There was an event going on in the bar area so our food was delayed. The ribs were great and my guest had the steak salad which she said was excellent.
Saturday, October 9, was our one year wedding anniversary.
Appetizers at Alibi up on the 14th floor:
Short Rib sliders and house potato chips
This amazing sausage and mushroom chimichurri flatbread!
A skirt steak chimichurri with papas bravas and arugula radish salad
And the chef made us a special dessert complete with an off-menu item: orange vanilla churros.
We’ll be back at Thanksgiving, and are excited to see what the menu will be then!
great food, fun vibe and location are all a plus!
Service was very slow. Pizza oven was down. Went for dinner pre-theatre. Took awhile took get a drink order. Informed staff that we were going to theatre but still had a long wait even though restaurant wasn’t that busy. Had to eat quickly to get to the show on time.
We found this place on the fly while in Tempe. What a find it was! Arrived at 10:30 on a Sunday and expected a busier place but it was relatively quiet except for a wonderful guitar soloist singing/playing great easy listening (James Taylor, Simon & Garfunkel, etc. classics) tunes. Right away we were served and they even brought out a bowl of chilled water for our pups on the patio. I had a watermelon mimosa and my hubby enjoyed a Bloody Mary which was so good, we were inspired to go home and make up our very own Bloody Mary mixer! The Chicken and Pan Waffles was delicious also! Can’t wait to go back—oh and when were leaving, the place was pretty much full so folks in Tempe are aware of this little gem!
A friend and I decided to try something new. Alter Ego didn’t disappoint. We shared the wings and a flat bread….both delicious. The place is bright and modern and located off the lobby of the new hotel. I am looking forward to visiting again…perhaps during happy hour.
Overall it was a nice experience and I'd recommend it. It's a great setting for a small, quick meet-up for drinks/appetizers, not a full-on dinner. Good vibes, great smell!
Food truly is spectacular and has some really cool unique items. Ambience I believe if the manager the place would be good but there is clearly no management present - we where there for just over an hour. Service from start to finish was at best mediocre- they will have the same excuse most small mom amd pops places currently have - understaffed and the staff they have is overworked
Great spot. The staff were awesome and caring. They knew the menu well enough to educate us on the meals. The flavours were touch underwhelming but the dessert was fantastic!
My wife and I came to Alter Ego during restaurant week. We tried a variety of the appetizers, entrees and desserts. They were all amazing! Definitely some foods I hadn't tried and twists on familiar foods, but everything was great! I'd highly recommend it! It's out of our way, but we'll definitely be coming back.
We had a reservation at 5:30. We waited at the host stand to be greeted for over 5 minutes. We were finally sat around 5:38, but no one ever came back to our table. At 6:05 we got up and left.
Great food, drinks, and service. What more can yo ask for?!
Everything was freshly prepared and made to order. Takes a little time but well worth the wait.
Lovely hotel restaurant with an excellent menu!
Amazing food and exceptional service!
Was really looking forward to this dinner but to be honest it really fell short. For the price and how pretty the place was I was expecting a meal that blew me away - instead it was almost hard to finish. We ordered three appetizers; the mussels, the smoked salmon and the burrata. Out of those three the only I would think about ordering again would be the mussels but even then I probably wouldn't. The "smoked" salmon was pretty flavorless and undercooked, the buratta was severely overpriced and almost insulted buratta by itself and everything was served with like an entire loaf of bread so pretty much our $95 dinner was for bread. Service was excellent and the location was great I just wish the food matched in quality.
Hi Tango! Was this review meant for a different restaurant? We don't have mussels, smoked salmon, or burrata on our menu. We also don't serve bread with our meals. We do hope you get a chance to visit us in the future!
We visited for Sunday brunch before a matinee play at Gammage. The food and service were excellent!
On the way to the airport and stopped in for a quick breakfast and a Bloody Mary. Great spot! Our waiter Luis was awesome!
Great food, able to watch the football game peripherally on the tv behind the bar, cocktails were delicious
10/10 would recommend!
