Good Place to get good meet and great wine menu. Everything a few steps away from the Moscone center
Exceptional beef dishes and solid all around. Wouldn't hesitate to go back.
Great Food, Excellent Service, and very accessible friendly for customers in wheelchairs. Good place to celebrate a birthday, anniversary or other special occasions.
Extremely overpriced food with an entire section of the menu devoted to “American wagyu.” If your going to spend this much go somewhere else.
Service is nothing like Alexander’s, where it is top notch. Menu is devoid of standard steakhouse cuts. For example, there is one filet dish but the only ribeye is a two person $99 steak.
I won’t be going back. I give them six months. Place was empty on a Friday night at 8pm.
We had a great business dinner at ALX - the food was very good and the service exceptional. Especially the sommelier was very helpful and accommodating. My only wish was that there were more choices for wine under $100. I chose a lovely bottle at $125 but it was sticker shock for my boss who picked up the tab :-( I ended up paying for the wine myself.
Excellent beef brisket and hamburger. We also found the service very friendly and professional.
After finding the front door.... Wow loved the drinks..food was outstanding. Waiter was fabulous. Very knowledgeable about the menu. Will definitely be back
After getting confused and going to their parent restaurant we made our way a half mile walk to ALX. I would call it the step child. The ambience was sterile. The staff below average. While my prime rib was actually amazing and one of the best I have ever had, others entrees were mediocre at best. The staff service didnt match the meal price either. Overall I will not be going back.
Our server was very attentive. The food was good, as were the cocktails. We’ll be back.
Steak was great but overpriced imo. It’s very small and expensive
Wonderful! One of the best steaks I’ve ever had in my life!
From a shear enjoyment perspective, this was the best meal I’ve had all week. Steak was excellent, and the tots were unique without being pretentious. Great selection of exclusive cocktails as well.
Had a spur-of-the-moment dinner after our show at Moscone. We were fortunate to get a reservation! The food was amazing and I had a Twin Peaks Cocktail at the recommendation of our server - Japanese whiskey with egg white - fabulous! Definitely a must have!
Not memorable, food was ok, service was ok, ambiance was ok...
Waiter was awkward and did not know the menu. The place was freezing the entire meal. Food got cold so fast.
Service was okay but the food was not good.
This was our 3rd visit to an Alexander’s restaurant, and our first visit to this specific one. The food was everything I have come to expect and is why I love their brand. All of the staff we encountered were nice and attentive
Service was a bit unorganized... more than one person attended to our table and wasn’t aware of what the other had done. That said, everyone was very nice and the overall service was good.
What a disappointment. While in town for a conference, I reserved this restaurant to host an important business meal due to its convenient location very close to Moscone Center. We ended up waiting over an hour for our food only to receive very expensive steaks and main dishes that were cold. The manager was apologetic and comped our meal. However, I left feeling embarrassed over the whole situation.
The food was really Good and Perfect to share. The service was also really good.
Extremely slow service. Took 3 hours from start to finish.
Food & service were great. The restaurant was pretty empty for a Thursday night. They brought us complimentary champagne & ice cream with a candle for my boyfriend’s birthday. Very nice!
I was actually excited to try this place out as a few teams from our office had been here. In all, we were disappointed on the price point to the portion size of the food, even for a lunch we were still left hungry!
Food is very delicious, I love duroc sticky pork ribs, olivier butchery burger, and green flatbread, plus there are some very nice local crafted beers. It is contemporary, modern, and relaxing, a great place for dinner and lunch with family and friends.
The staff was nice but kitchen and bar were super slow. Some of the food was over seasoned(like the ribs) and others were under seasoned(the ribeye). The steak tasted like it was cooked on a griddle. Wasn't seared at all and the thinnest ribeye I've ever had in a proper restaurant. Also, didn't seem like it was a prime cut. Not well marbled, too many fatty areas to be prime. The foie gras burger was good, but better be for $44. Desert was OK, we had the chocolate cake.
Unfortunately, this will be our last visit to your establishment. Each time we’ve visited, the service seems to decline. Service was not only slow, but all people serving us appeared to be confused. Our orders were incorrectly taken, items that were on the menu were not available, the staff brought orders that weren’t even ours, the wait was long, and the food was unimpressive. Your restaurant has true promise, but for the price, it’s not worth the aggravation and disappointment. This is truly a loss as we are employees in the building and were initially excited to have a new restaurant on premises, but unfortunately, we’ll be looking for an alternative dining experience.
Bland atmosphere, limited tap selection for a "Gastropub".
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We appreciate all feedback, good and bad. While our taps are fewer than other gastropubs, we still have an extensive list of 40+ local beers that includes a vast variety of styles and characteristics.
Food was great, a limited menu not many mid price options.
