Great staff, incredible food and a great experience. We will be back.
Amazing food, amazing view of our beautiful city, amazing service. Altius never disappoints.
Amazing view! Very good food!
Wow, is the best word to describe. Food, all who served from the man who parked the car to our waitress. The view was breath taking. For me it was a little pricey, but what a great treat. The extras that we received made me feel so special. Thanks to all for making my evening so wonderful.
Food was wonderful and the service was excellent. Every table has a view. Will be back again very soon
Our experience at Altius was good overall. The food was excellent. Pricey but not beyond what you would expect.
Excellent food and service by Gretchen. Was disappointed in the taste and presentation of cocktails. Was hoping for better. Beautiful ambience. One suggestion would be to put light blocker on front door. Every time a car turned toward restaraunt my left eye was blinded with light from where I was sitting.
Amazing meal and staff. They did an excellent job working around my allergies.
We arrived a little late due to the babysitter but they were still able to take us in. We waited at the bar just long enough to greet our party and order up a drink. The bartender was amazing. The waiter was as well. Food took quite some time but it was well worth the wait. I figure it was because of the 2 steaks that had been ordered at my table. But everything is always delicious here! I recommend to everyone who enjoys the upscale environment.
Fantastic. Staff were so nice and food some of the best
Birthday dinner & wait staff made it quite memorable. We def will return!
Outstanding! My girlfriend and I came here for my birthday, and it was by far one of the best experiences I've ever had at a restaurant. Great view of the city!
I would definitely recommend ….from the time you walk in you feel welcome. no attitude from the staff food is fantastic and the view is amazing looking forward to my next visit
I'm thinking "new chef" this visit. I had two dinner companions and our entrees rather all looked alike. For past visits, each plate had its own character and portions were distinct and artfully plated. This visit, each entree (scallops, veal, ravioli) was heavily 'sauced' and it all rather looked the same. One of my guests was unable to finish her meal as it was a bit over-salted. I'm not sure what has happened, but something has definitely changed over the past 6 months (6/18 - 12/18). The view is still spectacular, and the service is great.
From start to finish this place was incredible. The service was outstanding and the food was amazing. All the little touches were appreciated too including the chef small bite during the meal, candle on the table, the lighting, complimentary popcorn, and the place settings. The meat and cheese appetizer is so unique and enjoyable. The steak my wife and I had were so flavorful. Even the vegetables had a ton of flavor and were cooked perfectly. Dessert was very delicious and the surprise happy birthday treat for my wife was great. The espresso creme brûlée was one of the best little desserts. We can’t wait to go back and each try something new from the menu. Would recommend this place to everyone.
Out of all the Mt. Washington restaurants, you will be most pleased with Altius. They do not rely on the view to make it a memorable experience. THEY make it a memorable experience with their delicious food, coupled with friendly and attentive service. If you're deciding on which restaurant to choose, Altius is the answer.
Fantastic friendly service, interesting and fresh dishes, amazing view, beautiful clean restaurant. Only con I can find is the women’s bathroom only has one toilet. I assumed there would be multiple stalls. This place was so lovely, I’m sad I don’t live near Pittsburgh because I want to go back!
Visiting friend who had never seen Pittsburgh thought the view was spectacular. We enjoyed reading the menu for the intricacies of the flavor combinations. We had a difficult time deciding on what to eat!
The food was not great. I feel that restaurants with great views sometimes do not drive great food to accent it. This would be a great example.
This is my 5th event at Altius with more than 15ppl. Everything was fantastic!
You have a diamond there!! The food was the best, the service was phenomenal, view absolutely stunning and everyone enjoyed themselves.
I was looking for something different for our anniversary and I found this restaurant Altius. It has a overview of the city of Pittsburgh so I booked the reservations and let them know that it was for our anniversary and when we were greeted at the door they said happy anniversary to me and my wife. Waiters Tom was an excellent had a lot of goodjoke for us.
We had a delicious but expensive meal. Service was very good and the view is terrific!
i always book a table for out of town guests and special events and you have always honored my request for
a window table.
On the 25th my Swiss guests were impressed with the food, wine list and were overwhelmed with the city view.
the service was very considerate.
I reserved a dinner for my birthday. At the arrival we were told that there would be cake cutting fee, 6 dollars for each person, including the ice cream (not good at all) and the candles (only two small general candles). I am just wondering, during the reservation or the confirmation phone call, why there was no one ever mentioning the cake cutting fee, since I have specified the event. I have visited the restaurant for five times in last three years, and it is getting worse and worse....
