The ambiance was beautiful. The food so flavorful. The service was perfect. The drinks were good sized and amazing. The only problem was the price, just too pricey for your Saturday night out and I'm sad that I cannot go there often enough.
Great overall experience and we were comped for dessert and coffee so that was a surprise! Please make more vegan/vegetarian options!
Otherwise, my bf and I love coming here!
Everyone in our party loved their meal and we each had a different entree. Perfect meal and service.
Excellent cuisine. We think $46 for a veal shank is a bit overpriced. My perfectly cooked filet topped with butter poached lobster of $39 actually was quite reasonable. Service did not match with the elegant dining experience one comes to expect with high priced menu. It's new, they need to fine tune it some more. People are willing to spend so long as the overall experience, cuisine and menu prices are in sync.
This place was great! Everything from the bread, appetizers (the veal meatball was awesome). The entrees were delicious and filling. And finally the toffee pudding desert was amazing. Overall A+. We will be back.
Been a couple of times consistently good.
Wine, food service great
The bartenders and wait staff was great. Food was as well. Not cheap but really worth it.
Food was delicious. Service spot on! Love the decor. Highly recommend!!
I have never been more disappointed in a restaurant. I've eaten here a fee times before and had nice apps and meals. We waited for everything. Drinks all came (blueberry drink special sucked) at different times as well as food. Heirloom tomatoes were so tough we could not eat them. Food was flavorless and finding someone to even bring salt and pepper was impossible. Pasta was harder than al dente and awful to eat. Waiter never came back after bringing our meals to check in. Spent his time focused on a table of business men. Hostess saved the entire evening. She should be the face of the restaurant. I'll think again before hitting here again.
Overall the food and our server Nick was superb. I would definitely go there again tenderloin was so tender
high end Italian style restaurant with valet parking and great bar. They could use a menu change or two but the quality is outstanding.
The food was good a little salty for my taste. The staff was accommodating and attentive. I loved the atmosphere. Great place for s romantic dinner
Very helpful attentive service. Excellent food! Their short rib is the best! They went out of their way to make it a great night.
Sean was our server. She was amazing! Delightful pleasant So efficient. She made our special birthday celebration so memorable! Tks so much!!
Our first time at this restaurant. Started off with poor service when waiter forgot to bring our wine.
The service just got worse as the evening went on....complained to the staff....manager never apologized.
Food was fair...we would not recommend, or go back, to this restaurant. Too many wonderful restaurants
out there to tolerate this unacceptable service. Not inexpensive.
Went there for a second time - this time for a business dinner and the food, and waiter did not disappoint the entire table. Food is creative and very nice, waiter was very flexible, very knowledgeable about the menu and helpful in our selections. The menu is a little higher priced but an overall great meal with matching service.
Excellent service, delicious food, knowledgeable wait staff. Love Alto Forno for dinner or just for drinks and and appetizer.
I would recommend drinks and apps. First time I had pasta and liked it but didn’t love it. This time, 3 out of 5 of us were not thrilled with food. Great ambiance, decor and service and I would return for that. Red sauce was not great.
Our second visit. Consistent very good meals. Decent choices for wine by the glass. We will be back.
Our first visit to the restaurant, a special birthday dinner, was delightful. We were seated promptly with a 715pm reservation for three. Our attentive server, Vito, provided great insights as we ordered the fig crostini and the burrata as appetizers. We had excellent cocktails, the Alfredo pasta, the pesto pasta and the short rib. We also ordered the broccoli rabe and the truffle fries as sides. From the handsome and very comfortable chairs to the premium quality food to the warm and inviting atmosphere, this place is fabulous and we look forward to returning! It's location, near the Northshore Mall, is deceiving. Once you are inside the restaurant, you see what a treat it will be to dine here. Note: Coming from two great fine dining cities, New York and San Francisco, we feel we are tough restaurant reviewers.
Food was just ok. Service and ambiance would bring me back
The service was excellent. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location is convenient, near the mall. The food was good.
