Amazing food and service!
Wonderful dining experience! A surprisingly hidden gem on E 60th St! The food was delicious and we had very attentive service :) Everyone we had contact with was so warm, professional and passionate (service was 5 stars)!
All suggestions were spot on, heaters and the outdoor dining experience in 30 degrees was enjoyable..
We all commented that based on our experience at Amali we could handle dining el fresco this winter if we could have the same experience at other restaurants!!
Quality outdoor sent up. It is open-air enough that you dont feel closed in but warm enough that you are not cold.
The food was INCREDIBLE and interesting. The waiters gave great wine suggestions that weren't outrageously expensive and paired so lovely with our food. We got the tuna toro, spanish octopus, lamb cavatelli, salt-baked dorade, labneh, delicata squash, and cauliflower. For dessert, the olive oil cake was moist and delicious with a great balance between citrus and the olio. (Also got the thyme sorbet) They gave me a special dark chocolate napoleon-like pastry and played fun music. As the last customers of the evening and celebrating a birthday, they asked us what music we wanted and generally were respectful and helpful without being overbearing.
Outdoor seating had a good ambiance with greenery installed, and I felt very safe from a COVID perspective. Everyone wore masks and didn't hover longer than necessary.
In the end, four of us paid about $130-140 for two bottles of incredible wine, a crazy good and over-the-top feast, and an additional 20-25% tip on top of the 10% tip applied for parties above 5 people. Two days later, I am still in a good mood and dreaming of this meal. Best birthday ever! I have already suggested Amali to multiple friends (and we're pretty picky but adventurous eaters) and plan on going back!
20/10 HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
Love the new menu and changes inside. An absolute, UES go-to!
Food was great and service too! Nice surprise. Live nearby.
The service was outstanding, and the food was excellent. The bread and feta spread that was brought out first are worth the trip. The branzino for two was perfectly prepared and comes with two vegetable sides. I preferred the broccoli to the delicata squash. For dessert, my husband and I shared the tiganethes (fried bread) were subtly sweetened by the raw honey. A perfect ending to a lovely meal.
Warm, friendly, knowledgeable staff and beautiful, delicious food! Loved our experience at Amali - excited to go back soon!
My friend and I had an absolutely fabulous experience at Amali. All the staff were attentive to our dietary needs, friendly, and provided overall excellent customer service. I would definitely return.
Honestly even better than pre pandemic. Our experience was off the charts. Even our picky eaters and our vegan were thrilled. The chef personally came out twice to discuss options. The service was so attentive. Food was truly excellent
Great food, great staff, great ambiance!
We were a party of 5 and had a great experience eating outside at Amali. The staff is incredibly friendly and very passionate about what they do. Amazing gluten-free options. Definitely an up and coming restaurant in nyc.
Food and service were both excellent. The chef was incredibly hands on and brought the entrees out personally, which was a really nice touch. We sat inside and felt completely comfortable - the tables are well spaced out and the dining room is beautiful. We live in the neighborhood and will be back often.
Excellent menu and food, very good service. Appreciated the complimentary aperitifs tonight.
Great Toscan beef.
The food was great. The service started out good. A waitress dropped some drinks on a diner. It was unfortunate, she seemed apologetic. But it was like the wait staff forgot what they were doing. Our waiter walked by a few times, could not get his attention. Finally got the check. Seemed like a one of so will definitely go back.
We apologize for your experience with the waitstaff. As you said, it is definitely not like us. We are glad that you will be returning! Email us so we can tend your table personally - James, Kylie, Tanya, Michael, and Dara
This is a beautiful little restaurant with great food, amazing servers. It was a perfect brunch for us.
Two private parties in the house, and the place was hopping. Husband loved his pork chop. Cocktails and Lamb burger were yummy. Service was excellent.
great restaurant and amazing food. definitely will come back. ohh, the drinks were really good too!
We are pleased to hear that your experience at Calissa went well. Thank you for joining us and taking the time to write a kind review. Please email us so we can handle your reservation personally -James, Kylie, Tanya, Michael and Dara
We were a bit concerned when we made the reservation because the kitchen doesn’t open until 530 and we had 7 o’clock theater tickets. The staff was very accommodating and got us out so that we didn’t feel rushed while we were eating or as we were leaving. None of us have very big appetites, but we all felt the portions were small. The ambience of the restaurant was delightful.