Altius will never disappoint. The restaurant and staff know how to deliver a wonderful meal experience and it is evident every time you dine there. This restaurant has the best city views from any table and the most wonderful choices from their menu. It truly is an overall perfect experience form start to finish.
Seemed short staffed so service was behind. Sea bass was excellent. Special was tuna with curry which was underwhelming, especially for $48. Curry was too strong for the tuna. Lobster puff pastry app was delicious. Pumpkin mousse dessert would have been better if focus was pumpkin mousse-too many added flavors (oatmeal, panna cotta, nuts...a little overboard).
Amazing overall experience! The food was great! Good selection of food and wine. Service was excellent...our server was on top of it and knowledgeable about the menu choices. I would highly recommend this fine restaurant.
proposed to my girlfriend and it was an experience i’ll never forget
Steak was over cooked. They gave us free dessert to make up for the error. Asked for a window seat at time of reservation... it was our anniversary. We did not get a window seat. This was disappointing. You come to Mt. Washington for the view which we did not have.
This was our third time dining at Altius and not our last! Love everything about it not only the outstanding menu, but the service and the ambiance make it the perfect night out!
It was our first time in Pittsburgh and at Altius and I was there celebrating my 50th birthday with my husband and two girls aged 11 and 9. We loved everything about it! The food was spectacular. SO good. One daughter ordered salmon and the other ordered steak with the intent of splitting it but the waitress quickly picked up on that and had the chef split the dish so each had their own portion of each on each plate. Everything was presented so nicely. We got the window corner seat which was perfect for the view of the City and the incline. They even gave us complimentary samples of an appetizer and a few birthday dessert which was this decadent display of chocolates with strawberry and cream. My words don't adequately describe the unbelievable food that was presented to us. Our waitress was also very pleasant and attentive without being overbearing. She bonded with my daughters and was very sweet. I would highly recommend this place to anyone!! Fabulous!
So I reserved a table via open table and mentioned personally it is my anniversary and i need a window seat. the hostess at the reception kept ignoring me! and politely nodding. and then they made me wait for my table reserved , I was right on time. and then they give me a seat right in the middle of the restaurant. not over yet! i asked the lady accompanying me to the table to move us to their highrise view table by the window which by the way! was vacant. I asked them to move she comes back after few minutes and she says its reserved for a party more than 4. and guess what happens after few minutes. two men come and occupy only 2 seats. i saw them seated for over 30 minutes and no one came to occupy the rest of seats. YOU GUYS SPOILT MY ANNIVERSARY!!
The restaurant's tagline is "elevated cuisine," which perfectly sums it up. You get great food with a sensational view from the floor-to-ceiling windows high above the city. It's not inexpensive, but it's worth the splurge.
The staff is friendly and attentive; the bread basket brims with inviting treats; the chef sends a delectable amuse-bouche to start your meal. The salmon entrée and the green beans were exceptional.
This is easily in the top 5 of my restaurant experiences. The food was impeccable and reminiscent of fare prepared by a Michelin star chef. The reductions were thoughtful and diligently tended to and the paired proteins were remarkably tender. The wait staff... Chad was the breakout star, presenting the menu with zeal and excitement not seen enough from servers. 11 out of 10 stars. I don't know if there was a way to have made the experience better!
Despite the modern décor it felt surprisingly cozy once seated. The fish special was excellent (black cod) and though the T-bone steak was skillfully prepared it was out shown by the accompanying carrots and green beans. Not complaining, I finished it all. The winning tastes of the night were the black Manhattan cocktail, the herb focaccia bread, the freebee bowl of popcorn and the beyond-beyond amazing Neapolitan ice cream / banana dessert. Service was attentive yet not overbearing. Obviously it is expensive, but I plan to return soon and make a more modest "meal" out of the black Manhattan, the view and the dessert. Yes, that would be a happy night.
Quite simply the best restaurant in Pittsburgh.
This restaurant was excellent. Our waiter, and everyone else on staff, went above and beyond to make our dinner experience nothing but spectacular. The food was absolutely delicious, as were the cocktails. We will definitely be going there again!
Awesome restaurant one of the best in Pittsburgh views were amazing the food was out of this world and the staff you could not ask for anything better
Outstanding from start to finish! We can't say enough about the friendly staff, the ambiance, and the terrific food! We'd heard great things and our expectations were exceeded!
Wonderful experience and a delicious meal. Maria, our server, was outstanding. I was a little concerned that it would be uncomfortably formal or overly fussy. It was neither. I look forward to my next visit.