We're big fans of Alexander Steak House. When we heard their offshoot ALX Gastropub was opening we went there on our next trip to SF. We were not disappointed! The food was spectacular. The service was perfect. The decor was modern and light. We were happy to be there and left discussing when we could come back.
Still working out issues with service, etc., but it has potential
Service was SUPER slow and our waiter seemed very confused and served other tables before us even though we ordered the same things before them!
The corn dogs lacked flavor, the nuts were tasteless, the so called Rib Eye steak costs $54 dollars and had to be sent back twice. The waiter walked away from the table while we were in the middle of ordering dessert. I think the Chef totally missed the boat on concept and execution. With all the fabulous restaurant choices in San Francisco, this one doesn't even come close.
Everything was amazing! Great experience!
The service was absolutely horrible. Took forever to get our drinks. One person in our group of 6 got their drink quickly, then the rest of us didn't get ours until we were halfway through our meal. Five people got their entrees around the same time, but the last person had to wait another 20 minute. They initially brought us an extra burger, so I seemed like they got the order wrong. Would have been a great experience if the service was good, but it was sooo bad.
Made reservations and table was ready when we arrived.
Drinks were ok:
I had a specialty drink with Vodka with some spicy pepper. Barely any spice. The others had a margarita, mojito and Moscow mule (brother said it was too gingery)
Had the buffalo wings (with fish sauce) and they were pretty good.
Also ordered the seafood platter. Good shrimp and crab meat. Oysters were really tiny.
Pork Porterhouse was really good. Had plenty of flavor and was cooked all the way through.
Foie-Gyu burger was ok. Disappointed on how soggy the bottom bun was from the burger.
Chocolate cake was real good and the Papi Churro was ok. The avocado ice cream that came with had like lemon juice on top of it. I didn’t like the combo.
Took my brother and his wife here for their birthdays. I made a note of that in the reservation and the hostess who sat us down also asked what the occasion was.
At the end of the main course, I was expecting them to do something for my brother and sister-in-law. Maybe a free dessert with Happy Birthday on it or something.
There was nothing done for them which was disappointing. I know that they don’t have the cotton candy that they to at Alexander Steakhouse, but a simple gesture of a Happy Birthday with one of their desserts could have been done.
The food was decent. I order Mac and cheese, sticky ribs, foie gyu burgers and 2 drinks. The drinks were fantastic. The food the on the other hand was so so. I expected the beef patty to taste a lot fresher; especially for 40$. The beef patty taste dry almost like it was frozen. I would probably just come back here for just drinks next time.
We popped in after a long day for a few drinks. We did not order food, but the table next to us did and it looked AMAZING. They do not offer any common beer options. I wish restaurants were less bougie with the beer. Stella or Michelob Ultra never hurt anything— especially in a spot such as this. I chose 2 different craft cocktails. I had a North Beach Exchange to start. It was nice and fruit punchy. I followed with a Heart & Soul which was the highlight of our visit. Service was subpar. The host was very nice, but the server wasn’t especially friendly. I had on yoga pants, maybe that is why. It was early, but by the time we left the bar was jumping. I would return, but probably not in workout attire.
I was excited to have a promising new gastropub in the neighbourhood but unfortunately, ALX Gastropub failed to deliver. We had to wait 45 minutes for our food and when it arrived, some of it was only lukewarm, the fries were cold. Second drink ordered never materialized. The serving staff seemed to struggle to deliver food in a timely manner to quite a few tables. I don't know if the problem was the kitchen or communication or something else. Prices are too high for what you get. The pork chop was extremely salty, the foie-gyu burger was actually okay but cooked medium rare even though we asked for medium. Even before knowing it was from the owners of Alexander's Steakhouse, I had already decided I wouldn't come back here. But knowing that now, I am not surprised we did not enjoy our experience at ALX. Very disappointing.
We've been fans of Alexander's for a while, but I don't think their new ALX Gastro Pub is living up to it's potential. The food was mostly good: the mini churros were just bad. "Little Grease rockets" is what we named them afterwards. I've attached photos of how they appeared on their website, and what we actually got. The grease to dough mixture was wrong, and the insides were gritty like they were undercooked. The service was slow, the waitress was knowledgable and cheerful but having to deal with to many tables - most of the other staff were walking around like zombies with glum faces.
We noticed Claude Le Tohic, visited the kitchen whilst we were there. Hopefully he's taking a keen interest in improving the situation. I've been looking forward to one65 opening for a while now, and don't want it to be another let down.
We will try them again in a couple of months to see if they get better.
We have been here twice now and enjoyed both visits. It’s kind of a mixed bag. The food is very good but some of the portions are small while others are ample. The salmon tartare appetizer was tiny for $14. The beet salad was very good and the burger is always good. Goat cheese tater tots are fluffy and crisp. Service can be slow but the bartenders are great. Nice cocktails also.
Non existent service. Food was served cold and undercooked. Very disappointing experience.
