This is my second visit to Altana Rooftop. Both times, they had one waitress for the entire rooftop so service was very slow. I did not mind because it was a beautiful night and I had intended on staying several hours, but it would not be recommended for a quick bite. The cheese board is well worth the money and I could go there just for cheese and wine. All in all, I will go back and enjoy the view and the weather.
It was a pretty mediocre experience. Nothing wrong, but nothing special either. The food was pretty bland. Our server was nice.
The restaurant week menu was great!
Loved the atmosphere! Food was very good but they didn’t have their normal menu since it was restaurant week 2018 (select menu).
As long as you are NOT in a hurry for food and don’t mind just sitting and waiting, it is perfect. I was not in a hurry to go anywhere and I wasn’t starving so I was okay with the long wait. If you’re super hungry, do not go there I will definitely go back
Waited a long time to order drinks, 5 people got drinks one beer came 10 minutes later, Asked for water, took another 10 minutes. We needed to request napkins and silverware. Ordered another round of drinks and that took 15 minutes. When the food came 4 meals were cold. One good thing the manager did not charge us for drinks.
Ordered a meal that was not available “ran out of @
The Rooftop was a bit soggy - we actually weren't able to eat there as there were torrential rains that day. However they accommodated us in the 3rd floor dining room and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We were the only people there (lots of flooding over the entire region) and we were treated royally.
Great views of Lancaster from the rooftop but after the beautiful sunset it was VERY dark and you couldn’t even see your menu or the person you were sitting with. It’s a good place to go for drinks if you aren’t in a hurry as it took 20 minutes to get our first drink and an average of 10-15 minutes for any drink after, which is a shame because their cocktails were really good.
Stephanie was awesome!
The staff was very friendly and the food was quite tasty as well as a great value during happy hour.
Greg was an excellent server. Food was awesome. Will definitely be back.
The small plates were delicious, healthy and so much variety. Love the view of the city. Only downside was the women at the table next to us were smoking.
Had a great time!
Reservation was at 7; we ordered shortly after. Waited an hour- our drinks came but no food. We left at that point, needing to get to a theatre by 8:15 (had shared this with the waitress but it seemed beyond her control). WOULD NOT TECOMMEND although views are beautiful
Had reservation for dinner -beautiful evening and view were the only positives - terrible service, waitress barely acknowledged us, ended up just having drinks and going next door to Annie Baileys and had great dinner on outside deck . Really a shame , place is so pretty
Greg did a great job even though he got swamped. Food was good and view/atmosphere was fantastic. Would love to check it out at night.
This was our first visit. The drink special of half price wine was great. We got the crab appetizer and that was good. Our entrees were not good. The Mac and cheese was flavorless and dry with some even drier chicken on top. The shrimp scampi was completely flavorless!!
We loved the setting and will go back for drinks, but will probably avoid eating dinner there.
The view of so many church steeples was gorgeous. Our waiter was good. He got rather busy and it took a while to get our food.
Last Friday was my first time there and I would definitely go back. The atmosphere was awesome and the live band was amazing! Service was a little slow but the food was delicious! I got to see the sunset from the rooftop of the restaurent and the view was breathtaking!
Went in for brunch with my girlfriend. Was too hot to be outside but the inside dining room was available. Very cozy inside and much appreciated A/C. Service was attentive and the food was simple yet delicious. I had the classic breakfast and she had the eggs benedict, loved both dishes. Our second time there to dine and would recommend to friends for a nice date night or even a quick brunch spot.
Food out in less than 15 minutes(salmon eggs Benedict), fresh mint and basil plants for drinks, a DJ, and a rooftop view. Best brunch spot in Lancaster hands down. PS try the Belgium waffles, they're to die for. If you're going to pride today be sure to check out the after party!
Enjoyed taco Tuesday
Service was HORRIBLE! We had to wait 20 minutes before asking the host ourselves if they had servers! When we got our drinks they were terrible anyway....not impressed. The place is beautiful but arrives killed it! The downstairs bar was much better, however.
Beautiful Saturday evening on rooftop. Food, service, drinks all good.
This restaurant would have been fine were it not for another rooftop bar right nextdoor that had much better ambiance and furniture. Unfortunately that rooftop was visible from Altana. I strongly suggest that the owners should upgrade the ambiance/furniture, if they want to stay relevant
Music was.loud for dining. Server was good and the food was also very good. Unfortunately we have been there twice this summer and the food was very slow to come out both times.
