Had a delightful dinner outside. Service was good snd food unusual and delicious
FOOD WAS DELICIOUS
The food was delicious, the outdoor space was lovely and inside is inviting
The food and ambiance is amazing
Best bronzino I’ve ever had!
Went the night there was a live band. The music was great but like all live bands in a small area, not great for conversation.
Great service. Relax atmosphere and food is perfectly executed. Would recommend wholeheartedly!
Food was fabulous. Service was great by our server however an error was made with the wine order. We ordered the Spanish La Rioja 2012 but we were served the La Rioja 2011. One could argue the server made a mistake or we as guest didn’t look at the bottle carefully when presented by server to have corrected the server’s error to bring us the correct bottle of La Rioja. Nevertheless, I was not too happy with the mistake when I was presented the bill but I didn’t feel the need to create a scene to dispute the bill. So I paid the bill with a built in 18% administration fee (never encountered such a fee before) and gave a small cash tip to the server. This experience taught us a lesson, always look at the bottle carefully to make sure it’s the correct order to avoid surprise with the bill.
I'm glad that the food was great. Regarding the wine issue - our current La Rioja Alta selections include a 2011 '904' at $145 and a 2014 'Gran Reserve' at $95 (we don't currently offer a Rioja 2012). We do present the wine to minimize any miscommunication of what is ordered (red wines are also left on the table). That being said, we don't want you to feel badly - I'd be happy to offer the price difference (if there is one) as a future credit. Please email us: captain@amalinyc(dotcom).
Varried menu. Lots of good stuff. Even having appetizers instead of a main would be satisfying
Hit and miss dishes. Some were great others bland. Other than the pasta, felt like the food needed more flavor. Perhaps use more olive oil?
Btw- inedible olive oil cake. Very hard dense.
The best Mediterranean food in a long time
The tomato hummus was amazing
Olive oil was so so good
Tried Both vegetarian and fish options FANTASTIC!
Great wine selection
Chocolate cake not the best but strawberries and cream was phenomenal !
Loved the staff! So friendly and kind! Will definitely return
Great scallops, terrific wine list! Great date!
Excellent service. We attended for my friend’s birthday/promotion and the restaurant was very accommodating and made us feel special!
The food was great and the service staff was wonderful.
It was delicious
My friend and I had a wonderful time dining at Amali for the first time. The food was delectable and the service was excellent. Our server was jovial and in great spirits plus had a good sense of humor. We cannot wait to come back in the near future! Thank you for a truly memorable experience!
Amali is fine - service was fine, food was fine, and the ambiance is cute. Was pretty loud inspite of not being very crowded. Nothing to write home about. Not rushing back, but fine to return if everything else is booked.
Definitely do not recommend the tasting menu. We regret just not ordering off the menu which looked more appealing than what we got in the tasting menu. The servers had no idea what we were eating. Both main courses were pasta. Guessing this place use to be better. Jazz music and ambiance were both nice.
Food was gross. They add 18% to the check. Don’t go there.
Food was really excellent—and has been on all of our recent visits. Last night, however, service left something to be desired. We sat outside and the restaurant inside and out was not busy. Yet we searched for a waiter for water or ice several times to no avail. There was an unexplained long wait between the appetizer and main course. Perhaps, they were understaffed or we were caught in a transition of workers.
I can only hope that service level last night was the exception—it would be a shame for the service to undermine the great food!
Excellent food on a beautiful breezy evening outdoors
Overall great meal and service. My party had multiple dietary restrictions and our waitress Kathryn was able to guide us through the menu with what would be gluten and allium free. Thank you to Kathryn and the Amali kitchen for a rear experience. We will be back.
Great staff, food and atmosphere. Thank you !!
Food and service were very good. The place needs some hip music or something to give it a better vibe.
Great atmosphere, great service, and great food. Highly recommend.
Amazing food attentive staff tasting menu with wine pairings was outstanding
We had a delicious early dinner at Amali. The pasta is divine. We have been there before so went back for the pasta- literally tasted like Italy. So savory. We sat outside at a cute table for two and enjoyed delicious wine. It was very hot and the waiter was very kind to bring us many refills of water and glasses of ice. The only noise was next door's outside venue but it was kind of nice. Overall, we love Amali and will be back.
Delicious food, very relaxed and pleasant environment!
This was a fantastic dinner. We did the Wednesday night Jazz. The food was delicious. The servers were wonderful and the Jazz was fantastic. A great date night with my wife.
Overall the food was exquisite. Four stars is because the olive oil cake was so dry and terrible that it soured me on the whole meal. For the level of the rest of the food, it was shockingly bad. Drinks were perfection!! Some of the best I’ve had. Leek dish, Jerusalem artichokes, both excellent. Homemade spaghetti was out of this world good. Another surprise at the end of the meal was a rather high percentage Charge appearing on the bill which i looked up on line and found out was to something to help staff earn a living wage. I support that, but do NOT like being surprised by it. They need to put an explanation on the menu or something. If they did it is not easily noticeable , and so left me with a bitter taste in my mouth, even worse than the cake!
I found the menu a bit limiting but the Branzino for 2 was excellent.
I must say I was really disappointed in the food. The portions for the appetizers were small and mediocre. We had the wild mushroom caponata and the octopus. The service was just so so. The busboy (man) was meticulously cleaning and picking up plates around me while I was still eating.
Friends liked the crudo and oysters. I was unimpressed with the lamb pasta. A weird taste.
For me the best thing was the bread and butter.
Basically I can’t remember ever giving such a negative review, but it was a disappointing meal on a beautiful summer night.
Food was average at best & over priced - would not go back
