The food is creative, fresh, and mouthwatering Lee delicious. And the service was friendly and pleasant without being intrusive in any way.

Amada is nothing what it used to be. The food was ok. Sangria is still the best around if you like spice and orange up front.

Amada is a great tapas restaurant with a fine selection of small plates in various food groups. We shared some and ordered a few just for one of us. Standouts included albondigas - lamb meatballs - serrano ham, and seared scallops. Even the olives were special. Check out the gin and tonic selection!
The food was wonderful, however the service was sub par. Our waitress was very kind and efficient at the beginning, but basically disappeared halfway through our meal. Whenever we flagged someone down to order, they told us they would go get our server, but she never showed up. We waited more than 20 minutes to get someone to take our order, and by the time someone came over we were told that the kitchen was closing in 5 minutes. When we got our check, the host told us that they will serve us free dessert for our patience, but we saw in the check that we were charged for the dessert so we had to ask to remove it (luckily we checked). When we tried to call the host over, she looked at us three times but did not come over to help.
We ordered the $75 chef’s table (with “1.5”vegetarians). Our table was quiet at the back of the restaurant; with floor-ceiling curtains providing even more privacy. It felt like a private room. The service was outstanding. The chef provided an amazing variety and quantity of delicious dishes. It is absolutely one of Philly’s best deals. The service was a bit faster than we’re accustomed to with Garces. Wasn’t sure if it was the new COVID time limits. although we didn’t think we could possibly eat dessert, we finished it without problem. The chocolate dessert was rich but surprisingly light and provided the perfect end to the chef’s table. Can’t wait to return!
One of the best tapas restaurants in the country!
We sat outside so we just had the noise of the Philadelphia streets but other than that this is still one of my favorite places to wat. They had a special seafood Paella which did not disappoint.
Wonderful food. Fantastic dining experience. Everyone was wearing a mask and the layout of the restaurant was thoughtful and intentional.
I had always wanted to try a Jose Garces restaurant. This did not disappoint. Service was excellent, the tapas was outstanding and the atmosphere was divine.
I’m always annoyed when I’m forced to order off the brunch menu at 3 PM. That being said, the food was amazing. The ambiance suffers during the day when the lighting is too bright and there is not a lot of decor. The service was a lowlight of the afternoon-just not up to the high standards I expect from a place like Amada. From forgetting my drink order and having to come back to ask me what it was, to trying to squeeze a plate onto our tiny table while 3 dirty plates were present, to bringing the wrong check at the end of our meal-I was fed up with the service.
Brunch was great value for excellent food. Appetizers and sides included in brunch special. All yummy and perfectly done. Looking forward to returning for dinner!
hmmm patatas is supposed to be more delicious. I don't like the innovation.
The pulpo was SUCH a disappointment... Quarter-sized slices, served on a circular wooden plank, mixed in with similar-sized potato bits: all combined for a mediocre taste experience.
The thinly sliced chorizo, 9 see-through slivers, were served with two dry thin slices of bread.
The manchego app was so disproportionate, that the microscopic shred of the cheese got lost on the thin oval piece of bread, and overpowered by the apple slices.
Patatas bravas’ presentation was lovely, but the bland taste left a lot to be desired: there wasn’t a whiff of anything remotely spicy (or tasty).
The crab-stuffed peppers were all mush - no texture profile, just mush: I thought it was all cheese. Until the waitress said it was stuffed with crab… And I just wondered where there was crab.
Disappointing, disillusioning, disenchanting, regretful - and I was so looking forward to an incredible gastronomic experience. Alas ....
10/10 recommend. Amazing ambiance & food.
We need more Spanish restaurants in Philadelphia, and with the demise of Jamonera, Amada is easily the best. They do need to slow down the delivery of the food, so you can better enjoy it though. Even when we specifically asked, they food came out too much all at once.

I love the place, a little disappointed that the cook was eating while preparing customers food. But overall very pleasurable.
Went during restaurant week. The menu had so many options. The small plates were delicious and filling. The rear seating had curtains in between tables. Felt private and romantic. The hubby wants to return next week! Can’t wait to go back!
It was busy in the beginning, it took a while to sit even with a reservation and we were in the corner where our server didn’t know where we were. Once that was straightened out, he apologized and we had really great food! The tapas were super tasty!
I am part Spaniard and -therefore perhaps- my expectations are higher than most. I was there for restaurant week. I had the garlic shrimp (camarones al ajillo), the piquillos de cangrejo, and the chicken sandwich. The garlic shrimp and the sandwich were quite delicious. However, the crabmeat piquillos were "meh". As it's said: "2 outta 3 ain't bad"
Very good in all ways, food, service, etc. Will go again with friends. Restaurant week introduced me to a new place.

Amada is a gourmet tapas restaurant but I want to talk about their vermouth. I was hooked on Spanish vermouth when I visited Madrid. But you can't get Spanish vermouth in Philadelphia/Pennsylvania except at Garces restaurants. Amada has three white and three red vermouths. I tried the three reds and I love them all. They still have the bold flavor of local and Italian vermouths but without the harshness and excessive sweetness. I drink it neat. But if ou have it in a cocktail I suggest vermouth forward with a less flavorful liquor.
Authentic Spanish flavors that delighted my taste buds! I will visit again.
I went to Amada for center city restaurant week this time with a group of 6. It was an excellent experience as always. We were seated at a nice sized table with a large window which was greatly appreciated. The food was excellent. Our only mild disappointment was that additional items from the standard menu were not available. Additionally our drinks did take a while to come out. The food, however, came flying out of the kitchen -- in a good way! Thanks as always for the great experience!

First of all let me begin by saying that Joseph Quintela is a fabulous manager. We have had a few interactions with him now and not only is he personable, approachable and helpful, but also kind and caring. He even took a moment to call us with Restaurant Week information that we might have overlooked.
As far as the food quality. It's good, but having eaten at AMADA over many, many years, I can say that consistency can be an issue. Our favorite restaurant has also started to show her age. Covid lockdown was a great opportunity for a major face lift, but Philly dropped the ball with the restaurant restrictions. Jose also continues his financial woes so...
Our server was very attentive and helpful. Food arrived very fast. As always my issue is that tapas consumption is meant to be a slow, social experience. If you want to have a truly Spanish like experience do not order all at once. Pace yourself and the kitchen not the other way around. Just tip well since the table turnover won't be as efficient for the servers. Enjoy one of the best restaurants in the city even after all these years!

This was my 1st dine in experience since the pandemic. I was part of a party of five and we were seated in a cozy, abundant area with a large window away from other guests, as promised. I noticed there were plexiglass partitions between seated areas. We were there during restaurant week so the menu was fixed. Regardless, the food was amazing. I am still savoring the taste of the lamb meatballs a day later. The mixed green salad so very fresh. The cheese cake another favorite!!!! Definitely worth a try!