We take pride in the way we train our staff and are pleased to hear that our management is headed towards the right direction. We are always looking to improve and we will seriously consider your comment regarding our portion size. Please email us if you decide to visit us again. -James, Kylie, Tanya, Michael and Dara
Always great. My go to place when I attend the 59 E 59th theater.
The place wreaked of a potent floor cleaner like pinesol or lysol.
Rina- we apologize for the smell of the disinfectant at our restaurant. I am not sure what you mean by “wreaked” in this situation, unless you are referring to the way the odor “wreaked” havoc on your olfactory nervous system. I think you may have meant “reeked,” to which I would reply that it is good to know that the smell came from something keeping the floors clean!
Wine selection was yucky and expensive. Pasta dish was minuscule. Giant prawns were advertised as warm but cool. The sorbet we think was frozen yogurt. We loved the baby lettuce salad.
We would not go back.
Joancofyardleypa, thank you for expressing your concern. We take pride in our extensive wine collection and our approach to Meditteranean cuisine, as we are first and foremost true to ourselves and our clients. We understand if you feel as though we falsely advertised, but we hope to see you again soon to prove that it is untrue. Should you return, please email us. -James, Kylie, Tanya, Michael and Dara
Food and service was excellent! I just found this restaurant even though I’ve been many times to their other delicious (but loud!!) restaurant next door, the Bar room. This was my second visit to Amali and the waiter even remembered the wine that I liked from my first visit. The food both times was delicious. Don’t miss the broccoli and the roasted carrots side dishes. This is my new neighborhood favorite place.
We are grateful that you have enjoyed your stay with us and hope to continue to meet your expectations as your new neighborhood favorite place. Please email us so we can handle your reservation personally -James, Kylie, Tanya, Michael and Dara
The whipped feta was absolutely to die for and the octopus was perfectly cooked and I love the way they served it. The bronzino was really well cooked but nothing to write home about. this restaurant is known for its extensive wine list, however, the wines by the glass are very limited. I would love to see some more unique options on the by the glass list. I really struggled with the service here. it could have been because we were there at sort of an off time between lunch and dinner but still for the cost they should be on their game consistently.
The staff at Amali were fantastic! The food was delicious, and we’ll definitely be back soon!
The food is great, the atmosphere is great. My only complaint is that the portion size of the pasta is too little for the price. Reduce the price for that portion of pasta or add more for the current price.
good food............................... Price was a bit unexpected.
The food was absolutely delicious! Loved the interiors too.
The food and service was amazing. Great menu. I can't wait to return.
Our food was so so and the service was horrible. We had to ask our server multiple times for more bread, my tea and for salt/pepper. Food was bland - 3 of 4 people had to season food to eat it.
We appreciate and will take into consideration your constructive criticism. That being said, we strive for our food to be more than “so so.” We pride ourselves on using local, fresh ingredients to make delicious and authentic Meditteranean food. It seems that our kitchen was having an off night. Definitely not an accurate representation of us. Should you choose to come back, let me know so we can tend to your table personally -James, Kylie, Tanya, Michael and Dara
Good ambience, good food
I expected more. Food is ok not amazing and service is rather slow but they are friendly
Amazing! One of my favorite places in the city
The food had no flavor, and the restaurant can not be classified as Mediterranean. The dishes were all over the place, no cohesiveness. I had the monk fish with the curry coconut sauce, the fish was tough and
breaded with no flavor, my brother steak was bland and so was my mother's pork chop. Finally the dessert was bitter. It was not a good experience.
Thank you for taking the time to write this review and we will make an effort to address your concerns and turn this experience around. However, we are foremost Mediterranean in spirit. Sustainability and seasonality is at the forefront of our minds and our dishes are rooted in traditional Greek and Mediterranean practices. Should you choose to give Calissa another chance, please email us so we may handle your reservation and greet you personally. - James, Kylie, Tanya, Michael and Dara
Food and Service was Excellent!!
Intelligent Menu. Tasteful decor. Simple, but classy dishes. Agreeable lighting.
Will come back as soon as possible.
Booked dinner after seeing the Rockettes Christmas Spectacular. We ordered the dips to share (cauliflower hummus, feta and carrot dip)- all were delicious. The fish of the day was Fluke and it was delicious. The homemade pasta, the beet salad, the roasted carrots, braised lentils- all amazing. The waitstaff was attentive without being disruptive. Dinner was wonderful
Perfect!! A must for a special occasion...
