WE ARE OFFERING HAPPY HOUR FOOD AND DRINK MENU FROM 5.30 TO 6.30 WEEK DAY ONLY
Amarena is a chic, urban neighborhood hideout perfect for dates, a quick bite, or a casual dinner with old friends. Amarena delivers hearty, innovative and skillfully prepared dishes from the first course to the last.
Went to Amarena for Valentines day with my girlfriend. Booked ahead of time to make sure we had a reservation to start at 6:30pm. It was a fixed menu due to the occasion but with options. First two courses came out fine, though small. The main course took over 40 mins to come out. Our server finally came over because we looked so bored. Once we got our main course the manager came over to apologize and did bring a out a tiny dessert wine (which was disgusting). We didn't get to leave till after 8:30pm. Meal overall was good though nothing spectacular, just salty if anything. The whole meal was $217, wayyyyyy too much for the food and bad service. I really wish we went someone else. I don't recommend.
Valentine’s Day . Very attentive service. Lovely setting. Nice combination of flavors in holiday’s set menu.
Great food, nice staff!
If you need an incredible, intimate neighborhood Italian food fix, Amarena is the place. Amazing food, service and setting - We enjoyed mussels, gnocchi, risotto, sea bass and pappardelle with lamb ragu, a bottle of chianti and ended with our favorite affogato. Upscale but unpretentious. We can not wait to return - a true gem.
I had a friend come in from out of town and we had such a nice dinner here. The manager was so nice and the food was delicious. Highly recommend
Been going here for years for a group of 10 of us. Love it and will be back.
Amarena was fantastic. We were there for a girls night out and it was a great place to go. Mood was entergetic in there and the service was great. Only downside was bathroom location, we were happy to not be at the table right in front of it.
A great experience and service was exceptional. I love coming here on a weeknight. My fifth time here and will come again for sure!
Delicious home style Italian. Service could have been better, but it was a holiday.
Wonderful, as always. Great set menu for New Year’s Eve.
Amarena is the best! And Paolo and his staff always make dining there a fabulous experience. We always go to Amarena on our trips to SF!
They were able to accommodate our large group which was really nice. It got quite busy around 7:30pm, but service was still great. They were kind, attentive, and the pasta was delicious ! I will definitely be going back :).
Great southern Italian food meticulously prepared. Every element was flavorful and nicely presented. The staff are friendly and helpful, watchful and never intrusive. I’ll be back often bringing family and friends.
This place is just consistently fantastic. The Gorgonzola gnocchis are incredible!
Our waiter was not very attentive and my pasta was ice cold.
Awesome neighborhood Italian restaurant.
Good food, fun wait staff
Great pasta service slow
Best Italian meal I have had in the city - being gluten free is not your friend when you want a great Italian meal but they had GF pasta and had the truffle and mushroom sauce that was out of this world.
Wonderful neighborhood restaurant. Great food and great staff. Wide variety menu and wine list. Great overall experience
Neighborhood restaurant, delicious food, good service, good value.
The butternut squash ravioli was incredible! The ambiance was lovely and romantic, great for a couple.
We made an open table reservation an hour before and arrived on time. We waited 25 minutes. Once seated, we had to ask twice to order. Salads came quickly but we waited 30 minutes for entrees. We had to remind them and they had forgotten. By this time the restaurant was almost empty. There was NEVER any apology for any of it. The worst service I have had in a long time. Will not be going back any time soon to a local favorite.
Everything we ordered was excellent. In particular the burrata app/ starter and the Osco Bucco were standouts. Service was prompt, professional and friendly. I also like the neighborhood feeling of the area vs the busy tourist areas. A caution- Osco Bucco is not available every night. Call ahead if that’s what you want.
We love this place. We had Giada as our waitress (again). Love her!!!.. she is the best!
Food was great, Lambrusco is amazing. But the service is painfully slow
Best Italian food in the city it’s a little gem don’t miss this place
This is one of my favorite restaurants in town. It is my neighborhood corner place, but even if it weren't that convenient, I would make my way here. The owner Paolo is effusively friendly and with his Italian accent, makes everything sound great. The selection on the menu is broad with old standards and unique dishes you can only find at Amarena. The pastas are homemade and fresh, the sauces are great and the wine selection is appropriate to the food.
The only concern is that it is a bit loud so don't come here if you are looking for that intimate romantic dinner. Make sure you bring your outdoor voice because you will need it. And that is because you will come here again and again so be prepared!
We go there often and it is always good, and the service is excellent.
Probably best Italian restaurant in SF. Food and service are top notch. Very authentic.
No where to park.
Great food. Close to where we staying so convenient & overall great experience.
I loved my buccatini, the first item on the primi list and will be back to have it again. The beet salad is also delicious.
Great food and service! A local gem.
We absolutely LOVED Amarena! We have a French bistro go-to, and have been looking for an Italian go-to. This is it! The service was superb, from the owner/manager/host? right down to the bus staff. The food was equally superb, and the atmosphere was just what we wanted -- warm, intimate, cozy, neighborhood-y. Everything was reasonably priced and the portions were just right -- not small, but not huge (huge = tacky). Loved it, and can't wait to go back... which we will, often!
Always send friends visiting S.F. and they refer to it as a S.F. highlight!
Fresh and delicious. Nice ambiance and the wait staff was delightful.
This neighborhood restaurant is low key and lovely. The owner is warm and welcoming. The menu is sufficiently diverse to satisfy almost everyone. The food is superb. Rich meaty lasagna with a lovely flavorful sauce was my choice. My wife chose the small plate eggplant for herself. The eggplant was perfectly cooked with a light flavorful marinara sauce complementing the dish. Our desert was Creme Brûlée which was very good but slightly less cooked than we typically expect. That did not detract from its delicate taste however. I had complimented the balsamic dipping sauce and the proprietress game us some to take home. It was our first visit and we liked Amarena so much we are bringing family there a week after that 1st visit.
Such a great spot. Nice ambiance, friendly knowledgeable service and great fresh food!
Uniquely San Franciscan neighborhood gem with outstanding food, friendly and attentive service from the owner and his staff, in a beautiful and intimate setting.
Dinner was for two birthdays and a wedding engagement announcement.
Went with my family for my father-in-law’s birthday and it was a wonderful experience. The food was amazing and the service was outstanding.
