We only wanted a limited meal so can't do justice to the menu. What we had was excellent. The pasta portion was fairly small---the waitress warned us---but that was all that we had wanted. If we had been hungry, I would have felt it was too small and over priced.

Wines were excellent but again somewhat over priced.

Another wonderful meal at Amali. The food is amazing and so is the service. Highly recommend!

Went for dinner with friends before theater. Food was fabulous - we all got the chicken under a brick with great green sauce and caponata. Restaurant was crowded because of party upstairs and 2 large groups downstairs. In spite of this, service was still attentive. We had plenty of time to get to the theater.

Amazing service, lovely owner, I can't wait to go back. I went to lunch with a friend I hadn't seen in months to celebrate good health news. The server was attentive and kind. The owner came and shook our hands. And at the end of our meal, they helped us celebrate with some extra gelato!

If you aren't too hungry and are in no rush, this is the place. The service is extremely slow even when empty. The first time we had brunch here, we were the only patrons for Sunday brunch and we waited about 45 mins for scrambled eggs and potatoes. This last time, there were 3 occupied tables and the wait was just as long. No offer of bread, a drink...nada. We asked for the coffee and drink, no offer. The Mimosa was flat.

The food is really good! The softly scrambled eggs are delicious. Order the has browns. They are crispy on the outside and perfectly seasoned.

I wish the service was as good as the food. Although overpriced, the service is the main reason we won't be eating there again-just not worth the wait and lack of attention. Sad. We live in the neighborhood and love to brunch.

The coffee was not very good and it turned cold very quickly. The food and service was good and the atmosphere very nice.

I recently attended a private event hosted at Amali recently. It was a truly memorable evening, with awesome food, attentive service, and a beautiful dining room. I enjoyed it so much that I decided to come back and experience it again, this time in their main dining room.
We arrived a bit early for our reservation, so we started off with a drink at the bar. My husband tried the Black Eagle, which was made with top-shelf bourbon and black walnut bitters. I had the Luchini, which was a tequila-based drink with a spicy rim. Delicious! We ordered some marinated olives to munch on while we sipped on our cocktails.
After that, we made our way to our corner table. It was perfect for people-watching as we could see the entire dining room, yet it also felt very cozy and intimate. As for food, we had the Spanish octopus to start. It was amazing - packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. Our taste buds were singing with every bite!
For entrees, we shared the lobster fra diavolo and the chicken under a brick. Apparently, they are very well-known for this chicken, and after trying it, we understood why. It was an incredibly simple dish, but it was very satisfying. Dessert was a coffee creme brûlée - fantastic!
Service was efficient and friendly.
We did see a table near us enjoying a huge salt-baked fish - it looked spectacular! Maybe next time... and there will be a next time! :)

I don’t usually leave reviews but feel compelled to do so after a terrible experience Friday night. I have been to this restaurant numerous times & it is my go to neighborhood place. In fact, have referred many people here & even bring out of town friends here (despite all of the amazing restaurants here in the city because I feel so strongly about the quality of food here!) However, my view has changed. We had an early reservation to celebrate a friend’s birthday. The restaurant was empty & we were at our table for at least 30 minutes before any staff acknowledged us or offered us a drink. I asked to see the sommelier to order wine (A service that I have used many times here) I don’t think she was really a sommelier because the only 2 adjectives that came out of her mouth were “funky” & “petrol”. She was rude & condescending & even rolled her eyes at one of my friends. Completely unprofessional. This was the first time I had ever used this specific sommelier. My other sommelier experiences here had always been so positive! Amalie, your food is amazing but you need to do something about your service. You lost me as a customer.

After several visits, I can honestly say that I have never been disappointed at Amali and I look forward to many more healthy meals there. The service is always absolutely correct: friendly, efficient and knowledgeable.

Very disappointed that there was 1 vegetarian hot meal option in the menu.
Also a bit disappointed that they were not very flexible on simple changes on the menu.

Incredibly disappointed by this place, was expecting to love it based on other reviews. The food was subpar, the chickpea croquettes were full of dough, the home made pasta was bland at best, the chicken was the only decent dish. The service was subpar, the wine was terrible, will not be returning.

Got here late with a group. Great service and food. I'd highly recommend the hanger steak. I'd return

We were a large group and we were overcharged, they did not explain clearly the rules for a large group nor they explained how many dishes they were serving us. I only saw 4 burratas though they charged 6 (and similar with others), they were not able to offer an explanation. I would not go back.

We had a late lunch of a meat and cheese platter with a delicious baratta salad. A glass of red each was consumed, followed by cappuccino, gelato, and a on the House small glass of 10 year old tawny Port! Our waiter was excellent!

The space is fine in a typical, dimly lit way. The menu choices are limited. The portions are small to medium. The bill was too big for a good but not very good dinner experience.

25 minutes wait although we had booked
Bad Smelly room (moisture)
Very slow service
Imposed menu because we were 11
We ended up with 120 dollars per person for very ordinary food although 5 of us were kids
Worst restaurant expérience ever in NYC
They promised some kind of compensation and never sent anything.

My third time there, disappointed in the food—didn’t recollect such tiny portions and overpriced. Neither exciting nor enticing, probably won’t return for a fourth, sorry to say.

My group had our small holiday luncheon here and it was great starting from the food to the service. We were in the private area in the back that was beautifully set up and our server couldn't have been nicer and more helpful. All the dishes starting from the charcuterie/cheeses/dips to the spanish octopus plus the decadent deserts (Hazelnut cake). Highly recommend!

Uncertain if I'd recommend to friends. The food was delicious but the service was so poor it ruined the experience. We stood for 10 mins at 9PM with a reservation, staring at our empty table, then sat for another 10 mins without menus while servers and the hostess walked by multiple times. Once we got menus and a waiter, they acted like we barely existed. Had to flag them down for everything. Despite that, the food was great - highly recommend the octopus, the croquettes and the bolognese.

Waited almost 20 minutes when I had a reservation. Food was good but lacked flavor. Service was fine, apart from the hostess who was aloof and ignored her guests when they walked in. Good not great overall.
