Loved the pastas and rice ball. Crostini was good not great with anchovies. Prosecco was terrific.

Great pasta, and pork chop perfect. Very intimate, and very San Francisco. Cool to see cable cars running by. Service excelent and host/maitre di was very welcoming. Definitely go back.

Celebrated a 90th and 60th birthday here. The staff was excellent. They were attentive and gave wonderful suggestions. They suggested family style which was perfect for our group as we all enjoyed sampling the different dishes. The pasta dishes were amazing.

Excellent ambiance. Service was exceptional and match the freshness and deliciousness of all the courses. We started off with the chicken liver pate - AMAZING! Then coursed out with the Pappardelle pasta, melt in your mouth pasta noodles. Then had the pork chop and black cod, if I could eat this everyday, I would. Don’t forget dessert! The Chocolate Budino, and sorbet were the perfect ending. Thank you AltoVino - it was a perfect evening!
Satisfied four serious foodies. Great service, the Bistecca was excellent, served with bone marrow and glazed scallions, drizzled with olive oil and salt, the citrus salad divine, and my ink pasta with seafood delicious. Lovely decor. We hadn’t been since It had changed hands from Mason Pacific. It is absolutely lovely. On my SF favorite list.
Excellent overall - food, presentation, service. Owner, Claudio, is from Florence. He was on site and engaged. Extensive Italian wine list w/ some unusual selections. Highly recommend.
There were three of us, and we all LOVED our meals. I'm dreaming of going back, but am in the DC area... We had the citrus salad and insalatina and they were fantastic. My citrus salad was beautiful with a light tart dressing and pistachios to offset the sweet. Then I had the Triangoli which was delicate, beautiful, and delicious - probably could've had another order and been happy. It was that good. My friends had the Pappardelle and they loved theirs, too. We all had diff desserts. Panna cotta, almond cake, and chocolate gelato - and again, everyone loved what they ordered. Just delicious. A few loud parties made conversation a bit challenging - weird acoustics - but we all felt we'd made a wonderful choice and can't wait to return.

My favorite Italian food in the city now! Always a hit, I close my eyes and eat haha. I’m Italian on both sides and their food takes me back to the flavors of my youth.

Sardine and white bean appetizer great: nice fresh sardines, well-prepared beans and green sauce. I had the spaghetti with tomato sauce; my date had the tagliatelle with pork and truffles. Both were well -executed and delicious. I like that portions are not outsized. Wine a bit pricey ($20/glass) but excellent Barbaresco. Dessert: an almond cake with a citrus glaze that managed to be both rich and refreshing. Maybe one of the best cakes (my favorite food group) I've had in a long time. As for atmosphere, DeVino manages to feel like you're having a special night out, while maintaining a casual neighborhood vibe.

We shared one YUMMY salad & pasta & MASSIVE $105. Porterhouse. Yep, 3 items = $200., our max for a quick impromptu Sunday night meal...no more $$$ for wine or dessert. Yummy Swensen’s for $3. each after.

First time at Altovino and loved it ! Definitely would consider this restaurant a hidden gem. The service was phenomenal, food delicious, and ambiance lovely. I loved the intimate blue dining room with jazz music playing in the background!
We had the sea bass which was excellent. Light, flaky and very tasty. The roasted vegetables were cooked just right.
The steak, on the other hand, left a lot to be desired. Ordered medium rare, it came as a variety of rare, medium rare and medium and lacked any kind of seasoning. The mushroom ragu was just mushrooms, and the seared polenta was dry and burnt, not toasted and creamy as one would expect. Overall it was very disappointing and I left half the plate as it wasn't good.
The wine recommendations were spot on though.
