I went to Alto Forno for a girls night dinner with two close friends. It was a Tuesday night and the noise level, and ambiance was perfect. The waitress was very personable and knowledgeable about the menu. The specials were very enticing and I went with one that was delicious. We all loved our meals and drinks.
Then only thing that I think the restaurant need to work on is training for the support staff. They seemed very young and inexperiences with what the fine diner expects. They lingered around our table while we were finishing up and took my plate when I was done while my friends were still eating. Then they took my other friends plate while one friend was still eating. She said it was ok to clear, but they literally took the plate while she was still chewing her food. I'd expect better manners in a place like this. In my opinion, no plates should be cleared until its confirmed that all diners are finished.
This wouldn't keep me from dining there again, but I thought the management would like to know this happened.
Very nice - good food - good table by window
Alto Forno is a special place and a wonderful addition to fine dining on the North Shore. The menu is upscale Italian a welcome change from the numerous “red sauce” restaurants in the area. The ambiance is more like a Boston restaurant than suburban North Shore but as this establishment is owned by the same folks that own the equally wonderful Pellana it’s what you’d expect. A must try.
Great food. Had the halibut and veal chop specials and they wee
Great meal. Great service. Wonderful atmosphere. We will definitely be back. A word of caution, this is not an inexpensive place to eat.
Had a great Birthday dinner w/my wife and daughter. We kept it simple and had some great seafood to start and then all spilt the Alto salad and a flatbread. Very good as previous times. Our server Sean (sp?) was great, funny! Probably should have gotten the Halibut special as that looked awesome at the table next to us. Didn’t get the ribeye this time, but next...delish! See you soon.
Great food and ambience. Diners are not rushed. The servers are attentive. My husband has a dairy allergy which was easily accomodated.
Outstanding food and exceptional service. From the free valet parking to the attentive service and amazing menu, everything was excellent. This has become our new favorite restaurant.
Very good experience, good food and our server Rinaldo was great! Prices are a tad ambitious but I respect the situation. What a great spot, we’ll be back soon!
Fantastic! The staff was very friendly, and quite helpful with suggestions. Looking forward to our next visit.
It was my first time at Alto Forno. A friend had recommended it. Everyone from the valet to the Waite staff was friendly and attentive.
My friend and I ordered an appetizer and one main dish and split both of them. When the entree came out it was already divided equally between two plates and presented nicely. A classy move.
This will be a special occasion restaurant for me, since one appetizer one entree and two glasses of wine plus tip added up to $90.
Beautiful look inside. Bread was excellent. Our server was super nice. All three of us loved the food. Wines by the glass were really good, but the bottle of Sangiovetto Di Toscano by Badia A Coltibuono was outstanding!
Food was great and the ambiance was awesome..... Server was extremely knowledgeable and very attentive. ...... Will be going back real soon......
Food was good and prepared fresh. Nice presentation with attentive staff. Would definitely recommend and return.
Very good food, outstanding service, noisy but tolerable. This restaurant is a great addition to the bevy of terrific North Shore restaurants already surrounding us! I had the short ribs - they were amazing!
Everything was amazing. The wait staff was super friendly.
Valentines Day dinner was fabulous.
Food was excellent, wonderful service!! Spoke with couples next to our table and we all LOVED the quality and unique preparation and presentation of food!
Definitely will return!
Wonderful Valentines Day spent here.
Service, food and drinks on point .
Price point not for an average night out.
Drinks at $15 and $16 dollars a pop is not justifiable .
Food is acceptable , but drinks at that cost is gouging .
Would be nice to sit at the bar and enjoy, but not at these prices.
Wonderful. Duck was as good as anywhere
Very good service and food.
Valentine's Day early
Great food. Awful service.
listen to other reviews about service. It was terrible, we were waiting 20 minutes for a server to arrive and had to ask for someone. The food was not any better. My scallops were mushy and the brussel sprouts were over salted. The side of broccoli rabe was inedible. It was served roasted, but tasted like one long weed and impossible to eat. The server left the check without us asking for it. The entire night it seemed like we bothering her. Overall, maybe come here for a drink and sit at the bar, DEFINITELY not for entrees and for the money. Absolute waste of money for what it was and the price. Can not recommend this restaurant.
