restaurant up to our guests with us, so was doubly disappointed for them and for me. Not sure if it was on off night or new chef but I will not be returning to find out. I don't mind paying a high premium for good food and service, but this restaurant let me down. So sad.
