Been coming here for years. My favorite place for Italian food. Will not be coming back. Extremely disappointed. Used to have free bread; no more. $7 for 4 pieces of garlic bread. Wife and I got the same meals we always get - penne vodka and pasta bolognaise. The former was super spicy and in no way resembled vodka sauce. The latter had different noodles (used to be tagliatelle, now rigatoni) and was super salty. At first I thought the lack of a crowd was just happenstance; now I wonder if word has gotten out.

Wonderful happy hour pricing and friendly staff!! Huge Caesar salad was perfect and pasta was incredible. They have outdoor seating on the green if you prefer but we sat inside.

The music was loud, so we asked them to turn it down, which they did. Two people ordered a pasta based on the menu description, but when the entrees arrived they were slightly different (spicy). The food was still good, but they would not have ordered the items if they knew they were spicy. Waiter did not know the special, which we ordered, or the seasonal dessert ice cream, which we also ordered once we learned what it was.

Food was great, service was helpful. Our waiter explained each dish. Burrata was excellent! A little confusion on pizza toppings - asked for peppers on the side, got peppers on half (one side?) of the pizza. Pizza toppings were a little skimpy. Also, the waiter brought and poured bottled water as soon as we sat down, then brought us a second bottle later. We were never offered tap. Of course we were charged for two bottles of water.

Our first date night after 6 months home with our newborn, and we couldn't be more pleased with our choice of restaurant. Service was thoughtful and attentive, setting us at ease to reminisce about our honeymoon in Tuscany.
Our server, Stuart, was genuinely exceptional. We are not easy customers by any means, we have many in-depth and detailed questions, we moved sections halfway through our meal, and ordered additional dishes to-go, with intricate demands from the kitchen. He handled all of this thoughtfully and with grace and met every strange demand promptly and with a smile. For drinks, I had "The Big Chill" , a gin cocktail which was elegant with delicate flavors the restaurant used a proper cocktail ice cube which prevented the last sip from splashing down with an avalanche of ice. MY husband's sober and was very pleased to see a mocktail menu with essentially a non-alcoholic version of the same cocktail, the "Elderflower Refresher", a name which suited the drink perfectly.
We started with the calamari appetizer from the specials menu, a truly nuanced presentation of squid like I'd never had before. The calamari itself was perfectly poached and tender, and the sauce had just the right amount of spice to leave a lingering freshness. We waved over another server for an additional round of bread to sop up the last bit of the wonderful sauce, and she acquiesced happily and promptly.
For our entree we had the mafalde, a pasta we had never heard of which Stuart aptly described as the edges of lasagna noodles. We chose to add prosciutto which I can't recommend enough. The cream sauce was rich but not overpowering, the truffle was apparent and embellished the perfectly roasted mushrooms which complimented the texture of the unique noodles.
I would readily recommend Alta Strada to anyone looking for a wonderfully presented, accessible, authentic Italian restaurant, for any occasion, formal or casual.

Still out go-to place for whenever we are in need of a great time and amazing food.
this time we had guests from Italy, which we took to show them a spin on their local cuisine -well, they approved with flying colors.

great place, fine food and good service.

The food was not the best. The pizza was not good. The chicken parm was decent but there is an up charge for 1/2 cup of pasta. It was expensive for average food.

The octopus was excellent. The pasta was not. Their QR-code menu fails on phones that have security suites installed; fortunately they had a paper copy available. Some of their anti-covid procedures are obsolete.

The place is nice, the service outstanding, but I wasn't too impressed with my entry. The salmon was pricey and I was expecting the best. It was way too salty...the entire entree was like that! The salad was nice and fresh. I would still recommend the place. Maybe it was just a bad day for the chef

The food was good but the service was practically nonexistent. They got my husband’s order incorrect and our waiter only checked on us once - once we received our meals. We even had to track him down for our check. I understand it’s still pandemic times and we were there at lunch on a weekday, which is slower, but it was frustrating to have such minimal service.

We have been coming to Alta Strada for years now. The food was very good. Did not disappoint. My Rigatoni Bolognese was fabulous. My husband always get the Giant Chicken Parm, to be honest, was a little less "giant" this time, but equally as wonderful as in the past. Also, they use to give you a complimentary basket of hot sour dough bread with oil olive, but now there is a charge for it. Understandably so, with so much loss of business during the pandemic. I would highly recommend Alta Strada for a lovely meal out!

Had a lovely mother’s day brunch there for two. Sat outside and had a delicious carbonara. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive but never bothersome. She didn’t hover and we never felt rushed. The food was great and my Aperol spritz was delicious.

I love the Alta Strada in Mosaic! It was my birthday and my mom and I were frantically searching for a last-minute birthday dessert. All the other restaurants in Mosaic were closed (or closing and unwilling to take a last-minute order), but Alta Strada made us some DELICIOUS cannoli even though they were about to close. Really made my birthday and we swore we'd go back soon.

Well, this time we went for Mother's Day brunch and it was excellent! Highly recommend the Lemon Ricotta pancakes - so light and fluffy that you can eat a lot of them (yay!) and the creamy ricotta on top is perfect.

Sent my food back because it was SO salty, I felt salt on my mouth for days, and they didn’t comp it from the bill. Sad that that was our first time out since COVID. Their DC restaurants are SIGNIFICANTLY better.

Went out to dinner with my friend. We waited quite a bit of time before we even got acknowledged once we were seated. But once I let the hostess know the bartender helped us right away. She was great! Food was good, but by far the cannolis were the best.