We went for my husbands birthday. Never been there before. Heard the rooftoop was a great view. However the experience was very disappointing. We were the only people there on a Thursday at 6pm. We were disappointed with service. Waitress came over asked my husband what he wanted to drink and left. Didn't ask me or my daughter what we wanted. She then came back and tooj my daughters and my food order and left with out asking what he wanted. The only redeeming thing about the visit was the food. We had the buffallo chicken dip, procutto and peach pizza, short rib, and tuna nachos. Each was very good.
Great location and atmosphere but received very poor service. Appetizers came out with all the meals. Didn’t receive my food, waiter checked realized he forgot to order it (a cheesesteak) and didn’t return or apologize to say what was going on. Spoke to someone no apologies and food still hadn’t come by time everyone was done eating. I was told my meal would be taken off the bill but since I had a coupon they couldn’t do that, yet no one came over to explain that to me and I had to speak to someone again about the service. The waiter never asked if we needed drink refills and felt management didn’t care poor service was received. I was pleasant about it and they finally did offer a free round of drinks but that was after I said whether I had a coupon or not it doesn’t make up for poor service. It’s slmost like the waiter didn’t want to comeback since he messed up but he could have kept me up to date on what was going on. A cheesesteak doesn’t take over 30 minutes to make and it was not busy at all. I just felt management should have been more receptive to the situation and I shouldn’t have to ask to speak to someone twice about what was going on.
Without a doubt Altana has some of the best cooks in Lancaster. Nice variety at the bar and very personable bartenders. The ambiance is definitely worth noting as well as the views from the rooftop bar.
This was our second time there and we brought friends. Everyone enjoyed it! Enjoyed the rooftop experience as the last time was in the winter.
The food was good. The space is WEIRD! So cut off from the bar. Staff was pleasant but we had our reservation at 530, we didn’t leave until 9! I do t think we have ever had such slow food service.
Our server was cheery and personable. Taco Tuesday was a great deal and the fire grilled shell made it the best taco I have had in Lancaster! We will definitely be back.
Do not recommend. We had a reservation, sat down on time, the waitress stood at the table behind us for 15 minutes talking to her friends. We had menus, were ready to order drinks at least, we started looking around for another server, made eye contact with her a few times and no one ever came. Finally after over 15 minutes of no one coming to the table we got up to leave. At this point, and only this point, did the waitress run over and ask if we would like to order or "can I at least get you some drinks??" We said no, we've been here for over 15 minutes and you were talking to your friends the entire time.
There was no one in the main restaurant, and no one to greet us. I walked up a few flights to the roof. There I saw a waitress, and got a table. The service was ridiculously slow, even though the place was more than half empty. At least two tables that arrived after we did, with larger parties, got their food before us. And we only ordered sandwiches. It was an okay view. But not much of a food or drink selection.
The food was cold and tasteless. We were very disappointed.
The first time I went I thought the short Ribs were amazing. I planned a birthday dinner for my boyfriend with some family members. We were expecting a fabulous meal. When we ordered the Short Ribs we were told it was not available. There was a St Patricks day special menu. I was very upset that we had to settle for stew on this special occasion. I was not made aware of this when making the reservation. It ruined my special plans for a special birthday dinner for my boyfriend. The portions were small and our whole party was left feeling hungry and disappointed. VERY DISAPOINTED.
Service was good but had to send my food back because it was cold. Even when the food was hot it wasn’t very flavorful.
Went for Lancaster City Restaurant Week but ate off the regular menu. Delicious food at a reasonable price. Service was wonderful. Everyone was very friendly and informative! We will be back and will bring others with us.!
Service was very attentive. Menu was simple but we took advantage of the food week specials. Chocolate bomb cake was crazy good!
Myself and a few co-workers decided to come here for restaurant week. There were only three other tables seated in the dining area throughout the time we spend there. We all ordered multiple tacos but that seemed to be a strain on their kitchen (there were 5 of us and we each ordered a handful of tacos). Only half of our group received their tacos when the server brought them out. By the time they finished eating the rest of the group was still waiting on their first order. When the bill came they over charged a member of our group (They we $2 or all you could eat for $10, they were charged $10 but only had 3 tacos, when brought to the servers attention she said the manager wouldn't change the check total!). The tacos were barely warm but they still tasted pretty good.
