Fantastic. We will come back many many times
This is a really delicious soho local gem
Make sure to ask for the pizza flatbread
Great food and service
Group of friends got together and we went to Altesi. We have been there few times already and we always love it. This time we went for a brunch. The food, the service and the atmosphere were fantastic. Well done Altesi see you soon!
Excellent food - not sure why this hasn’t been “discovered” yet. Best food I’ve had in that neighborhood in years.
Horrific. Disgusring
Very good food, reasonably priced.
It was a return visit for us and we had invited a couple and it was their first visit and they are in the food business. We have a spectacular dinner with incredible service. We always have the specials - the soup - the pasta and the fish. All were top shelf. If it is a special occasion or everyday dinning Altesi is guarantee.
We had a lovely dinner there. We got together we couple of the friends and everyone had wonderful time. The food was great, the service friendly and professional and we will be back soon Altesi!
Great food, wait staff is friendly and courteous, service is good without being intrusive. Menu
is full of delicious appetizers and entrees. Interesting wi e list as well.
We absolutely love Altesi Downtown. The food was outstanding. For the appetizer we had lobster and belga salad followed by authentic and perfectly done pastas. The decor is beautiful and the service warm and friendly. We will be back very soon!
We absolutely love this place. We have been coming here already for the while and we always enjoy it. We love their oval thin crust pizza. The pastas are all authentic and delicious. The service is always friendly and welcoming. We highly recommend the restaurant to anyone looking for authentic and tasty Italian food.
Really enjoyed our meal. Staff very attentive and relaxed atmosphere
I have mixed feelings about this place. I've been wanting to go to the other location for a while but came to this one since it's closer to me. The place itself is very cute and the staff is very friendly. Our waiter insisted insisted in giving me and my husband a happy hour menu even though HH was over, we thought it was going to be extended but when we asked, it created a lot of confusion (on both sides). We decided to move on and my husband asked for a cocktail menu, the waiter kept pointing at the HH (wine) list and said that if he wanted liquor, they have a full bar... (huh?) I don't think he was being that way to be rude, I think there was a little bit of a language barrier and he was not well versed on whatever the restaurant has to offer. Anyway, we decided to order. We got the salmon tartar and the meatballs as appetizers, they were pretty good (nothing outstanding but good enough). For the main, we both had the lamb shank ragu tagliatelle. The pasta was nice and light but it was SO bland! And this is coming from a person who prefers food on the blander side. I NEVER add additional salt to food but I found myself reaching for the salt shaker over and over again! Lastly we ordered dessert, we got the profiterole and the creme caramel. The profiterole was good but it was a presentation that I had never seen before, it was like an ice-cream scoop filled with a profiterole. The creme caramel felt like eating a blob of fat... almost flavorless. The food was a big disappointment but the place itself and the service was good. I probably won't come back.
I feel totally ripped off. I went with a friend for a special occasion to have the Restaurant Week Lunch. The Piscacchio Semifreddo was removed from the dessert menu and she didn't even touch the Limoncella ice cream substitute. we both agreed that the food was so-so, nothing spectacular, but the worst part of it was that later in the day I looked at Altesi's lunch menu online and saw that they offer a daily lunch for $21.99 with more, and better, selections than what was offered for RW. And for $8 less. The owners must thing it is good business to take advantage by cheating their customers but I will spread the word about this deceitful practice and discourage people from dining there.
Not much ambiance but good food.
Very good food and service the home made tagliatelle whit lam ragu Mama mia delicious like in Italy I’m definitely coming back
We absolutely love Altesi Downtown. The food was outstanding. For the appetizer we had salmon and lobster followed by authentic and perfectly done pasta and pizza. The decor is beautiful and the service warm and friendly. We will be back very soon!
Food and service were great, decor not so much. We ate in the smaller front area which was fine - the back sort of looks like a cafeteria.
Food was okay, bartender was terrible - no clue how to make a dirty martini, margarita, or Black Russian... service was excellent - super attentive even with a large group.
Paolo does an amazing job running a top notch - incredible service - perfect food establishment. We always order the specials and are never disappointed.
Not great at all. It looks pleasant and quant from photo, but the service was off, no one was there, and the food was pretty bad. Gnocchi were tough, table hummus was weird, and the pomodoro was lacking seasoning.
Food was amazingggggg!! Service was great and the cocktails were phenomenal. Highly recommend.
It smelled great and the space was cozy. We felt ignored by the staff after we received our meals. There were two large parties that took most of the staffs attention. Some of the staff seemed to be unaware of their surroundings, but most were experienced though seemed quite busy. They missed the chance to ply us with more wine and dessert. The octopus appetizer was delicious and the wine was quite good.
One of my favorite neighborhood restaurants. I especially love their lobster salad.
One of the best downtown restaurants in the city. They make great Manhattan's. The salads, pasta and fish specials were marvelous. The food is great and so is the service. Anytime we are in SOHO we will eat at Altesi Downtown.
Fantastic place for authentic Italian where you are left alone and not rushed.
Jaime was wonderful! Delicious food and excellent service!
Altessi, as usual, pleases & satisfies. A favorite of mine in Soho.
Understaffed, delicious octopus - hand-cut spaghetti with tomato and basil totally bland and basic - overpriced. Chairs scrape loudly on the floor
We love the place and it is one of our favorite restaurant in NYC. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, the food authentic and delicious. We really enjoy coming here and we always leave satisfied and happy.
Great food and service, really exceptional items all over the menu. We've been coming here for years.
We are big fans of the location on the upper east side, which is why we visited the SoHo location. Everything felt a bit off, though. The dining room was not as warm. The service was not as smooth as the other locations; servers did not communicate very well, their frequency of visiting the table was inconsistent, and there was a lack of an overall welcoming feeling. And the food was not as good as uptown. Steak was great, pasta was great. The basics are there. But something has been lost in the translation from uptown to downtown.
We loved Altesi. I travel a lot for business in Italy and I must say the food at Altesi is same as good as the best restaurants in Italy. We had a party of six and everyone loved their dishes. I had cured salmon with the cucumber and apple to start and it was fantastic followed by an excellent, perfectly cooked papardelle pasta with chanterelle mushroom. So if you don't want to travel as far as Italy for the great, authentic food go to Altesi and you will love it.
Disappointed
Good all-around restaurant for informal business lunch or dinner. The interiors are simple and lighting is decent; table spacing also good for business conversation. We had a pasta dish, which was well prepared and delicious. The only distraction came from the sound of moving the heavy chairs — a simple fix would be felt gliders on the chair legs. If this were fixed, the setting + the food and service would be exemplary.
My brother highly recommended this place from his visit a couple of years ago. It did not disappoint. Almost feel like I was in Italy. Food and wine options were great. The lasagne was truly the best I've ever had, ever. It's neither a small nor large portion, but with the fresh bread they served it was just enough. With go back twice next time I'm in NYC
We love Altesi Downtown and it is one of our favorite neighborhood restaurant. We have been coming here frequently since they opened and I must say it is always a wonderful experience. The food is fantastic, always fresh and authentic. The service is friendly and professional and they always try to accommodate your needs. If the weather is nice we love to sit outside. We highly recommend Altesi to everyone looking for fine dinning experience.
The whole experience was great, food was delicious, nice wine selection, and excellent service. We'll be back again!
We absolutely love Altesi Downtown. The food was outstanding. For the appetizer we had salmon and octopus followed by authentic and perfectly done pastas. The decor is beautiful and the service warm and friendly. We will be back very soon!
