Amalfi Ristorante Italiano & Bar
We love AMALFI, the food, the staff, the ambience.....Love Love Love it !!!!!!!!!
Great food and drinks! Highly recommend
This time was not as good as what I had about 6 months ago.
Food and wine were great!
Love the food and service was extraordinary
Great neighbourhood restaurant hidden in a strip mall, with complimentary valet parking. As it’s a small open restaurant with tables closely located, an open bar counter and pizza prep counter/oven on display, the noise level limited serious quiet conversation but its resulting high energy level was stimulating but still pleasant. Nice to see so many people enjoying their evenings. Lots of local guests. Well prepared, genuinely flavourful food, both pasta and meat dishes. Great bread sticks on table on arrival. Nice balanced wine list and menu including oven baked pizzas. Service staff very accommodating and interactive with dining guests (even a young child who was invited to prepare his own pizza at the counter, complete with apron, dough, sauce and cheese). Enjoyed a complimentary dessert as it was a birthday celebration. Female owner stopped to check in at all the tables throughout the evening. Truly a great dining experience. Felt we received great service, good value for the price of food and wine.
The appetizers were not great but the whole fish was good (but expensive)
As Italians living in Texas it is very rare that we select a so-called "Italian" restaurant because too often we have been disappointed. This was not the case of Amalfi: our son recommended us this restaurant as an excellent seafood restaurant and our feedback is extremely positive. Spaghetti alla chitarra con vongole e colatura di pesce were outstanding and the risotto with squid ink not less excellent (just a little comment: the two grilled scampi were good, but not needed with the risotto). Orata al sale was great too: we love that way to prepare the fish because it completely respects the true flavor of the fish and it allows you to appreciate its freshness (or discover the opposite...). Even the Insalata Amalfitana was flavorful. We closed with Pasticceria Amalfi and left for the end the small Baba: it was the only little disappointment (but my wife knows how to prepare a superb baba...). This detail doesn't change our overall complete satisfaction. By the way: great wine list, with a very interesting choice of Italian wines (as it should be for an Italian restaurant...), some of them very rare to be found in Texan restaurants. We should also mention the service: prompt, friendly in the right way, always ready around our table but never intrusive. Finally, the atmosphere was the one of an elegant Italian restaurant and we have seen that many of the customers were not there for the first time, creating a nice friendly environment. We plan to be there again to explore other parts of the menu :-)
The food was fantastic as the real Amalfi Coast's fresh seafood. We enjoyed the Mozzarella di bufala. The server was very attentive. Overall-excellent
Amalfi is the best Italian restaurant in Houston! Their servers are the best. Especially, Gianni.
Adrian always welcomes us warmly and knows exactly where we like to sit, what we drink, etc.
We also always enjoy visiting with the owner's wife, Lisa. She's the best and on top of everything!
Easily the best Italian in Houston. It has everything. Owned and operated by ever-present and accountable people who make you feel like family and you are eating in their home. It's a gem.
Quite loud since there is table next to table and very limited privacy. Everybody seems to be in a rush to get your table free again for the the next customers if you sit down at (or before) 7pm. Food tastes okay, however it’s nothing special (even if taking the special), therefore overpriced.
Haven’t eaten there in a while. Service and food quality has really improved. The Branzino was terrific.
My neighborhood gem. Nice ambiance, elegant decorations, good friendly staffs make the dining enjoyable. The food is more authentic Italian and makes you feel you are in Italy.
Great meal and wonderful service.
Very well prepared
Excellent bar and wine selection
Small enough to really take care of diners
Enjoyed every delicious bite and Matteo our server was amazing. Had the pleasure to speak Italian with him.
This was our 4th visit at Amalfi. Loved it every time.
Thank you for the wonderful service, food, and ambiance.
Great place for a meal! Excelent food! Nice ambience. Great service!
Great Italian food...like if I was in Italy...but service is not up to par and noise level is relatively high for such a restaurant
Very good food and service, especially considering the additional tables placed for Valentines Day.
Tables too close together, loud and terrible service.
excellent food, preparation and presentation! the live singer was a nice touch but not distracting. very full (Valentine's Day) but waitstaff was attentive, very friendly and accommodating. Will definitely return but probably not on a special occasion day
The food is, in a word, fantastic. The restaurant serves some of the best food, especially fish, in the city, without doubt. We've never had a miss on anything.
BUT...if you're looking to have a dinner and be able to carry on a conversation with friends (or even a single tablemate), don't go here, as this is one of the noisiest restaurants in the city. Personally, I wish they'd eliminate the singer (whose mic is turned way up), as his music causes people to almost have to yell to be heard.
Un lugar ideal para cualquier ocasión
Estuvo excelente la cena!!
We always enjoy the food and service. It was fully booked so noise level is high
Love the food and excellent service, but the restaurant is too cramped and noise level is beyond energetic.
This is our second time to Amalfi. We took our good friends there for dinner. The food is fantastic. Fresh and high quality. It was delicious. Service is excellent as well. Definitely recommend
This restaurant is outstanding! The food is authentic and delicious. Very good service and nice ambiance. I would keep the live music with no amplifiers, so the noise level would go down and be friendlier to the over 50 crowd. Thank you!
I need to remember to go to Amalfi more often. It was great service and food. I will go back and also want to try lunch there
Probably the best Italian restaurant in Houston
We love this place -- the team is so friendly, and the authentic Italian food and wine are delicious!
Great place, good food that is consistent and true to form. If you like Truffles, indeed I do then this is your Taste of Italian.
Service was good, considering how packed it was.
Love this restaurant. The lamb chops were outstanding - the best i have ever eaten!
The food snd service were wonderful as always. A little pricey
Love Amalfi for lunch with my women friends and finally convinced my husband to join me there for lunch. He loved the food and the excellent service, so now we want to try it for dinner!! Highly recommend!!
This culinary gem of a place is usually perfect and we love seeing people enjoy themselves in the charming surroundings hosted by Chef Giancarlo and his beautiful wife, Lisa. But a large group of celebrating women got so loud we had to move to be able to converse. And the singing guitar player never took a break during the 2 + hours we were there so we had to talk over him as well. On the plus side was the reliably delicious food that our out of town guests enjoyed as much as we always do. In the future, we'll dine here much earlier than we normally do so we'll have nothing to complain about!
Absolutely love this restaurant. Only issue the other day occurred when we tried to pay cash, the server could not make change and said the manager was the only one who can open the cash register but he was not on sight. He managed to get cash from another server to make change for us. Aside from that, everything was excellent.
