   Alta Via was outstanding. We shared the Tuna Tartar and both got the small order of Cacio Pepe Bucatini. We ordered the Mushroom dish as well and put them on our pasta. Everthing tasted great. We had great service and tasty wines. Oh, I can't forget about the superb housemade vanilla Gelato.

   This was our first time at Alta Via and we could not be more pleased! Laura our server was great and we were so pleased with our brunch. We are excited to come back!

   We had reservations the Wednesday after the big storm that caused massive power outages across Pittsburgh. We were seated right away. Drinks were served. The waiter was friendly and allowed our group to catch up before ordering. We ordered one appetizer which came out in a timely manner that everyone enjoyed. And all four of us ordered simple pasta dishes. I ordered the one with crab meat and pine nuts and I informed them that I was severely allergic to dairy, which they assured me wouldn’t be a problem. We waited nearly 90 minutes for our entrees. Our waiter was very apologetic and we figured that the kitchen was a little backed up due to all of the takeout business…but 90 minutes?? We weren’t offered anything for our wait either - just lots of ‘thank you for your patience.’ The kicker- I had a mild but still significant allergic reaction after leaving the restaurant- so there must have been some unnoticeable amount of dairy in the dish. Overall a pretty disappointing experience, which was a bummer.

   Our waiter was excellent. The food was delicious and I appreciated being able to get a half portion of pasta.

   Would have preferred sitting at a table with four chairs instead of two chairs and a bench. We tried several of their featured drinks that were good but we probably wouldn't recommend them. The salads were very good and plentiful. The focaccia bread was excellent with the butter or olive oil. The Pappardelle was very tender and tasty. The Ravioli was abundant and very good. The Orecchilitte was excellent. The waitress was very helpful and attentive to our needs. I would definitely return.

    We had read so much about this spot that we decided to try it for Easter brunch. Perhaps that was not the best of decisions, since brunch menus around Pittsburgh tend not to offer the best that its restaurants have to offer. One of the antipasti was excellent, but the rest of the offerings did little to entice someone back to try the regular fare. We also had the impression that the ambience was a bit more upscale than was the case. In fact, our reserved table turned out to be in the bar area, which meant that we had to put up with a television in the background. We were not exactly looking for a "sports bar" atmosphere for a Sunday brunch, so this came as a disappointment. The service, on the other hand, was truly outstanding. It's a shame that the food was far less enticing.
