I loved this spot when I went a couple of years ago — returned Monday and everything about it was totally average from the service to the food. I did like the wine though!
I really enjoyed my time here and the food was great! The coziness of the table and surrounding area was perfect. The sorbet and gelato was AMAZING! Definitely coming back.
Unremarkable food. Slow service by uninformed waitstaff. Won’t go back.
The restaurant was very busy and noisy when we arrived, but fortunately they opened a section at the back that was just perfect. Friends of ours joined 5’ before the kitchen’s closing time and they were cordially served. The food was spectacular and the sommelier very helpful and friendly. We just hope that in the future their wine list includes Montauk Rosé. :-)
Delicious med menu choices, comfortable, inviting, great service. A winner 6 years young!
Great food and service. Waitress was extremely professional!!
Our favorite place to get the family together when we come to NYC. Food, wine, music, service are all first rate. Took my daughter’s friends out for her birthday. They said it was their best dinner out ever!
Met with friends prior to an early curtain at 59E59 and therefore we only wanted a few share plates. The food came promptly and we weren’t pressured to order drinks or additional food. Will definitely recommend to others I know going to the theatre, particularly our vegetarian friends
Really good seasonal menu, service solid and priced well.
All we ordered from the menu was pretty good.
Love the smoke trout salads. The lamb burger was a miss. Meat was too hard and dry.
It was too salty with the feta cheese. do not recommend.
Great time. Nice wine dinner which paired some of my favorites from the chef with a Greek wine we hadn’t had before. Enjoyable from start to finish.
Very nice restaurant and the service was great. Food is tasty and simple but not spectacular.
Not the usual dishes, but not crazy, either. The freshness of ingredients and menu ideas is obvious. Very friendly and efficient service.
We have been there many times. The food is always excellent, The wines are good and the prices are reasonable specially foe New York city.
Very loud and expensive but delicious
Food was good, noise was excessive, impossible to hold a conversation. Service would have been better if waitress wasn't so busy trying to be friends with people at the next table
Excellent food, attentive wait staff, great energy.
For something in its very expensive neighborhood, this was reasonable, though certainly no bargain. Service was impeccable; wine list exceptional. Food very good. I'd happily return.
Attentive and knowledgeable service . Excellence in presentation, quality and flavor!
Fabulous as always.
We only wanted a limited meal so can't do justice to the menu. What we had was excellent. The pasta portion was fairly small---the waitress warned us---but that was all that we had wanted. If we had been hungry, I would have felt it was too small and over priced.
Wines were excellent but again somewhat over priced.
second time at amali, first for brunch. very enjoyable experience overall; nice menu, delicious food (charcuterie and cheese selections are divine), very good service, nice cocktails. definitely will be back, really enjoyed.
Another wonderful meal at Amali. The food is amazing and so is the service. Highly recommend!
Went for dinner with friends before theater. Food was fabulous - we all got the chicken under a brick with great green sauce and caponata. Restaurant was crowded because of party upstairs and 2 large groups downstairs. In spite of this, service was still attentive. We had plenty of time to get to the theater.
Amazing service, lovely owner, I can't wait to go back. I went to lunch with a friend I hadn't seen in months to celebrate good health news. The server was attentive and kind. The owner came and shook our hands. And at the end of our meal, they helped us celebrate with some extra gelato!
If you aren't too hungry and are in no rush, this is the place. The service is extremely slow even when empty. The first time we had brunch here, we were the only patrons for Sunday brunch and we waited about 45 mins for scrambled eggs and potatoes. This last time, there were 3 occupied tables and the wait was just as long. No offer of bread, a drink...nada. We asked for the coffee and drink, no offer. The Mimosa was flat.
The food is really good! The softly scrambled eggs are delicious. Order the has browns. They are crispy on the outside and perfectly seasoned.
I wish the service was as good as the food. Although overpriced, the service is the main reason we won't be eating there again-just not worth the wait and lack of attention. Sad. We live in the neighborhood and love to brunch.
The coffee was not very good and it turned cold very quickly. The food and service was good and the atmosphere very nice.
I recently attended a private event hosted at Amali recently. It was a truly memorable evening, with awesome food, attentive service, and a beautiful dining room. I enjoyed it so much that I decided to come back and experience it again, this time in their main dining room.
We arrived a bit early for our reservation, so we started off with a drink at the bar. My husband tried the Black Eagle, which was made with top-shelf bourbon and black walnut bitters. I had the Luchini, which was a tequila-based drink with a spicy rim. Delicious! We ordered some marinated olives to munch on while we sipped on our cocktails.
After that, we made our way to our corner table. It was perfect for people-watching as we could see the entire dining room, yet it also felt very cozy and intimate. As for food, we had the Spanish octopus to start. It was amazing - packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. Our taste buds were singing with every bite!
For entrees, we shared the lobster fra diavolo and the chicken under a brick. Apparently, they are very well-known for this chicken, and after trying it, we understood why. It was an incredibly simple dish, but it was very satisfying. Dessert was a coffee creme brûlée - fantastic!
Service was efficient and friendly.
We did see a table near us enjoying a huge salt-baked fish - it looked spectacular! Maybe next time... and there will be a next time! :)
I don’t usually leave reviews but feel compelled to do so after a terrible experience Friday night. I have been to this restaurant numerous times & it is my go to neighborhood place. In fact, have referred many people here & even bring out of town friends here (despite all of the amazing restaurants here in the city because I feel so strongly about the quality of food here!) However, my view has changed. We had an early reservation to celebrate a friend’s birthday. The restaurant was empty & we were at our table for at least 30 minutes before any staff acknowledged us or offered us a drink. I asked to see the sommelier to order wine (A service that I have used many times here) I don’t think she was really a sommelier because the only 2 adjectives that came out of her mouth were “funky” & “petrol”. She was rude & condescending & even rolled her eyes at one of my friends. Completely unprofessional. This was the first time I had ever used this specific sommelier. My other sommelier experiences here had always been so positive! Amalie, your food is amazing but you need to do something about your service. You lost me as a customer.
After several visits, I can honestly say that I have never been disappointed at Amali and I look forward to many more healthy meals there. The service is always absolutely correct: friendly, efficient and knowledgeable.
Had a business meeting there and had a great experience. It is a fairly small place but the food and service was excellent.
Will add experience later.
The food here is amazing, great staff and ambiance... overall a very nice place to go. This was my second time here and I will be back for sure.
Friendly staff, relaxed ambiance, food very good and nicely presented; Portions a bit on the small side, but of high quality.
Very disappointed that there was 1 vegetarian hot meal option in the menu.
Also a bit disappointed that they were not very flexible on simple changes on the menu.
We’ve been here many times, and always order the brick chicken - it’s the best in the city!
Food was mediocre and service poor. found it soo loud we had a hard time talking and rushed to leave so we could have a conversation.
Incredibly disappointed by this place, was expecting to love it based on other reviews. The food was subpar, the chickpea croquettes were full of dough, the home made pasta was bland at best, the chicken was the only decent dish. The service was subpar, the wine was terrible, will not be returning.
Got here late with a group. Great service and food. I'd highly recommend the hanger steak. I'd return
We were a large group and we were overcharged, they did not explain clearly the rules for a large group nor they explained how many dishes they were serving us. I only saw 4 burratas though they charged 6 (and similar with others), they were not able to offer an explanation. I would not go back.
