Wonderful place right in the town center! Food and service is excellent. It was a full house, and a bit difficult to talk over the chatter.
My wife had the eggplant appetizer and the top layer was over cooked. The chicken sandwich was excellent as were the french fries. The Bolognese was very good and the mushroom Luna was also quite good. I wish the noise level was lower so we could have a conversation without yelling to each other but it is an open concept restaurant. Our server was little brusque and the first thing out of his mouth was that they don’t have any pasta today. Surprise surprise it’s an Italian restaurant. Apparently one of the chefs had an emergency and the replacement would be in for a while. We elected to stay anyway and he did eventually report back that the pasta chef was in.
Great food, perfect service. Great local place for Italian food. My new favorite place!
The quality of the food served has really gone down. I had a tasteless chicken parm made out of rubber chicken and bland sauce. My wife had a small pasta dish that smelled of old pasta water. The service was great as was the dessert but this was likely our last visit until someone turns this place around.
Mothers Day menu was $45, with options for appetizer and main course. Several of the main course selections where margarita pizza or a simple pasta dish. The only item anywhere near worth the price was lamb chops, but that was an additional $5. We were not expecting a budget menu here, but felt the selections did not meet the price. Will not be coming back. Unfortunate because Wellesley could use a few good restaurants
Our Mother's Day reservations were at 5:00 p.m. We felt extremely rushed throughout the entire meal. We were told that we needed to order everything at once. The table was constantly being cleared, water glasses were taken away several times, and we had to ask for more water. Our meals were good, although the serving sizes were small. We were served two slices of bread for five people, and when we requested additional bread, they brought another slice ~ very bizarre! The restaurant was not full, nor were there people waiting to be seated. Feeling rushed and uncomfortable, we chose not to have dessert at the restaurant, walked across the street for ice cream, and we were home at 6:10 p.m. The amount of money we spent on this meal was definitely not worth the experience. Although we like to support restaurants in our town, we will not be going back.
Great food, even better service. They were very attentive and flexible with a big young family. Great all around experience!
Always a very consistent experience at Alta Strada. Definitely on our recommended list.
Started with CRISPY ARTICHOKE HEARTS with Lemon Aioli, Pickled Red Onions, and Olive Oil YUM!
then moved on to PAPPARDELLE with Wild Boar, Tricolor Carrots, and Shaved Ricotta
and SPAGHETTINI with Aglio, Olio, e Pomodoro
OMG.....everything was absolutely delicious!!!
We made a reservation and arrived on time. The hostess sat us at a table toward the back of the restaurant and I asked if we could sit closer to the front. She basically said no. We ordered dinner and it took quite a while. My dinner arrived and it was not really hot and the asparagus were over cooked. The meal was not what I expected but basically it was 3 small chicken thighs, mostly skin and over cooked asparagus for $29. I was extra disappointed. I feel like the prices have gone up and the quality down.
Excellent food and service.
Wonderful option for great foods and fun atmosphere in Wellesley!
Have eaten there many times over the years and the food quality is always very good. Having lived in Italy I can say with authority their pasta is excellent. We sat against the side wall and the lighting from above shines in your eyes This is an easy and important fix on angle and dimming. Service was attentive and professional.
Service was amazing and ambiance lovely but pasta a little too over-sauced this time around. Been many times and I'm sure will be back.
Fantastic meal, love the new menu, and great Italian wine by the glass options. Always a great experience, carefully crafted food and excellent and personable service!
Food and service were great. However the room was Very crowded and loud - seems like there were too many tables for the size of the room.
Biggest problem was that portion size was very small - we both got pasta and while it was very good there was not enough of it especially given what they charge.
Good! Went for Easter brunch and food was really delicious
Alta Strata is consistently good. I like the new menu.
The quality has declined. The ambiance is always wonderful but the service is inconsistent, the food was salty and simply didn't wow.
Too noisy to talk to fellow diners
I found the pizza menu limited
Very bad service and the food was cold. We ended up returning the food
Food and service were great. Unfortunately some parents fail to parent and their kids were doing gymnastics on the bench cushions next to my wife and I thought she was gonna commit infanticide because they were rambunctious, obnoxious and loud. Not really the restaurant’s fault, but it does fall down to them to try and get the guests to behave like members of a civilized society.
I was just at dinner there last Monday and I think maybe we got the inexperienced servers because it was a Monday night. Our waiter interrupted us way too many times which broke the flow of our conversation numerous times. I appreciate that he was eager and attentive but initially he approached us for our order too many times upon arrival and then with every course that we ate, he checked in after the first couple of bites to make sure everything was ok. I appreciate that he wanted to do this but experienced wait staff know to "read the table" and maybe avoid the numerous check-ins if the people are having a lively conversation. It was not very crowded so we easily could have waved over our server over if we needed something. I think this waiter might have been new or maybe just bored because it was a slow night.
Service outstanding. Food consistently average. Not a favorite
Service sucked today. There was better table touches from the busser Thomas. Our waiter talked to the hostess most of the time. I’ve been here several times and it was the worst service I’ve had here. Very disappointed.
Everything was great but we couldn’t hear one another speak
my only complaint about Alta Strada -- the ACOUSTICS. It's too loud
love this place, everyone is so amicable and the food is good!
Alta Strada was a disappointment from the penne with vodka cream sauce that tasted like it came out of a jar to the dessert that the waiter described (raspberry sorbet) actually being something different (strawberry sorbet) -- clarified only after we took a bite and asked (which could have been catastrophic for a person with an allergy to strawberries). I had hoped for more for the special occasion of my friend's birthday lunch.
My food and cocktails were excellent. Our companion arrived early, and was disappointed in the lack of attention by the server while she waited for us.
I have eaten lunch and dinner at Alta Strada many times. Brunch today was a total disappointment. The Bellini's had no flavor of peach. The service was too quick -- we ordered the housemade ricotta and it came simultaneously with our entrees, leaving little time to enjoy it. The crispy chicken BLT, ordered by two at our table, was monstrous. It was too tall to be eaten as it was served (indeed, as the runner set the plates down, the sandwich fell over). The chicken was overcooked and dry, the lettuce was leaves of romaine with the tough stalk parts still included, the tomato was pale and watery. Both of my dining companions who ordered it had to take it entirely apart to eat it, and neither enjoyed it. I had the Bacon Egg and Cheese pizza and it was....fine. This was not a good meal. At all. We won't return for brunch.
The bloody marys were really excellent. Also very much liked the crispy meatballs and the fava bean bruschetta. The chicken Milanese was a bit tough and otherwise unremarkable. Similarly, the fedelini was well prepared but the flavor of the sauce unremarkable.
Great menu choices . My entree and salad were both delicious; time constraints did not allow for dessert, unfortunately. Lovely restaurant with superior service.
We were celebrating a special occasion and noted as such in reservation. We were thrilled to find a corner table waiting for us when we arrived. Food was wonderful. Service was friendly, and professional. And the whole night FLEW by...partly because the food was coming out too quickly! It made the evening feel a little rushed. We took our time when we could, but with dishes coming so quickly, it was hard to slow down and actually have a conversation!
Good wine selection and nice appetizer selection - fills up quickly with locals!
Fantastic time celebrating my best friend’s son’s 17th birthday! Everything was wonderful - food, server/service and ambience...thank you! :-)
As always, the food and service at Alta Strada are top notch. We were meeting someone for the first time and should have picked a restaurant that was not as noisy or that could have given us a round table.
Extremely limited menu. Overpriced menu items and the same with alcoholic beverages. The raviolis were very tasty it for that price should’ve come with a side salad.
Great place to meet your friends. Wonderful; small plates and pizza.