Right at the edge of ASU campus, the restaurant was surprisingly quiet on Friday evening. Menu included spicy or mild choices, good variety and something for everybody within a dozen or so entree options.
Perfect stop before Gammage. A little more upscale with delicious food. The chef even checked to make sure we enjoyed our food.
Service was exceptional and the surroundings were opulent. This is off the lobby of the Hilton and the view from the roof (we went after dinner) was fun.
The service was delightful from everyone we encountered with. The food was delicious. Thank you.
I enjoyed this place and booked it because it had good previous reviews. The waiter was the bartender Raphel and he was awesome. The food was very good (5 stars) and it was priced right as well. This place is a must try for sure no disappointments.
Chef Ken Arneson is a master. And a showman! His vast knowledge of food and drink makes him a chef to trust with your tastebuds! Even if you aren’t adventurous, Chef Ken will never steer you wrong.
The event was Harry Potter themed, and perfectly done down to the last detail. Waitstaff was in costume, and pulled everything off without a hitch. Always friendly!
Valet parking is a nice touch, and the venue itself is just the right size.
Love this place! The food and service is amazing!
The food and experience was amazing!! We went during Sunday brunch when there was live music and it was so nice. It's located inside a hotel and the ambience and decor is so nice to look at, we had lots of fun sitting around taking pictures, food was delicious.
Went for my birthday and it was great! Ribs and chicken katsu were yum and loved the chocolate tres leches cake. Would definitely go again.
We had the worst service on a very limited brunch menu. I was surprised to see how many great reviews this place had. We had 2 tables leave around us because the servers were too busy talking with one another at the bar. After waiting 45 minutes to place our food order which we went up to the bar to do, the food took an additional 30 minutes. The restaurant was at ~30% capacity so there was no reason everything was so slow. On top of that, the menu is pricy. I ordered chicken and waffles for $20. The food was not good enough to be priced that high. I would avoid this place.
This place was amazing. The ambiance is a 10/10. The service is a 10/10. The food was great. I cannot remember the last time I went into a restaurant and left as happy as I did here! Amazing for all occasions or regular everyday dining. HIGHLY recommend.
Appetizers were the best! They were out of the lau lau, which I would have gotten. The pork in my pata entree was charred and I hardly could get a piece of it to eat. My boyfriend’s katsu was delicious! The value for restaurant week was good for what we got!
Food and service were both great! They were also very friendly to my dog, who was able to stay with us in the outdoor seating area! I would be back again!
My mother, husband, and I visited Alter Ego during Restaurant Week to try their special menu and I am so glad we did! My mother is extremely picky about her food but she enjoyed it so much that she raved about the broth that came with the crispy pata and jokingly wished that she could have a cup of it to bring home and enjoy. Our server, Javier, actually brought her two cups of it and she was thrilled! We enjoyed being able to watch our meal being prepared and the kitchen staff was friendly and so flawless in their performance. We had the Takoyaki, Fried Hearts of Palm and Broccolini appetizers and each one of them I would happily order again and again! We had the Lau Lau and Crispy Pata entrees and we devoured them with gusto! The noodles with the crispy pata were perfectly done, springy and with the perfect chewiness that should come with ramen! And the black cod in the Lau Lau was sweet and buttery and utterly moist. Again, I would be happy to order those dishes every time. The desserts were light and very refreshing, just perfect for the end of a perfect meal.
It’s a cool style, but they didn’t execute their recipes well. Great creative ideas, but just fell flat.
Great service. Interesting food. Nice space. The main problem here is the ice cubes. They taste horrible and mess up anything that includes them. Easy to fix: filter the water!!!
Picked the spot for Restaurant Week. Food and ambience was good but the service and the attention at the table was poor. Hardly saw the server. For the high tab for what we got, it was not worth the experience.
Awesome experience with the tequila school. Food and beverages were fantastic
Food and service is exemplary. Would go back again.
Rafael (server) never disappoints! Love his energy! Food was delish!