Very expensive for mediocre food.
This was our 4th time at Alto Forno and enjoyed it very much. Food is always consistent and the service is excellent.
Nice atmosphere - good food.
This was our second visit and with a different set of friends. They, too, loved the place and were impressed by what decor and ambiance. As I am vegan, I let this be known when I make the reservation and both times I have eaten exceptionally well. I greatly appreciate that the chef took my request to go easy on salt and oil very seriously, many restaurants don’t.
The drinks are excellent.
Definitely need at least one vegan dessert option, perhaps some sorbet? There are so many healthy/vegan ways to create deserts! It would really be appreciated, also by those who do not keep vegan but want a lighter fare to end their dining experience.
This restaurant is my new favorite destination on the Northshore for special occasion dining.
Loved , loved it! I've been there twice since December and have come away happy after both visits. Generous servings, creative and healthy options, comfortable seating, super service, and modern , warm decor all make this restaurant worth visiting.
Love this new spot! Beautiful, modern decor with a really upscale feel, friendly and attentive service, and excellent food. The burratta was amazing, they cook the tomatoes unlike we've ever seen before, and our entrees of ravioli and garganelli were delicious. We sat at the bar and the bartender made a perfect wine recommendation for my husband's pasta. The hazelnut mousse dessert was huge and so decadent. We will definitely be back!
What a lovely restaurant. I really enjoyed it—great atmosphere, food and service.
Everything was great. There were limited vegetarian selections but were willing to alter some foods.
We had reservations for 7pm for 2 people. When we checked in it was 6:50 pm and the hostess said the table was not ready but that we would be seated by 7. After waiting in the entrance right beside the door to the restaurant for 20 minutes, we finally had a manager show up and explain that they were still waiting for our table to be free. This was not something we were happy to hear, given that it was getting on to be a 25 minute wait. However, having realized we had been waiting so long, the manager asked what we would like to drink and shortly after a server brought us complimentary drinks.
Thankfully, the manager stepped in because we were ready to call it a night and leave!
The rest of the evening turned out wonderfully! The food was absolutely delicious and the service was great as well.
Given the circumstances, we would consider going again, since the Management was terrific in treating customers properly. Additionally, food, service and ambience were reason enough to come back!
Food was outstanding, service was a bit slow, Our waiter was very pleasant, however he could have used help with drink running and food running. The drinks were very slow to arrive.
We ordered cappuccino for dessert and it arrived to the table cold. The wines by the glass list needs to be expanded for those that do not want to order an entire bottle.
Overall a positive dining experience, just needs a few tweaks.
Great food can be marred by poor service, poor food can be forgotten by great service, on my recent visit, Saturday, January 27th, 4:30 p.m., great.food, unique cocktails were complimented by exceptional service, (Jackie), loves her job, it was clearly evident, knew the menu, and managed the table like a pro....continued success to this winning team.
Went out for my 1st wedding anniversary, great service food and drinks were outstanding. The menu is not overwhelming and the seats were comfortable. what more could you ask for? Great addition to the peabody restaurant scene!
Awesome awesome awesome! Consistently awesome every time we have gone!
Boston prices in Peabody. Variable food preparation.
The only issue is when vehicles leave the parking lot their headlights illuminate the inside where people are dining. Maybe over tint the windows so it lessens the lights from the outside parking
Fabulous! Lobster flat bread was excellent, fried oysters- also great! Each course was very good, craft cocktails delicious!
We had terrible service the waitress was unattending to the table. The food was cold when it came out especially the calamari and fried oysters. The salad was a Caesar salad that was practically undressed and the main entrées were very dry and overcooked. We reported it to the management on the way out and also called the next day and they just said we were having a bad night! Doesn’t make us want to go back there and bring friends with us to a restaurant when they don’t have their act together. The manager said just call come back and tries another night I don’t think so!
