Altezza Ratings and Reviews
We had eaten here a couple of years ago and just loved it. The food was delicious and the property immaculate. I arranged a family dinner with my newly Engadget daughter and her fiancée. I was so embarrassed. The restaurant was shabby. The food was horrific! The next day we tried to order drinks on the patio and it was just a repeat of the night before. The hot chocolate was a mix and the worst Bloody Mary ever. Horrible experience all around. So disappointed and embarrassed. Never again!
Altezza is a resort hotel restaurant and the quality of the food and service reflect that. The servers are friendly if barely competent. The food was not horrible but also not particularly good.
As said in other reviews, the view is fantastic. Come for a drink and appetizer on the lovely patio then go elsewhere for your meal.
It's pretty bad when 2 of eight entrees have to be sent back. My steak was ordered med rare and arrived well done. Waitress took it back and said 4 min for a replacement. Almost 10 min later my new steak returned still over done and lacking any flavor whatsoever. Another friends fish plate was returned because of strong fish odor. Appetizers we're good, and some of the other entrees were good. I think management could have been a little more interested in the problems.
But overall I think the experience was not great and it's clear to see why the restaurant only had 3 or 4 out of their many tables empty. This is our LAST TIME at ALTEZZA !! Charlie Palmer
We are staying at The Peaks Resort and planned dinner here our first night for convenience. It was a great meal. We are very health conscious and have some food allergies. The server and the kitchen were very accommodating and the flavors were fresh and creative. Great options for kids and the brunch buffet is delicious and easy.
We did not feel like going out of the resort that night so we decided to try the resort restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised! We had the small meat and cheese appetizer which is not small by any means. It had sizable portions of everything and included extras like fig jam, pickles and flavored crackers. We also had a steak salad and a salmon salad with kale and quinoa which were both excellent. We sat by the windows and enjoyed the sunset and were overlooking the airport strip. Highly recommend Altezza.
Overall a very negative experience. Service was slow despite the fact that We were the only table there at the time. Food was substandard and tasteless. Restaurant may be great for sunset and a glass of wine but I wouldn't have food there. Even the spiced nuts were heavy and sticky.
Awful. Had eaten there a couple of times when it was the Palmyra, so we gave the new brand a try. It was a mistake. Service was slow (though waiter was nice)., even though there were only 5 tables seated when we arrived. My steak, ordered medium, came out rare. My wife's lasagna was dry and overcooked. Maybe it will get better but avoid it for now.
We had Thanksgiving dinner at Altezza. They offered a buffet with all the traditional foods perfectly prepared. The buffet was especially nice because we were able to determine our own portions of our favorite Thanksgiving dishes. There was a nice selection of delicious desserts all prepared in house. The pumpkin pie was especially good.
Our waiter was very attentive and personal. He could have done a better job describing the dishes so that when delivered one of our party would not have asked "is this the appetizer portion?" I asked for the sommelier for some direction on the wine list but they had none as the last one left and had not been replaced. The pasta portions are smallish and look more so due to the dishes they were served in. The beef cheek/mushroom agnolotti had a deep rich beef flavor and was again very rich. The lobster and shrimp tagliatelle was well balanced very flavorful and rich. Two of our party ordered the fillet. One felt there fillet was too done and requested another. The waiter informed us that is would be late coming out and all the other would be done eating. That's not quality service.
What a great place to celebrate a special occasion. Arrived just in time to watch the sunset - what a specular show. Dinner was delicious as was the dessert. A little on the pricey side, but we knew that going in. All in all, an excellent dining experience!
First time to Telluride and read a ton of reviews for Palmyra at the peaks so we decided to try it out. Let me first say that this restaurant is located inside The Peaks Resort which is a beautiful hotel. The scenic mountain views from this restaurant are incredible. The ambiance is beautiful with all fires lit inside the dining room. They have a very nice wine list and variety of entrees. The food was delicious and portions were big. Definately try the pig and fig flatbread as an appetizer. The restaurant was pretty quiet for a wed night -not many people dining and the service was lacking in friendliness. Overall-I would recommend this restaurant if you want a beautiful view and delicious food!
Was very impressed with the food. Cost was what I would expect at this type resturant and the view was to die for. If you can look past poor service then this is a great find. It appeared EVERY server was being trained as this was start of the winter season and we (family of 4) had a pair assigned to our table. Introductions and asking if there are questions is usually a basic fundamental of servers...this didn't happen. I also had to ask for a dessert menu and if they had any coffee when one of our servers finally checked on us...as we had been finished eatting a good 5-7 minutes when we saw one of ours servers the first time since our food arrived. I should mention we were one of 4 or 5 tables filled in the entire 20 table resturant. When I received the bill it took another 20 minutes to have payment processed as I watched the server walk back and forth across the room 4 times with what appeared to be finding help on how to process my payment. Im glad we were not in a hurry When she returned she did explain they had a new system and they all were trying to figure out how to use it. For $30 TO $50 a plate NOT A GOOD EXCUSE. I dont want to be a practice table!! As we were staying at the hotel this resturant was located in I asked if it would be easier to just bill to my room. Blank stare and the response "I don't know if we can do that?" With no offer to find out. Very immature, unrefined server and wait staff which is a shame because the food was impressive but it took away most of my appetite with the lack of service. We did try the resturant one more time during our stay thinking it might have been an off night...service still stunk! We found other venues to eat at the rest of our stay.
The service is poor, bartender didn't acknowledge us then helped someone else who had just walked up to the bar. Server was OK but didn't follow up with us often. Nothing was truly made right at the end of the experience. Food was pretty good but didn't compensate for bad service.
Palmyra has a fantastic view. Perhaps it is a better place to grab drinks at the bar and absorb the view, however. Service was very slow and the food was marginal at best. If it was not attached to a ski resort and didn't have a great view, this restaurant would no longer be in business in my opinion.
