We had brunch on Sunday morning. Absolutely delicious. Highly recommend. Service and food was excellent.
My BF and I are long-time fans of Amada, and of Jose Garces’ restaurants—Amada and Village Whiskey in particular. We visited Amada again recently for our anniversary. As usual, the food was exquisite. Honestly, one of my favorite things is the complimentary tuna dip. We are huge fans of the charcuterie and cheese mixtos, and never visit without ordering them. Patatas bravas, shortrib flatbread, ham croquettes and queso de cabra are also favorites. I cannot live without the fairly new egg cream for dessert. I miss the complimentary almond cookie they used to serve terribly. However, as much as we always love the food, the last few times we have visited, the service seemed to be changed. Amada used to have an absolute ballet of service—basically two plates at a time, so you can relax and enjoy, and then two new plates as you are finishing the first. It was luxurious and conducive to enjoyable conversation. Perfect, really. The last three visits however, we have been inundated by multiple plates at a time. We have felt terribly rushed, and have had food getting cold on the table as we rush to try to eat everything. Recently we had so much food on the table at once, we had a hard time finding a place for our drinks. This most recent visit, we got our cheese mixto, but not the charcuterie mixto, and two other plates along with the cheese. We got our tuna dip mid-way through the meal. I don’t mind paying good money for a good meal, but I’d like a good experience to go with it. I don’t want to feel like they’re just rushing to turn our table over to a new patron.
When you walk into "Iron Chef" restaurant - you anticipate nothing but the best. Although this restaurant has rather casual atmosphere and rustic décor - the food is amazing. Tapas were delicious and authentic, offered with house Rioja wine made our meal a delightful experience. Portions are small but flavors and presentations made it a very satisfying. Service was prompt and professional. Everything on the menu is a la carte, so be prepared to spend some $; however - we felt that the visit was absolutely worth it. We will return!
Wonderful food and experience! Will definitely try again!
Fun evening for friends trying the tasting menu. The meal was an adventure and was very entertaining and delicious.
Amada has great food. I mean really great! The tapas are all terrific, with interesting combinations of foods and flavors and exciting bursts of taste. We had the chef's selection of tapas and only the chicken on skewers feel below "Wow!"
Unfortunately our tapas came out so fast and furiously, that we were overwhelmed. In one hour we were seated, mulled over the menu, chose the chef's tasting menu and had four courses delivered to our table. Our desserts were delivered consumed before our wait person had time to ask if we wanted coffee to go with them. We asked repeatedly to, "Slow it down." Finally, they took a little time in between bringing us some items in our third course. This speed was unfortunate because everything was so delicious, and we never got the time to fully enjoy the great food that was prepared for us.
One of the very best we have been to in the city. In one word.......Wow!!!
Great food, great service. They give you so much - hate wasting food!
Excellent food & seevice
Not allowing the full menu at 2 pm is odd.
Consistently great, fairly priced, broad choice of menu options. I go here with "grown-up" friends and take my daughters (aged 8, 10) for a happy and interesting brunch. Everyone's happy in both instances.
We loved our service. Karey was our server and she was attentive and spaced our meal out. We did not feel rushed. She was knowledgable about our food choices. We always love to try one new thing each time we come. The scallops were superb. We also liked sitting in the back of the restaurant. It was quieter and more romantic. We also would like to thank the chef for our complimentary manchego cheese and lavender honey. They were delicious and a nice addition to our dinner choices. We always feel special returning to Amada. You always appreciate our return business and we will continue to come back for this reason as well as the excellent food and service.
Good food at amada. Had a hard time getting there with construction from the fire.
Solid food, don’t know if the quality is worth the quantity and price but overall a good experience.
Everything was delicious, service was perfect. Love Amada!
We had a fun and relaxing dinner.
The food was fabulous and service great.
I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Brunch was absolutely delicious! We loved everything we ordered. And the staff is amazing as well. They couldn’t have been friendlier or more attentive. Will definitely go back!
Outstanding experience. Amazing food!
My family and cousin, five of us, dined at Amada. Tapas was excellent and great fun sharing plates, trying different dishes and great conversation. Fantastic place to sit, chat, eat and drink. Would recommend the garlic shrimp, crab stuffed peppers, braised short rib flat bread and scallops. Mixed olives and spicy potatoes were very good as well. Wonderful meal, well paced and just great food with fun conversation.
Everything was great, but the restaurant was incredibly dark. We had trouble reading the menu and seeing the beautiful food without our cell phone flashlights.
Food was good, but not amazing as everyone who recommended it told us it would be. Hope other people have a better culinary experience.
Everything was incredible! From the food to the service to the atmosphere.
Great food and service
Fantastic food and service. A great place for my team to unwind after a long day traveling.
Second time to Amada and we went with the Chef Menu which is fantastic if you can't decide what to order and a really good value for the price.
Just one thing that kind of killed it for me was the salt level of all of the food. I love salt, but it was a bit over the top and it was too much in each dish we were served.
Hard to say if it was just a one off night for the kitchen or not... food is good, hearty, and authentic.
Service was fine.
Excellent, unusual, delicious food. We did the Sunday brunch. Truffle lavender honey?! Wow. Stone fruit syrup. Amazing. Everything was just different enough without being too far out there. We'll be back.
Went for tapas instead of a traditional dinner. Good to great items. Really loved the pata Negra, lomo was like a good steak however a red but to salty for me, the octopus was tasty, and the grilled chorizo was really good.
Overall, Amada was a good experience. The waitstaff was really good and very helpful.
A great tapas spot in Philly. Service is friendly. Excellent selection of tapas. Would recommend trying the paella.
Always a fantastic meal with great service!! That’s why we keep going back!!
Amada is always amazing! It has always been a great experience every time we go! The servers are always polite and very knowledgeable. La comida es riquísima!
Had reservations for 8:00 and was seated promptly however we waited about 8-10 mins before someone walked by and offered us water. Around the 15 min. mark, we began to wonder who our waiter/waitress was and it turned out to be the woman who offered us the water. She had not introduced herself. Once she took our orders, she was more attentive to our table. We had the garlic shrimp, crab stuffed peppers and lobster paella. Each dish was simply divine. Additionally we ordered one round of drinks and dessert.
My wife and I had lunch here several years ago and had dinner the other night. Everything was fantastic - distinct and varied flavors. We had 5 tapas plates between us, and it was plenty. A younger and/or larger couple might have 1-2 more dishes.
Amada has outstanding food. The tapas meals are very appealing to all food groups. The lunch portions are large compared to some restuarants as well for the price.
Although we've walked past Amada many times we never really noticed it - so glad we found it online and decided to give it a try. We went before the theatre which sadly limited the time we had to really enjoy the food. Could have spent three hours easy enjoying the menu!
Our reservation was for 10:15, but we arrived an hour early and they were able to seat us overlooking the kitchen prep area. Nice! Server had casual manner and was attentive. Tapas arrived quickly after ordering, and they all hit the spot. A complimentary braised shortrib flatbread arrived mid-meal. We had ordered this as well, but luckily it was our favorite dish so we were stoked to see another . The octopus (pulpo) was excellent, if not a little too salty for my taste. Total bill was under $100 for six tapas, 2 drinks, and dessert, which is a fairly decent value considering you are in Old City. We would return again.
Amada is one of my favorite restaurants in Philly. Have yet to have a bad dish there!
The tapas were good at Amada. The cocktails were also good.
