We went to an early dinner so we had the place almost to ourselves. We sat outside and they opened the garage style door next to us so we felt part of the bar area also. It was wonderful on the porch. We enjoyed our food and the waiter was really warm and welcoming. We went up to the rooftop after dinner for the sunset. Awesome evening.
We went out to celebrate my birthday. The waiter and manager were both wonderful and very polite. The specialty house-made ice cream was amazing.
Best decision EVER for Easter Brunch! The food and desserts were amazing, and our server: Rafael was such a joy!
Our server (Rafeal) I believe that was his name was fantastic. The atmosphere was great except the patio got very hot...maybe the misters would have helped or having some kind of shade come down two of us left burnt on the left side of our body from the sun beating down on us. The only other suggestion maybe would be for the servings to be smaller on the all you can eat brunch menu (the food was good, but different) so we wanted to try everything, but felt so wasteful. I went to a brunch place in Dallas that brings out a serving of every option for every person at the table this way everyone gets to try everything, but the portions aren’t unmanageable sizes. This may also allow the prices to be a tad cheaper.
Everything was excellent. The food was outstanding - both the pepperoni flatbread and the pear and apple salad with salmon. They were both well prepared and a little unique. Both the wine and beer were good compliments. Service was very good.
Service was slow and food was subpar
The interior is so cool, very photogenic. The live music was not too loud by any means and the singer Adam had a really nice voice. Our food was insanely good and we each got multiple drinks. Will definitely be coming back!!
Saturday brunch was very nice
Everything about our visit to Alter Ego was superb. Our waiter was immensely helpful in his suggestions and was very timely. Our drinks were tasty and on happy hour special! Every dish we had was incredibly flavorful from the guacamole to the white bean dip to the elote to the mesquite cauliflower to the gemelli pasta. We passed on dessert, but I have no doubt that it too would have been unique and flavorful. Parking appeared somewhat limited, but we arrived plenty early so had no problem finding parking ourselves. I highly recommend giving this place a try!
Service was very slow, we waited a long time to get our server. When we did get our server there was no upbeat to them. They didn’t even say thank you for coming in... it was rude and weird. The drinks were very small portion. Won’t recommend this place to anyone and won’t go back.
The ambience is great the food was yummy my husband didn’t like his first drink but they quickly replaced it was something he really liked
Javier was phenomenally helpful in deciding what food and drink would be the best. Meal was delicious and the cocktails were great!
We went for a beer pairing dinner and the experience was incredible. The hospitality was great, they made us feel special. The food and drinks were incredible and the people were super friends. We’d go again!
In the Canopy Hotel. Not bad but nothing to write home about.
They really weren't that knowledgeable which made for some frustration.
This is a restaurant inside the new Hilton Hotel concept, canopy (lowercase on purpose). It’s open, clean and swanky trendy but in no way pretentious. We actually ended up eating on the rooftop sister lounge, Alibi and were not disappointed. Amazing ambiance, great service and felt as if we were guests staying at the hotel even though we weren’t. The pool element adds to the vibe as did the DJ. Valet service was validated upon leaving. Just an overall awesome experience!
We ate here for Valentine's Day and it was an awesome. The atmosphere was great, the food was awesome, and the service was over the top. We will definitely be back.
Great experience and solid service.
Loved our server Rafael and the awesome host! Everyone was great and friendly!
Our experience was excellent. the food was delicious.
Ruby was AMAZING!!! We really loved this place and will fly back from Colorado for more delicious food and service!!!
chicken sandwich was the best. the glazed ribs and fries were also very good.
Our service was great, would definitely recommend this place. Very cozy and quiet and just good vibes
Such an amazing experience! The service was splendid and I was able to enjoy my meal without having to wait in line. The interior design is absolutely gorgeous, very cozy and welcoming.
Very nice brunch with live music. Choice of inside or outdoor seating. Food was good and good size portions. The server was friendly and prompt. Never eaten there before and would go back.