When I made the reservation on-line, I specified it was for a birthday. We were seated at a table in the bar area (no tablecloth, small). I asked if there were another table and they did put us in the "dining room" area with the white tablecloths. I would have thought especially if it were a special occasion, they would try to give the customer a nice table. I am glad I asked. The other table seemed more for drinks and snacks and not for a nice dinner. There is a 6 or 8 person high top right next to it.
From beginning to end our night out was fantastic. We celebrated our wedding anniversary with two other couples. We went early and sat on the wonderful patio for a few drinks. We sat inside for dinner and everyone enjoyed their meal - no complaints! The waiter brought over desserts for the table to share with a candle for our anniversary- so sweet! We love alto forno and will be back!
At arrival the restaurant looked impressive. Sat at bar to wait for our other guest to arrive. Three bartenders at bar and had to wait 10 min for someone to come over as they seemed to ignore us as it really was not busy. Took another 10 min to take our drink order.
The menu looked tasty as we sat to order. Octopus dish was smothered in tomato sauce, wish it was a little more refined. Calamari was lightly battered and not greasy. The mains were Short Ribs with mushroom risotto which was excellent, Halibut which was moist and the Lobster risotto which had an odd taste. Lobster was cooked fine but the risotto was made with a lobster demi - glaze that really doesn’t exist, it was brown and not very creamy.
Over all we will go back to try other dishes to make a final decision. Needs more refinement like its sister Pellana.
Everything was wonderful. Took my husband to dinner for Father's Day. The food was excellent and the waitstaff very attentive. Lovely ambience. Looking forward to another visit.
Good sized portions, everything was delicious. The restaurant is large and you do not feel cramped or rushed.
Excellent food! Good service! The beet salad was unusual and tasty.
Lauren(hostess) was terrific with handling all of our last minute changes to our reservations. We had Josh as our server who was outstanding. He was attentive, professional and witty which made our celebration that much better. The service and food were excellent. Some of the drinks were a bit expensive . We ordered a shrimp cocktail (2 shrimp) which was way overpriced at $22.
2 dishes with same side, waitress should have clarified which dish was ordered if she was unsure
Our first time experience here was outstanding!! Everything from the service to the food and drinks exceeded expectations, and made our special dinner celebration something to remember!!
Went on a Thursday night a bit after 7pm. Plenty of seating. Had the lobster appetizer (terrific) and the ribeye entree. My wife had the steak tenderloin. Both superb steaks. Waitress was very helpful about the menu and the details of the food’s preparation.
The large windows provide a very open feeling and face in a direction so the sun is not an issue. Table setting very nice.
This was our second visit and we greatly enjoyed both meals. These are dinners worth lingering over. I wish I had left room for dessert.
This setting is appropriate for an evening out with a spouse, a business dinner, or a family celebration.
We will definitely return and have made it part of our regular restaurant list.
Great spot. Food was very good, service solid and the ambiance is awesome. We loved it and will go back.
Fabulous food, wonderful server, great time, can’t wait to return.
We were celebrating our anniversary and AltoForno was the perfect choice. Loved the ambiance and the vibe. However, it was a quiet Sunday night with few other customers. I suspect the noise level increases greatly when it is full. Vito the bartender was super. Very personable and efficient. He made us feel welcome and cared for. The food was also great. Wine was good, too, but rather expensive by the glass. We will definitely go back and will recommend Alto Forno to our friends.
Wonderful, knowlegeable waitress. Creative tasty apps. Best AperolSpritz-icy but no ice cubes. Have been disappointed in other Duck dinners. Ours was delicious. Daniella’s has very uncomfortable chairs. But not here- the gray fabric chairs were very nice. Music very loud so difficult for conversation. We will be back. Hope the music is toned down.
We celebrated our one year anniversary here Saturday. Our bartender Adrienne was excellent, when seated our server Abby was knowledgeable and very helpful.
My wife and I came here for my birthday. We have the smoked oysters as an appetizer. Outstanding! My meal was a surf and turf. My steak was cooked to Perfection the butter-poached lobster was awesome! For dessert we got the warm pudding. Oh my God was it good!
Delicious food and the toffee pudding dessert is divine.
Food was great, wish I could say the same about the drinks. This is the second time we’ve been and both times the drinks were terrible.
