Ama Ristorante at the Driftwood Ratings and Reviews
Our dining experience was terrific, made memorable by delicious appetizers and fish (truffle whipped potatoes were decadent). Our waiter was professional courteous and offered quick steady service and was able to accommodate our special requests. The dining atmosphere is enjoyable- I look forward to visiting again earlier to catch the gorgeous sunset views.
The valet parking is a real plus .
The food was amazing! I ordered the NY Strip and it was one of the best steaks I've ever had. My girlfriend also got a steak and both of us were very satisfied. Our waiter was a great guy, funny and also just all around a great waiter. We went with the cheesecake balls which were also incredible. Definitely worth the money for a special occasion like Valentines day, anniversary or date.
Food was Excellent; my companion and I had veal dishes - delicious. Service was attentive, not overbearing. Drinks were expensive, good, but not great - bartender(s) need further training. I would definitely recommend the food, but be prepared to pay top dollar.
This was our first time at AMA. Our expectations were high based on recommendations from friends . overall, we were disappointed. We had reviewed the menu online and were surprised to find that several of the “ more interesting “dishes were not on the menu when we arrived . I had the meatball appetizer which was just ok. The Branzino was very good . The others in our party both had mussels which were “average” and scallops with risotto. The scallops were fine but the risotto was “mushy” and neither ate it . After a disappointing main course we skipped dessert. At the end of the meal our waitress, who was very friendly, informed us that AMA was closing and was to become a steak house in the near future.
This is my go to restaurant... Food is consistent. Service is always good. I like the Sunday special byob. I was there for early dinner with my boyfriend New Years Eve. I was pleasantly surprised! No set menu and we were not rushed out! We had a delicious, peaceful, evening.....
Valet parking was nice but all down hill from beginning to end. The bread, was okay after we figured out how to make our own olive oil dip. The entrees were fish and Pasta. The fish was dry and the pasta was bland. It was extremely noisy and expensive. We won’t be back.
We were looking forward to spending a quiet birthday dinner with family . We thought we were at TGI Fridays with $42 filet mignon. The table next to us was so loud we could not even hear the waiter tell us the specials . The waitress asked them to quiet down , however, they were so rude They got louder. Then my husband ordered a martini that had a hair in it ..We were about ready to not even finish dinner and leave , the waiter finally told the manager who moved us for dessert in a different quiet room . At least we had 20 minutes of quiet , where we could talk and enjoy each other's company.
We thought we would try a restaurant we didn't know for Jersey Shore restaurant week. Ama was a lovely surprise. food was very good and plentiful - obviously no minimizing to accommodate restaurant week prices. Service was also excellent. A good experience overall.
We went there for restaurant week and can you believe that they 'ran out of bread'...what Italian restaurant do you know runs out of a staple food...that's like a Mexican restaurant running out of tortillas..was dissatisfied with service and final bill (still pricey even with restaurant week) not worth it.
Ama serves consistently delicious food , and the servers are professional, knowledgeable and friendly. Dined with friends, appetizers arrived in a timely manner, caprese salad was fresh , buffalo mozzarella very creamy, tricolore salad balanced with the right amount of baby arugula, endive and radicchio. Also enjoyed Salmon, Branzino and Ribeye entrees. All were cooked perfectly . Dessert did not disappoint either. From cheesecake to gelato all very yummy.
Was very disappointed this time around as it was very loud. My date also was disappointed as well as there were no lights lighting up the beach to the shoreline, something that I have seen before. And there were small children near us that were unruly and the parents didn't seem to care. I will not be back anytime soon. :(
This restaurant never fails to disappoint. From the friendly host staff to the professional waiters - this place is tops. You can't beat the view overlooking the ocean, yet the dining room is stately and sophisticated. Excellent fresh fish & delectable meats will make any dining experience one to remember.