We dined here for NYE and ordered off the preselected 4 course menu. The cocktails were delicious (we tried 3 different ones) and everyone's food was promptly served. Delicious and inspired menu, I am excited to come back for brunch. My only qualm was the 1st and 2nd course were served together which made it feel a little rushed, but I will definitely return.
Ate there Christmas morning as we were traveling. Really good
We’re newer to the valley, and we come from a city with a phenomenal restaurant scene. We’ve struggled to find anything that compares to the delicious food we had back home. That changed after dining at Alter Ego. It’s the best food we’ve had in Arizona to date! Delicious, well prepared, and presented. The staff was amazingly kind and prompt. The restaurant was pristine in terms of cleanliness. The ambiance was perfect and had something for everyone - bar with large tv, high top tables, low tops, private booths. Incredible experience and we will be back! Thank you!
We had 2 servers that were pleasant and helpful. We were there for brunch. The coffee was strong and bitter. I told the server and they did not charge us. Would be nice if they offered specialty coffees.
As for the food, it was well cooked and seasoned. The portions were ample as we needed take out containers.
The ambiance was above par as there was a gas fireplace going, Christmas decorations and a live guitarist playing.
The menu choices were very limited. Not sure that we’d go back due to the limited menu and above average pricing compared to other restaurants.
Made a rez for Thanksgiving. Lovely atmosphere. Super friendly staff. We ordered the traditional dinner. It was really good. I was thrilled they changed from Turducken to turkey.
What a wonderful experience! We had the Thanksgiving special meal
Service, drinks, and food was as good as it gets
Always a great time. Phenomenal Food and service.
The service was great! The setting was nice and open! But the food was not good. The only item we ordered that was a hit was the flatbread. The panini sandwiches had bread that was so hard it was hard to eat. The katsu chicken sandwich was fried dark meat, which I found odd since any other fried chicken sandwich I have ever order has been white meat. It seems that would have been in the description. The chicken wings were good by themselves, but the two sauces that came with it were plum (way too sweet) and sweet sour (not tasty) were inedible. This restaurant is at the bottom of a Hilton and just a stones throw from main Tempe ASU campus. Seems they should adjust the menu to be a little more straightforward (ie blue cheese dressing with chicken wings and a white meat chicken sandwich). There was literally only one other table being served while we were there, albeit this was a few days before thanksgiving and during covid, but it looked very slow. And after tasting the food, we know why.
It would be nice if the outdoor seating had trees or flower beds to break up the noise on the street. The food was excellent however the wait time for service was a bit long and there were only a few guests on a Sunday morning. I will give it another try as it may have been an off day for them.
Overall the experience was great. The food was amazing and so were the bottomless mimosas. The ambiance was awesome, there was live music at the time of our visit. The only draw back was, I was told I had to make a reservation but when we arrived there was no greeter and no sign to seat ourselves or wait for hostess. I had to walk all the way in the restaurant towards the back and get a server's attention to ask if it was opening seating. There was also a bartender as you walked in who did not acknowledge our presence. Our server was attentive and even directed us to the rooftop bar, which was a great way to end our brunch. Overall, it was a good experience and I would definitely go again.
What an amazing experience. The food, drinks and service were exceptional. We could not have asked for a better experience. The food was hot, fresh and was so yummy! Service was on top of drinks, ensuring we had what we needed and so kind. The chef was amazing! He made us a special treat for desert and wow just wow!!
Alter Ego is an absolute gem! The menu is rather small, but everything we ate was absolutely amazing! The atmosphere was great, and I loved the show kitchen. Being able to see the chef put the final touches on the dishes before sending them out is always fun! The presentation of the dishes rivals that of some high end restaurants I’ve been to. We will definitely be returning just to have the shrimp again!
Loved this place so much. From the staff to the food, it was fantastic. Order the Ego Burger, you will thank me.
Great food. Great service. Will absolutely go again.
Unexpected gem in a hotel restaurant. The patio dining (cue to C19) was a little more rough-and-tumble than we would have liked. The passing street denizens were a bit much. BUT - it was one of the best of the 7 places we visited for AZ Restaurant Week. WELL DONE!!
Staff needs to be better informed regarding restaurant week
