Four of us met there for lunch. The Express Lunch is a great deal. Sandwiches - which are big and arrive on a great roll - come with French Fries. The fries are less than wonderful.

At lunch this restaurant is quiet. We had a good time.

Took the overseas CEO for a nice meal and he found it to be one the better restaurants he has visited in the US, let alone Philly. Great food, try the chef's tasting - no disappointments.

Great place to sample many different dishes, especially if you go with the chef's tasting menu. Food was awesome. You also have the option to do a wine pairing if that's your thing. Noise level in main dining area is loud - if you want a quieter place ask to be seated in the back area which is what we did and it was noticeably quieter.

The service and food was great. Everything is meant to be shared which is nice. The portions aren't big but they are good.

I love Garces restaurants and have not been to Amada in years. I thought the food was mediocre at best, very surprised as his other restaurants are fantastic.

I have been going to Amanda for many years and during this visit I saw clearly a decline in the amount of food compared to the cost. The portions are smaller ( didn't know that was possible) and the prices the same or higher in some cases. They would bring your receipt in a book with a cookie that practice is gone so are the nice napkins in the bathroom. I guess it's a sign of the times but I am not willi g to spend that much for so little. There are way to many other places to eat.

Always perfect from start to finish!!!! My husband and I love dining at Amada!!! We always start out at the bar with an amazing cocktail from Zane, and the cheese plate. Zane makes the best drinks!!! Amada also has the best sangria in Philly!! Sat down for dinner, and we always request Edward, our favorite server at Amada. Edward rocks!!! He picked out some nice Spanish red wines for me to taste. Very attentive to everything. Food is always delicious. We always order the chicken breast with the egg, mushroom flatbread, chickpeas with spinach....... We order a lot of food, and everything was great. Chris, the general manager, always greets us to make sure that our dinner is perfect every time. Can't wait to come back.

Really lovely dinner. Service was friendly - a bit off and on as the staff got busy but ok on the whole. The food was very very good. Delicious croquettas jamon and serrano and fig salad. Very tasty asparagus and roast pork with beans. Calamari was the only dish I'd label as "forgettable". Overall very tasty food, great atmosphere and friendly service.

Met friends for brunch, quiet atmosphere and heavenly food. Serrano ham, spicy mustard and cornichons with bread. If you get the brunch bread basket make sure you have some of the ham with the fig jam. Yum! Then soft scrambled eggs with shrimp, bacon and black truffle toast. Our server Amalia went above and beyond for us, she was fantastic. Will definitely come back for brunch, it is a hidden gem I have discovered.

When out for a special evening with my girlfriend. Have been to other resturants by the same Iron Chef owner. This may have been my favorite. We did the special dinning left to the chef's discretion, with wine pairing. Almost too much food.

Disappointing dinner
My wife and I enjoyed Garces Group restaurants in the past and renewed our acquaintance with Amada last night after some years. We were looking forward to dinner at a top ten Philly restaurant. It didn't measure up to the billing.
We tried several wines, starting with the Tinto Toro, which was not flavorful, less than medium body. We moved onto the Garnacha Syrah, not full body, smooth but not fruit forward, settling on a Garnacha, which was ok in flavor. I expected a Spanish Rhone-style wine to be medium to full body and fruity, which they weren't.
I started with the patatas bravas that didn't seem to blend flavors together well, just potatoes covered with seasoning and cheese on top. Followed with pimientos de Padron which was good, and a main dish of cordero con guisantes. The lamb seem dry and overcooked, the green garbanzo beans were very salty, looked like peas, and the avgolemono was ok, but sparse. I know it was a tapas dish, but a dollop of sauce? My wife had alcachofas a la parmesana, pulpo a la gallega which was salty, and the gambas al agillo. Overall, she thought her meal was just ok, not particularly flavorful or special.
The tarta de chocolate was a total failure, hardly chocolaty at all, hard, and may not have been mixed together well. I found a Crisco-like taste and color in one bite.
The service was great, friendly, prompt and polite.
Overall, the meal was an expensive disappointment. Bad night?

My first experience at Amada was amazing. Dined in for my girlfriend's birthday and they made it special. We opted for the chef tasting menu. Staff were super accomadating as I am a pescetarian and my girlfriend eats all things. We were offered dishes that suited us both. Seabass and truffled mushroom flatbread were outstanding. We also did a wine tasting which was perfect. Miguel our wait staff was wonderful. He was acknowledgable and friendly. He assured we were well taken care of without being overbearing.

I'd recommend Amada to anyone, especially fellow foodies.

I am not from the area, so as soon as I knew that I would be in the Philadelphia area, I made a reservation. I LOVE this restaurant. The food is so incredible. This time I was particularly impressed because my coworker is celiac and cannot have anything that contains or even comes into contact with gluten. It appeared that our waiter had educated all of the food runners. They were so accommodating and made sure that we knew exactly what she could eat. And she had many options!

food was so-so and underwhelmed by experience. had not been i na while but had an out of town guest who wanted to try after some recommendations. my chief complaint is how the restaurant tries to squeeze 3 patrons into a two-top. They refused to seat us elsewhere. Painful reminder to always a reserve a table for 4. So many other great options in philly... this is an aging tourist/corporate formula that needs to be retired.

Went there with my fiancé for a late dinner. It was our first time there. The place was very crowded. We got there approximately 15 min before our reservation and we were seated within 10 minutes. Our waiter did a great job explaining the menu and providing us with his recommendations. The food was amazing! It’s a tapas bar so you will need at least 3 plates per person. We were satisfied after our meal, but we were not uncomfortably full. I definitely will be going back again!

To start, Amada has been my wife’s birthday tradition for the past few years. We love the food and the atmosphere and it has been her favorite restaurant to eat at in Philadelphia for the last five years. She loves to take our friends and family from out of town every time they visit, and her and I frequent Amada as often as we can.

However, the last two times we have been to Amada, we did not enjoy ourselves as much as we usually do.

As mentioned, we had dinner at Amada last Saturday (10/21) as tradition. We
look forward to it all year. Regarding our dinner, there were several things that made our experience subpar. There were a couple of mixups with dinner including receiving tapas that were not what we had ordered. The food was not nearly as good as it was the last two times. Most of the dishes were either over or under seasoned. We had ordered the pig which we had LOVED, but the quality of meat and flavor this time was not very good, and not even close to the last time we had it. It seemed as if the service and the kitchen were off their game. Overall not a great night.

Saturday’s dinner was actually the second negative experience at Amada. My mother and I visited Amada this summer when she was here from out of town. We were really looking forward to going since she had been there previous for dinner and enjoyed the food immensely. Our experience this summer was also very negative; the kitchen staff seemed off as did the servers, and the food was either under or over seasoned. There were some mixups with our dishes as well.

I am reaching out to let you know because as mentioned, Amada is one of my favorite restaurants. I just wanted to make you aware of the last two dining experiences I had there.

I am glad we had a gift certificate, because I don't get it. The tapas were simple items and none of them were very special. The only stand out was the flat breads. The garlic shrimp -- was just garlic shrimp. The pork was all fat and bland. The wagyu beef was inedible with an odd, smoky sauce. The sauce for the garlic chips was the tuna fish and mayo my mom used to make, and this is not a compliment. The staff were fine, but not all that helpful. The restaurant is so dark that it is impossible to read the menu, and the menu lacks description. Very pricey for a very average food.
