Amada PHL Ratings and Reviews
Overall just a fantastic experience. The quality of the food was outstanding and simply delicious. The selection of tapas was broad and diverse crossing meats, seafood and vegetables. The lamb chops were incredible along with the shrimp & garlic dish. The wine selection was deep but reasonable in price. Our server, Miguel, was delightful and knowledgeable. The ambiance was not too loud so I could hold a conversation without raising my voice. The final bill was expensive but justifiable by the quality of the food and service.
We came to celebrate my husband’s birthday and preordered half roasted pig for the occasion . I have not tasted everything because I Don’t eat meat but everyone else loved the pig and paella and many other small plates that we had. As a vegetarian i found plenty of options on the menu. We will be back, I wish it was easier to get a table here.
Was in Philly for a conference and had heard about the place as I have been trying to eat at several Iron Chef's restaurants around the country. I also had friends who had been here and recommended I put it on my list. We selected the chef's tasting menu. I was impressed with the wide array of options that were brought to us. The service was fast...in fact a bit rushed to the point where I had to ask them to pace things out a bit slower. I was also disappointed by the wait staff who were providing descriptions of the many courses with rapid fire speed. In this very loud restaurant I had to repeatedly ask them to slow down and describe a second time what they were giving us. They seemed annoyed that we asked them to repeat the descriptions. This area of service must be improved as it impacted my rating of service and overall enjoyment. Just a few night prior I dined at another Iron Chef's restaurant in Philly and did the chef's tasting menu. The wait staff there took time to explain the dishes and seemed happy to answer any questions we had. A much better "service" experience. Overall the food was tasty. My favorites were the chicken with egg and truffles. The fish dish and the fried Quinoa salad. The dessert pastry tasted slightly scorched/bitter and the little hazelnut sweets served with the final bill were chewy, but not in the best way. When ordering a tasting menu I think it's important that the final course/dessert be amazing to leave the diner with a great feeling. Sadly this wasn't the case on the night we dined. I would recommend diners opt out of the tasting menu and make their own selections.
This place is the best I’ve found for a great value steak. I get a 28 day dry aged steak rib-eye. It’s $75 but feeds two people no problem. So it keeps bill down. You don’t need to get apps since this steak is very filling. It has potatoes and onions under the steak with the sauce. It’s one of the beat steaks I had around. Ask for it the way they prepare it normally which is medium rare. The only thing is that it takes 45 minutes to prepare. So have some drinks and enjoy the nice atmosphere. I’ve been coming here for the last five years celebrating our anniversary and engagement with my wife. They make it very special for us every time. Love the staff.
They have a bacon wrapped date app that is very good. And also the ham croquettes are very good too.
We went here for my girlfriends birthday and had an amazing time. We started with a cheese plate and beef short rib flatbread, followed by wagyu short tips, sea bass and lamb meatball. The Sangria was great and they paced the meal very nicely. Small plates in the tapas style but by the end we were stuffed, food was creative and very, very good. Decor was very cool inside, lots of candle lanterns and a nice ambiance for conversation without being too quiet. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great Spanish style meal, especially with friends as sharing many small plates is always fun
I have been waiting to go to this restaurant for almost a year! Went to Spain last year and loved the idea of the tapas!! The ambience was vibrant and energetic. My date and I got there a little early and decided to head to the bar to grab a quick drink. The bar was full and lively! It took a few minutes to get the bartenders attention which is understandable but he dropped off a menu and never returned. I tried to get the other bartenders attention but my date and I stood there for a few more minutes and just decided to wait until we got to our table.
The server was very friendly and the food was wonderful. Everything came out in a nice even flow and we got to enjoy all of the wonderful flavors Amada had to offer!
If you are trying to have an intimate date this is the wrong place to go only because the noise level is extremely high and the layout is meant more for a group of friends than an intimate date. My date and I also were placed in between two tables that sat two couples who's conversation over poured into our own conversation.
Overall this place was a great spot to hangout, try new foods and get a chance to indulge in wonderful food Philadelphia has to offer!
Wonderful way to celebrate my wife's birthday with the tasting menu at Amada. This is an elite Spanish tapas restaurant in a city known for great restaurants. Would absolutely recommend to anyone who enjoys sampling several different types of exceptionally prepared food.
Service was wonderful!! Brunch menu was diverse, and the food was amazing! Portions were much bigger than what we had imagined. This made the brunch menu price a bargain. Would have been happy to pay $10 extra for the sized portions. $5 Cava or Sangria was a bargain as well.
Will highly recommend, and will return!
The food was outstanding, just make sure to order enough! The service on the other hand was terrible. The server decided to call out each item we ordered, which was pretty weird. I would expect that at Chili's, not a high end restaurant. Even after calling out the items we didn't receive two of our orders. When we mentioned this to her it was sufficiently awkward. She kept stating, "I don't have that on my list," and tried to show us her itemized list. She basically made it as if it was our fault. Super inappropriate and awkward.
As long as you get a good server you'll love your experience.
Great service. Started off with fresh bread with tuna spread that was unreal. Short rib flat bread was totally amazing. The chicken skewers were a home run. Lamb meatballs very solid and ham crocquettes totally as good as advertised. Only let down was spicy potatoes which we didnt care for. I would recommend you leave room for their $8 ice cream sunday
We loved it! Every dish was amazing with an interesting twist. We were there for brunch. The Sangria Pancakes were light and delicious. We ended up battling over the avocado, tomato escabeche and pistachio on bread!
The only thing that could have been improved upon was the service. It was pretty slow and our dishes weren't served together.
Still, we will definitely be back!
Everything was great including our server Julien, but we were put in the back room and it was just too dark. I could not see what I was eating although it all was delicious. Maybe put individual lights on the table so you have the option for more light if you want it.
Great place to sample many different dishes, especially if you go with the chef's tasting menu. Food was awesome. You also have the option to do a wine pairing if that's your thing. Noise level in main dining area is loud - if you want a quieter place ask to be seated in the back area which is what we did and it was noticeably quieter.
This review is for brunch. Service and ambiance were good, but we were underwhelmed by the flavors of a few dishes and overall value (e.g., a small coffee with steamed milk was just shy of eight--a surprise at the end of our meal). The crab hollandaise was outstanding though, and I'm willing to give Amada another try for dinner.
